Why didnt they show the time and score in the top left hand corner of the screen?

Looked great. I think he could easily start next to Cahill & Leckie.

It was the crossbar.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Certainly didn't do his chances any harm - but think he will still start on the bench next match. Would probably bring him on before Juric this time though.

Certainly made an impact. Well done Burnsy.

Good 20 min cameo for Burnsy. Had one audacious header hit the crossbar and one shot save at point blank range by some great keeping. Really unlucky not to score. Other than that he had some great touches and looked really good on the ball.

They say that sometimes a change of club can bring the best out of a player (don't ask me who, I don't know) but in the case of Mr Burns, it has proved quite correct.

Those tops the hatrick week looked great I thought. Its been a pleasure having Burnsy, he has had such a serious season. One thing for sure as reality has it, he going to be in for a massive pay day from somewhere.

Cahill and centre-back Matthew Spiranovic have been ruled out of the 10-day European camp, which includes next week's friendly in Macedonia, while Massimo Luongo and Tomi Juric are in serious doubt to face Germany with groin problems.

It could mean prominent roles for the likes of James Troisi, Nathan Burns and Alex Wilkinson, though Postecoglou must carefully assess his players' fitness given heavy club schedules and the fact many arrived in Germany with less than three days to prepare.

Great to see Burns so influential against Germany yesterday.

Burns a threat right from the outset.

You can watch the whole game on demand for free here:

http://livefootballvideo.com/fullmatch/world/frien...

Scroll down to where it says "Full Match Video" and it's one video for each half.

Coverage from BT Sport via ESPN in the UK - English commentators Stewart Robson and Peter Drury.

It's great that the English commentators talk about "the great form he's been in with Wellington Phoenix in the A-League with 13 goals" etc.

Wellington Phoenix getting prominent mentions during Germany internationals now - good stuff !!!

This sort of exposure won't do Burns' career prospects any harm - but will the Nix be able to hold onto him next season?

I don't think there is any way we will be able to hang onto him.

I do think there is a fair possibility we will get a decent transfer fee, though - likely from an Asian club. (i'm picking China)

I really hope we get the best out of that if it happens. What is this rumoured clause in his contract to leave for free/very little in the next off season?

Should we be extending his contract and inserting a buy-out clause to ensure we make reasonable money here?

I saw with the German commentator. He talked that Socceroos changing to play modern, less 'rustic', hoofballing football. That the players are from all the world and never see each other. He talked also that the Australians players have a very relaxed, easy going but never die attitude. I guess for most Germans, they look at the players with amazement and thing 'look they are from Australia', very exotic.

He mentioned the A-League and that Burns is playing for the Phoenix, the only NZ club in the Australian League. He also mentioned that Broich is big hit over here. But you could feel that the commentators don't, take them very seriously, just a good team to test some new tactics and players. He had a terrible pronouncing of 'Nathan'.

Played pretty well again this morning. Looked to have got through injury free.

Permalink Permalink

Sounds like he was by far the most dangerous on attack against Macedonia - twice as many chances as anyone else (about 2...)

Sounded like a crap game.

Permalink Permalink

On a real crap bumpy pitch apparently; lucky he didnt get injured.
