So when do we find out what day the playoff will be on? I need to book some flights up from Christchurch.

Monday or Tuesday are my guess, I remember the FFA was pretty quick on sorting the fixtures out for the finals series in the past.ashby2012-03-20 14:54:41

I hope not Friday the 30th

Officially? About an hour after the last regular season game, i.e. 11.30pm Sunday night NZ time.

Unofficially? Well, Friday night is unlikely because any game that beats the curfew at Westpac would have to start in the late afternoon for Aussie tv audiences. The Hurricanes are playing on Saturday, so that really only leaves Sunday 1st April.

Thoughts, anyone else?

Yea I'm hoping for a Sunday game but I'm not sure if I want to book without knowing for certain.

I'd go along with your reasoning Iffy I think Sunday pm would be the obvious answer.

I assume that the curfew must take into account the possibility of extra time, it does seem to make sense then to have the game on Sunday. However, hopefully the pitch is not in a bad state post Hurricanes.

I think you are pretty on-the-money there Mr Iffy. That's how I see it as well but at the moment I only know as much as you. I will try and find out more though.

I have a 100 miler up around the top of Kapiti Island and back down to Queen Charlotte Sound, that starts at 9pm Friday night.

So I am hoping for a Sunday game.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Cheers!

It's bloody difficult for me with work for the next 2 weekends! Awful timing.

If I don't know by thursday or friday I'm going to have to take a 50/50 shot at which day it will be. Same with the 2nd round (If we have a home final then too)

Take annual leave for both days just to make sure?

I am surprised that this decision couldn't be made earlier, us and Perth can only finish 3rd or 4th so they should be have been able to work out dates and not have to leave it until the end of the weekend. Hopefully see something asap

The latest I've heard is that TV scheduling takes precedence above anything else and because of the time difference in Perth they are less likely to have the friday game.

Still waiting to hear more but I think that it will be announced pretty soon after they figure it all out. I doubt they want to be keeping people waiting any longer than they have to.

Are they trying to schedule one game on each day? So one on Friday, one on Sat and one on Sun? As opposed to two games on Sunday?

All we need is a relative K/O time to NZ time for any away game. ie 3.30 pm oz = 5.30 pm nz or 5.30 oz =7.30 nz      Not 8.00 pm oz = 10.00 pm NZ.

I don't actually know but I'm assuming so. They usually spread the games accross the weekend don't they?

Finding pretty tough to get any info so just hang tight and wait for an announcement soon.

Normally yes. But 2 of the teams have ground clashes on the Sat night. Given the success of the marathon day, 3 back to back on a Sunday hopefully will be considered.

Also, whoever wins the league gets to pick if they play home or away in the first leg of the finals play off against the 2nd place team. Broncos play at Suncorp on the Friday night, so that comes into calculations also.

7:00pm in Wellington = 4:00pm Brisbane.

No issue

Looking at what the other codes have scheduled, you have no Rugby on the Sunday and no blockbuster NRL or AFL games to compete with. The FFA has 3 time zones to play with, so could do back to back easy and make a day of it.

Sunday is not a good day for me.

I want to be able to score afternoon off work friday and have a blinder rather than a 600+ km round trip in the Holden Vectra on the sunday.

Sort it out TopLeft!!!

Mate Friday suits me better as well.

Dear FFA,

In regards to the up coming A-League play offs series, it would be much appreciated if the Wellington game could be scheduled for Friday the 30th as myself and C-Diddy both have respective piss trips in mind which can only be made possible if the game is not played on Sunday.

Cheers,

TL.

Whenever they schedule it is not going to suit everyone, no matter what day it is on.

Sounds like their highest priority is their TV audience, so it would not surprise me at all if the game is on at 8 or 8.30 on Friday, as this is a much better time for viewing in Australia than if the game were to be at 7pm our time.

In saying that, I love the idea of a Super Sunday with our game, the CCM vs Brisbane game and then the Perth game all after another.

If the FFA are reading this thread and taking a tally of votes to decide:

I vote Friday.

HUGE stretch for me to be able to make it on Sunday...
