Cheers, wasn't sure if  posted it from my phone or not. I typed up this:

I think it is a scam, a few years back when involved in some QPR  merchandise, I had a guy from Poland asking for free jersey's etc. That was a con. He was asking it pretty much the same way as this guy.

Great point and why does it have to be so big?

I tweeted the image of the Real Oviedo kits above and the Nix official account 'liked it', so they've seen it or at least their Soc med folk have...

We'll need something against the Mariners when they come to Westpac because they chose yellow as an away kit.

They are the away side, so they will play in their 3rd kit (probably the pink they have had in previous seasons)

We've switched at home before. The Black Out game against Adelaide while our license was threatened, the Hobbit themed kits, the "home" somewhere in Auckland against the Victory where it was grey V white and we literally painted the grass green.

We chose to change in those games though. Mariners don't get the right to force us to change when they are the away team.

Correct me if I am wrong. The club badge on the shirts is essentially a 'bit of plastic' and is not embroidered.

That the case?

I hope it is embroided. "Iron on" won't last the distance.

'Iron on' it is.

Charitably - an oversight.

More likely - cost of manufacture could be reduced. By what? A few cents?

Won't ever be a huge production run, saving dollars makes so much sense, especially when 99% off consumers won't give a toss.

Frustrating that fans seem to look for a chance to drag the club down at every opportunity. Try looking for all the good things in life.

How do you know that?

Cost of actual production on a run, even at this scale, is not great. Remember the mark up is in the region of 1000%.

Bear in mind that this is a $120 item. Surely it is not unreasonable to expect some, a little, quality with that?

I have a Southern United replica shirt, it has an embroidered badge. $50. Just saying.

Has anyone figure what is under the 'plastic badge'?  I suspect that there was something that delayed the badge or someone in manufacture cocked up meaning the iron on is a late change to plans.

Mocks I saw earlier appeared to have a proper sublimated badge.

The Actual cost to get a logo embroidered on a shirt is $6.50 on a fairly small run of shirts

WTF is that kit linked? (old HAL logo as well):

Hope no one bought that expecting it to be the replica kit as it is sold by Ryos

This is the the kit for $120:

My guess is the decision to change the club's logo was after the deadline to have the new logo made into the shirt.

This would make sense, but isn't the case to my knowledge. The logo was locked in well in advance of kit deadlines.

What the fudge is up with that sleeve trim? It looks fudgeing terrible! Looks like someone's been out with some spray paint and painted it black after production.

Fans being critical of items that cost money isnt the same as trying to "drag the club down at every opportunity".

This is a bunch of consumers, many of who have already put $180 towards the club this year, discussing the value of another $120 spend.  It's reasonable to criticize an element of a unifrom without dragging the club down.

Roger that, I may have gone in guns blazing here, a reflection of my mood maybe.

Edit. Would still love more positivity around here in general however.

Can't disagree with that.  If the team gets some wins under the belt I'm sure the forums will lift in mood.

Exactly, for $120.00 one would expect some form of quality. $300.00 before the season has even kicked off. Then there's the travel to games. Not cheap in this low wage economy. Bucket List wish is to go to a game or two in Australia. But not this season, new baby here. 3 kids and wife to come before the Nix.

Just as background information, Adidas NZ need an 18 month lead in time for shirts. So Phoenix had to lock in designs 18 months ago. Given the logo wasn't confirmed until recently I suspect it wasn't possible to stitch it on so iron on was the only option.

Cheers Dale, Although I would imagine to get a patch made and then sewn on, might take roughly the same amount of time as printing and ironing on a transfer

I'm pretty sure (though not completely sure) that all of that kinda stuff is done overseas and hence the lead in time. So there is big competition with every other Adidas sponsored team in the world to get their kits done. Given how few we sell/need I don't think we get prioritised that highly.

Whereas iron on can be done locally.

Hopefully it's just this season.

True. Next season , we might get a small sponsor logo and in a colour matching ours.

Could a second run of shirts come with an embroidered badge? Much like with the last stripey, you could get some without the Huawai sponsor early in the season and then later on, they came with the sponsor printed into the shirt as opposed to ironed on like previous years.
