Somewhat remotely related - it would be nice to see the team doing a bit more community appearances before the start of the next (2012/13) season.

This off-season is understandable, but I think last off-season there weren't too many Nix appearances at various suburbs/events from memory.

I think they did a fair bit of charity work in the off season, for Terry.

Genuine guys who are passionate about wgtn phoenix are at the helm. Fan support is the back bone we need to grow the dream.

From the limited notes I have, the night had these points to offer (Plus plenty more of course):
1. The Five of the 7 who were there (Rob Morrison, Gareth Morgan, Campbell, Henry and James) all want the club to be a success and for them that means earning a profit BUT all of the profit is turned back into the club in one way or another.
2. Rob mentioned that the idea of Fans investing in the club would only be viable if point 1. occurred - There's no point in asking people to buy into something that isn't a success/turning a profit.
3. Ricki and Dura are comfortable with the recruiting that has been done so far. There's a solid, stable group of guys who know how they play together etc. Dura argued that some teams in the league had nearly started their teams from scratch and had an almost entirely new group of guys - which was never a good thing.
4. Ricki continued to state that he wanted everyone to get in and support the team.
5. Nathan was grilled on ticket prices - he stated that the prices for tickets is always something that is looked at and that hopefully the prices would reflect developments in the club with projects for the future. He did not discount the idea of having cheaper tickets but stated there were a number of things that came into consideration when pricing, not only the actual game itself.

There were other things as well but I'm sure someone out there has a better memory/ability to put into words things that were said tonight.

Awesome to see the new consortium in the flesh and see that they want the club to be sustainable going into the future.

Bring on Sunday!

And probably a bit more promotion and marketing wouldn't hurt either.

The five of the seven that were there all spoke well, I've grown particularly fond of Rob Morrison, he seems a bit of a character. Liked his "business 101 speil!

Durante was asked (by his father in-law?) if he was taking care of his wife since she's about to have their first child in a month or so Hope Campbell is hooking him up with a Phil and Ted special buggy!. And he was also asked if he'd play for NZ if he was shoulder tapped by Ricki! To which he replied diplomatically "never say never"

Both him and Ricki were asked about Marco Rojas. How they were both disappointed that he left.

Seems they are keen to explore the possibility of having a team in the youth league and even a womens team. Obviously the latter is way down the track.

Ricki made a crack about Pav's getting injured but was all jokes.

can't think of anything else but if I do, it will get posted.

agree with the views above

these guys will bring a credible business model

be interesting to see if they can have an influence in terms of the A-league's strategic thinking

take home messages for me:

welnix won't be throwing money at the club but will seek to build a business that can generate a profit within their 5 year initial tenure

any such profit will be reinvested in the club

for the first two years there will be only one home game given to another centre; this will be done to grow the brand

These guys won't let the club leave Wellington (i.e within their initial 5 years)

Ricki and Dura - not surprisingly - are backing the club to do well with the playing resources that are currently available (plus some injury cover)

Ricki implied we might recruit some of that cover from Melbourne (the city I believe - not necc Victory)

surmised from Dura's response to a qn that he is holding out for an Aussie cap (despite Ricki's hints he has an All White's shirt that would fit him)

also surmised that Dura's father in-law is a bit of a dag

Good point from audience that we could do a better job of marketing to different cultural/ethnic groups in the welly region (I agree, and this would be good for both crowds and the wider development of football)

overall impressions welnix are sharp and focussed

this season and next off-season are likely to win fewer headlines of the pitch than recent times! - and, hopefully, just as many or more on it

C'MON YOU NIX!!

p.s. i've never been in a more thoughtful/mature/almost sombre group of football fans - thanks goodness for Ricki's sense of humour!

Raises a point, but wasn't he strictly talking about the Victory at the time? (The squad depth/Rojas getting game time)

This new mob sound boring as hell to me. Definitely not enough ego involved.

I mean, what's the point of having millionaires in charge if they're not going to splash the cash?

After all, Terry lost $4m just to get us to where he did.

5 years of mediocrity here we come.

Think most points have been covered.

Think the word 'long-term' was mentioned about 100 times so I think that is a clear indication that there is unlikely to be significant investment in players this year.

Also, that there is a chance of a victory attacking player to sign.
