Good to see Lia back, and nice to see that he could slot into where McKain was but add a bit more go-forward. In fact all three subs were terrific except for Daniel trying to head the ball in from the edge of the box.

Ifil, took on players and looked damn hungry today. He has definately given us that little extra up front to play with and will be a handful once he can last 90 minutes. Also, he was always an option for our mids to find, made them look better also.

Greenacre was solid aswell today, has a much better touch than i thought he would have.

Bertos looks like the player we all know he can be, must have being given a pretty free liscence by Herbert. A close second.

As much as I want to say Bertos for his general play and that GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL my vote this tme goes to Ifil as he was everywhere in that first half and looked all class.

Him and Greenacre look like the quality strikers we have been wishing for some time now, please let them stay injury free.

Agreed. And imagine if Bertos pulled a Hammy. *knock on wood*.
Think Greenacre was good but would have liked him to have a bit more ball.  Perhaps switching him with Costa/ Chen will change the dynamic and also push opposition defense a lot. Will be excellent to see with 15 to go

Sigmund went alright again I reckon
pleased Lia is back

champions of Brown being replaced by Ferrante may have had an interesting first 10mins
don't rate our Goalie much, sorry.
some of the decision making by both full-backs seems flawed.
crossbar did well in the second half

but 3 points is good eh
and teams that win titles always get wins ugly style over the course of the season.

Bertos easily, lead the attack, played the ball through for Ifill to score....

So great as well to see a Wellington lad winning the game, and being the fans man of the match two weeks running. First game I thought it could've been tragic if Bertos wasn't playing - this game others looked dangerous at times as well.

Front four were excellent and really hard to pick one in particular from Ifill Bertos Greenacre and Diego, but for me Ifill really stood up and I hope that goal will provide him with great confidence to begin the season

The two stand out players for me were (surprise surprise) Bertos and Ifill.

Work rate of both was great.  Ifill showed some nice touches and Bertos as always the play maker (reminds me of Liam Brady - apologies to fellow Yidos but even I can appreciate a good gooner).

Leo. Ifill and Leo were both brilliant in the first half but faded in the 2nd. Leo's ridiculous goal clinched it though. Ifill's hunger was really impressive - he's not here to stuff around and have a holiday, that's for sure. Same with Greenacre. Like em both already.

Honorable mention to Diego and McKain - McKain faded in the last 20 and struggled a bit but I thought he was very, very good in the first. Diego took up the attack from Ifill and Leo in the 2nd and did well playing in a position unsuited to him.

Having watched it again when we got back, I was really impressed with Diego, he kept Perth very busy, far better midfield effort this week. Ifill excellent and of cause Bertos. Defense miles better.

i'm sorry, but i do not see how leo was mom.

the only thing he did was put in a couple of crosses and scored a screamer.

most of his crosses where sh*t tbh.

(does he practise with midgets ???????)

my mom was Ifill.

worked hard (very hard)

dribbled past countless defenders.

scored a terrific goal.

had 2 cracking shots (both saved superbly)

but hey - this is just my opinion.

i voted Ifill for the fact he was freaking dangerous with the ball and when perth figured that out he got marked big time, lots of the time he had two guys on him.

Phoenix players should know that an assist and a goal don't deserve MotM no matter how fantastic.

Ok. You said 'the only thing he did was put in a couple of crosses and scored a screamer'. The 'only' thing he did was put in a terrific cross for the first goal (and several other good crosses) and scored a screamer that won us the game. That constitutes a very good game for most attacking players, I would say.

In saying that I thought Ifill was very good also and I reckon he can only get better when his match and general fitness improves.

"and several other good crosses" ????????????

you must be kidding me.

as i said :

"does he practise with midgets???"

over half of his "several crosses"(and free kicks AND corners) were below the waist.

and if you think Bertos "had a very good game" based on that

you my friend have VERY LOW STANDARDS.

they're so low - it's pathetic.

I half agree with you (but not the bit about valeo having low standards). Quite a few of his crosses, corners and free kicks were poor. BUT it's all the other stuff he did which frankly won the game for us. He was the lynchpin for nearly all of our most dangerous attacks, he ran at the defence constantly and made life very difficult for them, he was all over the park, several times switching from flank to flank.

His aggression was what gave us all the momentum, and of course he provided the crucial crosses and that goal. Jeez, what more can you ask from him? He was fantastic, well worth MOM.
