I do agree with Smithy with the price. $12.27 per game is an amazing rate, which even as a student, you can't deny.

Although I can understand your whinging Bopman. I'm a student and $135 doesn't even cover my rent, and Aunty Helen doesn't give me anything that I don't have to pay back (and to be quite honest I don't think Uncle John will offer me any better particularly as I'm going to be an architect not a rural doctor...).

It's basically twice as much.

Will still renew but I highly doubt they will sign too many new fans with those prices.

Old fans will renew (most of them) as they follow the club and know that it's worth it, but I'm not sure whether new people will be too keen.

im in agreement with ya mate. i think a lot more students who are going to be around over summer would of bought season passes at a lesser price, obviously i didn't think it would stay at 80 but up to 135 is a big jump. and im quite ready for people to bleet at me about being a stingy student, im poor people.
in saying all this though im definelty still getting a pass, cant wait!

i still havn't seen an answer to my other question as to why someone would pay 75 for a membership which doesn't get you into any games?[/QUOTE]

for the keyring and sticker?

It is about supporting the club and feeling part of the club. The also get a scarf which other members don't.  If your passionate about the Phoenix then any type of membership is helping build the club.

Meh, it's a distraction and since I go to all the games anyway, I still save money. Plus with the sh*t crowds at rugby games, I just sit in platinum covered anyway

So with the benchwarmer thing you get the membership card and a scarf.. but you still have to buy tickets? That's kind of weird to be honest..

I'd get it if I could have say 5 tickets with it because I'll probably be @ work when most of the games are on anyway but want to come along when I can or catch the last half of the game.

It would probably appeal to alot of students like me who have crap working hours or out of towners who would pop in for a few games, and having several free tickets would provide an incentive to do so. At the moment you can have one ticket or none.. seems a bit pointless. Unless the scarf is mega sexy.. then hell yeah I'm getting one. haha.

So, let me get this straight. The students are whinging about shelling out $135 for 11 games but muppets like me are being offered the chance to shell out $100 for one game. Hmm.   Oh, sorry, I forgot the membership card and the scarf.

Better be a bloody good scarf, that's all I've got to say

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

HAHA you were so wasted that you just took it- Bob was chuffed with life that you accepted a drink that he took randomly from the bar. Then for some reason i bought you a drink while you already had two in your hand. Booze aye.

I applaud your sentiments... though those supporters living on lentil soup and two minute noodles are understandably more focused on the ROI equation.

Hey, Grow up bopman!  The government doesn't give you anything, the money comes from the rest of us working shmuks, out of our wages...you want us to buy your ticket too!!!  Learn to budget and save for your ticket  like the rest of us.  (and think yourself lucky that your rent is only $135 bucks per week!!)

A lot of us have loans to pay off, student and otherwise - welcome to the real world! Why are the students moaning about paying approximately half the price of a standard season pass! I wish I could get it at that proce, be thankful that you even get a discount! The club needs to make money to continue to provide the Footballing public the quality we demand, and your discounted tickets effect that bottom line, if I was Tony I'd be thinking stuff you whinging lot and charge you full price - you might have a reason to bleat then.

Not moaning about the price of a student pass, thats a prioty with food and rent. But the 150 a week LOAN we get for living expenses hasn't been adjusted for inflation, ridiculous rise in living costs, etc in 10 years, thats probably the issue.

The problem with being a student is that studying takes up time you could be spending working - and mixing the two isn't always realistic. It's much easier to budget and purchase stuff when you have a steady income - many of us don't have that luxury, so anything that cushions the blow is always welcome. And we don't get given money from the government - we get loaned it. It's an investment, and a hell a lot of a better one that dole bludgers.

Hijack aside, I think the student rate is very reasonable. I see no reason to complain over it, especially considering Wellington Rugby gives you so much less (for what most of us here consider something much less fun!) and has no student discount whatsoever.

i dont think 135 is a bad price, im going to pay it and most of my friends will aswell. but compare to the 80 dollars it was last season its a hefty hike. but last years price was a dead set steal.
i know a lot of people who when i told them that tickets were 80 last year but i expected them to rise a bit this year said they were really keen to get season passes.
at 135 i dont think they will.

Yeah good point bopman. People may be put off by the actual sudden hike in price, instead of the price itself (as it really is a good price!)
