I was counting.  Newcastle played 3 times more long ball than we did.  Let's not perpetuate the myth.

PS.  I'm not excusing that we were awful.

I'm just suprised that Bertos is winning so comprehensively. I didn't really think he dominated the game as much as he could have.

Yes but compared to everyone else he was miles better.

It was lucky for Leo that Greenacre scored, Ifill looked the best option, open on the left.

Bertos all the way, both goals came from his attacking presence, seriously worried about the back four, Siggy and Durante had shockers.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Leo easily MOM.

And for those bagging Paston, he did nothing wrong the whole game. Stop bagging the guy for the sake of bagging him.

Another case of a Keeper let down by his back line.

If Leo could score goals Id name him for Primeminister!

Leo finally started using his pace like he was doing in the first half of last season.  May it continue and may Brown be swapped for Diego.

Bertos was very good yesterday deserves mom.

Him and Hearfield needed that link player in the center though when they cut inside, but they never had one, because we play with two dms.

next week i want to go for Mckain in the backs, brown dropped and have Ferrante in there with diego a little more advanced. We should try to play to our strength which this year looks to be our attack.

Not a bad idea, but we all know Dura is capable of faar better performances, if it was just a bad day for him wouldn't we rather keep McKain in midfield?

Promising signs despite the 4 or 5 complete lapses in concetration at the back. Would like to see Ricki to be a bit more gutsy and play someone creative in the middle. Thought  Greeacre and Ifill did themselves justice for debuts. Paston wasn't to blame this time. Still flaps about too much for my liking. I still think Locky is hung over from his middlesbro trial - in no-mans land a lot of the time.I'm still pretty hopefull of some good results this year.

When has Paston ever been to blame? The only time I can remember was that time vs Sydney (I think) and the ball slipped underneath him due to the terrble ground conditions and the weather not to mention it bounced right before him. Even then it was only a slight mistake.wellyphoenixfan2009-08-12 22:07:29

I'm in the leave paston alone camp....

first goal was a brilliant lob from the edge of the box....

second goal, how can the goalie be at fault when the bloody defense left Song on the 6 yard box....completly unmarked. Paston made a brilliant save but unfortunately the rebound went to their player.

third goal....Siggy couldn't stop the cross. We had a guy on the front post and someone on the back post....the striker ran in between them and had a free header. Neither of our defenders marked the man or tried getting goal side of him.

Go and watch the goals again...it was crap defending not goalie error

You could argue that he should have stopped the second goal first time instead of pumping it in front of the strikers feet, BUT really, as you point out, if the defence had done it s job properly, there would never have been a save worth making in respect to that second goal.

Answered your own question there. So he struggles to keep on lumpy surfaces or in wet weather...? He's just not as solid as some in the league. His kicking is a bit dodge too.

on 442 isn't it if I recall correctly. I think he is also the only player not to be in a weekend winning team to be on the A-league team of the week.

I'd say

3) Greenacre
2) Ifill
1) Bertos
