Two different sources closer to him than anyone on here have confirmed nothing is signed anywhere.
I say again - do we think people bombarding him on Facebook telling him he's a c**t is likely to keep him here or send him to Melbourne?
I expressed my disappointment on his F/B without the abuse - of course I then reported him to F/B for not being a real person given he's dead to us.
!Abusing him through Facebook is low guys, it's what 10 year olds do.
A lot of people on this forum are not that much older.

I agree some of the comments are a little over the top but is this how you repay the people who provided you with a chance? after one season? really?
He provided himself with the chance, by being a talented footballer.
Think it is 2 seasons with us if I remember correctly
We dont own him, obviously

I dont like it and am bitterly disappointed but really some of the comments are just to far over the top.As for wishing him harm that is just way out of line.
Do feel sorry for all the young kids who he had inspired,as he had become some what of a hero to many of them.

Is there any truth in the rumors that Marco is still only interested in NZ under 20 callup though? Actually thinking about saving his future international options?
to be honest, that seems... ambitious or... deluded?

Based on all the angst in this thread, we should use all of our season's transfer money to get in Ashley Cole before the end of March, so he can shoot Rojas on Newtown #2

Is there actually a chance of him staying though?
IMO if he had wanted to re-sign for us, he would've months ago. This hasn't really come as a shock.

Yes, the best tactic for any person who wants to stay somewhere is to take the first offer from their employer- rather than hang on for better pay/terms/conditions?

id say its ambitious. looking at that list though he would almost certainly need to be playing in Europe or South America, and excelling. hes probably got a 5 year plan drawn up that hes committed to, and part of that would be 'it'l be easier to get to either from the Victory than the Nix'

Easier to get to better leagues with international exposure (via All whites) though i would have thought?

It got passed hanging on for a better deal and onto delaying telling the fans that he's set to leave quite a while ago.

Did it? Season starts some way off. Marco should do the best for Marco. That might mean staying, and if so- he should do the very best for himself that he can.
(Because the phoenix management are doing the same for them. That's negotation 101. )
Saying he should have signed ages ago strikes me as naive. Until mid-season, he wasn't even getting regular gametime, let alone starting.

I didn't say he should've signed ages ago, I said he could've signed ages ago. All I'm trying to say is this doesn't really come as a surprise mate.

Sure, but it's a chicken and egg situation, surely. How to get Chile game time, without being in a top league, and how to get there without international exposure....

F*ck him in the ear if he goes to Melborne. Lateral move to a club that is on par with the 'Nix is BS, does nothing more for him than what he had here and gives him no greater exposure as a player than he had with us.
If he rolls, then good f*cking luck to him.
Hope he remembers long and hard what it feels like to be a traitor...Milky Pisswit2011-02-27 22:07:09

Plenty of players have gone from the A-League to Europe without full international caps. Look at Kruse, sure hes had a couple of caps but im sure his deal was set in stone before that happened.
But who knows. f**k it.

FYI for the angsty: Turning into 'tards is unlikely to make Marco stay.
I'm confident that whatever reason is making him consider/go to Melbourne it isn't the fans.

How is it good? He has gone from one A league club to another. Same level of competition, coaching etc as here.
The only way itd retrospectively be good is if his departure frees up a spot for another kid who turns out to be good also.

Really? Two-time A-league champions, who are able and experienced enought to compete in the ACL, is on a par with the Phoenix?
