Bloody AWESOME.
Hats off to Tony P! This signing really puts us up another level, and really gives the squad a quality look all over the park.
2008/09 A-League CHAMPIONS.

Erm, I'd wait to see how Mulligan fits into the team and the league before making any grand statements...

ok, i'll just make a statement..... [yay]
I like tautologies because I like them.

Getting depth in the back is to be recommended. Puts pressure on players to perform when a young'n wants your job too!

ever the cautious one el.
Brilliant signing! Got the most excited out of any of them so far

awesome news, where does that leave Lia, back in the midfield or cover for right back??
Queenslander 3x a year.

What a signing lets hope he can slot some free kicks and fix the right back problem.

No, it's OK mate. It's just that the last time I saw Mulligan play was against Vanuatu, and free kicks aside, he was fairly average.
I don't want to judge his current ability by that one performance, it's just that I want to see how he fits in before getting too excited. Hopefully he turns out like Smeltz, guy who struggles in the lower reaches of English football and flourishes back home. Especially since I'm not convinced by Lia at right back.

Hmm fair enough. Am sure he will prove to be the answer to our right back situation

Where does Mulligan play mainly? I was under the impression he was a midfielder? Has he played at right back much? We need another back much more than another midfielder.

I was actually very impressed by him at the Vanuatu game.
Got involved a lot, pushed up like Lochead does on the left, and the free kicks were an (excellent) bonus.

He would surely be better than any make-shift right back.
Hopefully we well see some overlapping movements on both flanks now!
Can't wait... I'll get a preview when we play Bling in W'gong...

Mainly as a left back or a right back.
But has the ability to push into the midfield

OK then, sweet. Probably the best we could realistically hope for without spending a tonne.

That's interesting. I know a lot of people who were very disappointed by him in that game.
But like I said, don't want to dwell on that one performance, I really want to see what he has to offer to the Phoenix right now.

Personally of what i saw of it on Tv1 i thought he was very good. Cleared up any problems the defense had to deal with and on numerous occasions pushed forward to help. And also slotted that great free kick

Mighty pleased with this signing alright.
I thought we could be reasonably confident of a top 4 finish before he came on board, but now that he is here to shore up our main weak spot we should do quite well.

We have unbelievable depth. A great defender (or midfielder) and takes a cracking free kick. Great signing. The icing on the cake!No doubt it will take him a few weeks to get up to speed (he has been out of contract for a while) but what a signing

Awesome signing!!! Makes my mouth water for the season kickoff even more!!!

He will be a huge assset especiall as a dead ball specialist, His last manager said there wasn't a better free kick taker in the League.
Only concern is his fitness. He has had problems in the past and may be a bit off the pace having not played for a while. So unless he has been training himself he might be a bit behind.

Looks good, I'm all in favor of giving kiwi performers a chance. If he can live up to expectations at RB then our squad is looking very, very nice going into the new season, especially on the back of last night's efforts. Hope his fitness isn't too bad and that he can defend properly. Can't wait to see him curl in one of those trademark free kicks :]

Great news, a new recruit and targeted as a RB obviously without using Marquee status or one of our overseas player spots. Should be just what we need a bit of extra depth back there in that key weakspot of the nix.
how many signings do we have left? I've got a feeliong there's just one left, meaning that we won't be using 1 possibly 2 overseas spots
You know we belong together...
Who cares, I think our squad is just about right as it is. Maybe a striker on a guest spot sometime during the season would be nice?
Awesome signing. And he's a kiwi boy too! Marvellous
Lets see a few of those talked about free kicks before we praise him too much
Permalink
great signing tho, not only does it mean we have a proven right-back, but we also now have much needed cover for tony lochead should he be injured/suspended
You know we belong together...
