Play like we did in the end of the year and we win comfortably.. play like we did in the first 4-5 rounds last year and we might be in for a long night
Wellington Phoenix men's coach Ufuk Talay says injured fullbacks Louis Fenton and Sam Sutton will likely be back for rounds 3-4, but both players are tracking well given initial fears that Fenton's would be a season-ender.

What word of Hooper being fit?? He was part of the casualty list along with Sutton and Fenton was he not?
Hooper was on the bench vs WSW & Sydney. Think I saw someone say he played 30 mins vs WSW. So he is fit but maybe not at a starting level.
Expecting Hooper to be better than last time he was with us. He's had a full preseason.
Wasn't he the highest scoring player per minutes played in Phoenix history? Something like that.
But yes, if he gets more minute he'll score more goals and be more influential. I expect him to be better than Hemed was too, and a positive influence in the changing room because he's shown he's committed to the team.

IIRC Hooper was the highest Goals + Assists per 90 until Hemed beat him last season.
Just on goals, Dadi (106 mins per goal) + Hemed (123 mins per goal) beat Hooper (139 mins per goal)

Dadi, what a beast apart from that penalty :-(
Am super excited for this game but am worried somewhat about our depth even more then usual, especially at the back.
Could be issues up front too if Super Hoops does not remain fit which based on form is highly likely.
Supporter world's best and worst football teams: Waikato/WaiBop, Kingz, Knights, Phoenix, The Argyle, The Whites & the All Whites

No need to worry, Waineo will win the Golden Boot and the Johnny Warren.
I have no expectations this year - might get some after Christmas once we get our visa players in and we see what our team will look like for the rest of the season.
Watched their FFA cup game. Davila was having to drop way deeper to receive the ball. De Silva was average. Noone looked dangerous.
started watching the FFA match. But turned it off as decided I really don't like Macarthur. Not sure what it is. Felt the same last year. Really hope we can beat them on Sunday.

The cow bells; Davila and Kurto; 8 players who won't take the vac; boring style of football.
100% he will start Rufer, as much as many of us don't want him to.
He knows what he will get from Rufer and will err on the side of caution, whereas Pennington and Prso are untested in this side yet.
Can see Pennington coming on for some minutes though. He has some big wraps from pundits and will probably end up one of our starting DM's if he lives upto those wraps. Laws has had a good pre season, And probably deserves the start. I feel we have better depth this year, but at the moment missing the quality that Devila and Taylor offered. Going to be really interesting to see what January brings import wise. Until then we will be up against it. Last season after 6 games we were 1-1-4 for 4 points. If this season we can be at least 2-2-2 for 8 points. I'll be happy enough.

I'm expecting
Sail Elliot Payne Laws McGarry Rufer Lewis Old Sotirio Ball Waine
I don't think Hooper & Piscopo have the fitness to start, they haven't started any of our warm up games in Aussie. Pennington & Prso will still be learning the system, so they might limited to bench appearances to begin with.
