He's pretty much the exact type of player we need. An EXPERIENCED defender. Maybe not the most skiled or whatever - but we just need someone to rally the defence and help organise the bastards.

If he isn't a natural right back then we shouldn't get him. We need an out and out right back.

Lads, this is from the 4-4-2 rumour mill.

Anyone here could have made that up and posted it, and I think the fact that they can't even spell recently is an indication of the credibility of the story.

I have taken it down from the front page for this reason.

for Inter Milan. He never made it to the National Side, although he played some 20 games with the U-21 and he made the Olympics (I think in 95).

Nobody is like Roberto Carlos!! but hey, he still stole Carlos' place at Inter Milan..a rather noteworthy point..

I will say this.

He is unemployed, and has been linked to other A-League sides.  However Tony P has been on radio sport today saying they plan to look at 'local football' first.

no point clark,
it's the same story. They can't confirm or deny. Like with Elrich. There might be rumors, but either one day you jump on the forum and read "Deal done!" or nothing will be made (or said) of it.

They wouldn't confirm Elrich two hours before his signing, they aren't going to confirm or deny anything in here and I think they would be foolish to do so.

Let's not try and scare Tony away.

I suggest all of us put up the $$$, get Bobo Balde (sounds like a made up name if you ask me) to sign for the Phoenix, and in return Scottish Bhoy (got to love him since he supports Celtic, but honestly!) promises never to put Mr Balde's name in a post ever ever ever again.  Or to suggest Stan Varga, Tommy Boyd, John Greig or any other geriatic Celtic defender.  Paddy Crerand perhaps?  Cantona forever2007-11-07 21:25:05

Johnny Tambouras is considerably better than ODor, he wouldn't be too expensive and would walk into the starting line-up as it is.

You do know that John Greig played for Rangers, don't you?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Yes I do.  Trying to get a bite from ScottishBhoy but he clearly saw the pisstake and ignored it!  John Greig was a complete cock who could never have played for a decent team like Celtic.

So Tony P has said they will be looking local for new players. The regional leagues in Australia have just finished i believe. So what defenders in this league have been the best?

Yeah if we could then we coul look at Drogba. I hear he is unhappy at Chelsea and is looking for a move. He could be a good back up option for Smeltz.

Tony P mentioned on radio sport they are looking local and then referred to the Australian League. I'd guess someone like John Tambouras would be an ideal fit. He's got the expereince through the Knights, playing fitness etc. + speaks English and knows Ricki and Moss/Paston.
