lochead has to stay on left, would negate the threat he creates by playing him in holding midfield. cant see team from last week changing, which is unlucky for daniel

I think we should drop Elrich, and put Lochead in to his position. He needs to start playing better, our marquee midfielder shouldn't be outshone by a defender.

Hopefully he'd gain the motivation to play better.

Yeah may Lochead outside Elrich. Elrich's pace, ( when he wakes up) would be useful there

can't see why you'd drop Lia, he's finding some real form of late,

as Bop Man says Lochhead needs to stay wide (and on the left - not outside Elrich)

it seems possible that Daniel might miss out on a starting place again, Jonno, Tim Brown, and Ross Aloisi might be fighting for one or two places on the bench

whilst conventional wisdom states that you don't change a winning team, Ricki might have a specific response planned following our earlier matches v Qlnd

hmmm is o'dor injured or am i the only 1 who would feel a lot more comfortable playing him instead of old... cause as far as i've seen this season, o'dor hasnt given away a needless penatly to give away an equaliser in injury time, rugby tackled a defender or taken out the keeper to have a good goal disallowed....

                                    Moss
          Rees                Dodd             O'Dor
   Ferrante      Lia       Brown/aloisi    Felipe        Lochead

I'm a fan of Lia's, and have really taken a shine to Ferrante over the last few weeks too. He's at his best in the middle of the park.

Haven't been impressed really at all with Elrich. Marquee signing on some big coin, needs to wake his idea's up. Hope RH starts him from the bench this weekend.

I like Muso's team above. I would swap Lia and Ferrante, and at this stage would favour Aloisi to start and then come off for Brown at about the 55-60min mark.

Lol @ putting Lochhead as a defensive midfielder and  dropping Lia + putting Elrich on the left + Felipe in the middle. That team would get torn apart.

Crack is whack, son.

Should be the same team as last week but Elrich on the bench and Aloisi/Johnson/Brown in the starting line up. Either of those 3 can take Ferrante's spot and he can take Elrich's.

Why change a winning team?
Elrich is only going to get better, Lochead has the ability to both fall back and attack.
Aloisi starts assuming he's fit, otherwise Ferrante and Johnson bench.

Bench- Paston, O'Dour,Daniel,Johnson/Brown

drop Old. keep Lochy out wide. Ferrante and Elrich marginal. Would love to see Daniel back with Felipe. Could prob give Smeltz and Cov another crack together...there must be a team in there somewhere

old is soooooo overrated, he never puts his body on the line for the team and always looks uncomfortable, yes he's young but its no coincidence that he gives away these stupid brain explosions. next year get rid of him and bring in tought tackling hardman ben sigmund.

i saw old play 10 minutes in a game for newcastle last year and in that ten minutes he was at fault for 4 goal scoring oppurtunitys that the other team should have put away.

last but not least if ya representing the nix why not do it with some pride, he never shows any determination nor does he ever slide tackle.

they needa drop elrich. hes rubbish. how many times does he give the early cross in only to have it bloked by the first defender. its as though he has given up on even tryiing to beat his man.

Subs:Paston, Christie, Felipe, Elrich

I'm aware that my sanity may be questioned over this line-up, but I think it could work well. We have a good defence, a hard as nails defensive mid three, two brilliant attacking midfielders, and a good striker in support of Smeltz (and don't forget Moss in goal).

there's no way you can drop Lia or Ferrante, they have been key to our revival in fortunes. We have tried Brown, Johnson and Aloisi in the middle and none of them have done as well as the current pairing.

I would go back to 442 and drop Elrich:

Not questioning your sanity but i do have a few questions...

Didn't you notice Lochy's attacking contribution playing wide left mid?

given Qld's pace on the counter wouldn't Lia be useful in centre mid?
(3 ballwinners in midfield seems excessive  -even though it might be good to have a least one of them to say hello to Moore and Tiatto if necessary)

Felipe had a good game, so why drop him?

i think plodder might be worth a look if we carry on playing 3 at the back. he didnt stuff up anymore than oldy has but i guess old is a more accomplished defender and in a 3-53 formation a legit defender is perhaps more desirable

It was between Old and Lochhead and I chose Lochhead. Also, with three defensive midfielders, Lochhead would be able to go for runs up the field safe in the knowledge that his position would be covered.

I completely forgot about Lia, so we can add him to the squad (and hope the ref doesn't notice a 12th player), or, we can bank on Brown, Aloisi, and Johnson chopping down their quick players.

I rate Felipe as a player, but over the last few weeks he hasn't impressed me a great deal (with the exception of his goal against Perth).

I'd like Ricki to try this team out just to see how it'd go.

One thing I will say to the lads, if you get near Collapsible Kruse he's going to ground so just make sure the little f**ker doesn't get up.  Just earn the freekick.

man i wish we had sigmund right about now, then there would be no argument about our back 3..

Lochhead must stay in the midfield, one thing i've noticed since the start of the season, like the black caps playing better with lou vincent, we seem to look way better on attack with lochhead up there
Put Elrich to the benh and play 1 ball winner with lia and ferrante as distributors/ general midfield, Lochhead in that category but for his runs up the wing, Felipe to be the instigator on attack, and covs to recieve as a foil to smeltz.

I dont see any need to change the team from last week, and I reckon it will be only injuries that force it

Aloisi doesnt get back in ahead of Ferrante or Lia, Both of those are fast runners and coverers.

Elrich will come right I am sure, still finding his feet a bit but he is class and that will come through

Old/O'Dor are either/ or, both not quite strong enough, but improving.

Lochhead looks great given a licence to attack down the left, bring on Daniel for whoever gets tired in the attacking third, and Johnson for a tired midfielderhepatitis2007-12-10 23:11:57

Elrich's been finding his feet for long enough. He needs to show us why he's earning the big bucks, right now.

I want Brown back in that midfield, which looked rudderless after our second goal last week. He is such a level head, and confidence-inspiring in a way that I'm afraid Lia and Ferrrante aren't.

And whether it's Old, O'dor or Christie at the back hardly matters - there'll be giggles and forehead slapping aplenty as usual. Just hope Moss doesn't have an off day.

Brownie was really poor against Adelaide though...he'll have to earn his place back for me. I think we've also seen that Ferrante is a better player the less goal scoring opportunities he has. We don't need him pushing on, that's not his job. If it's an attacking mid you want then it's Daniel, if it's a distributor, then Ferrante.

We were poor for most of that second half and a better team would have punished us even with 10. I think we've done our dash on 3-5-2, I'd like to see us back to a 4-4-2, Locky at LB where he was so good in the first 5 games overlapping

I reckon we need both Brazilians on, otherwise they'll target Felipe again and kick the sh#t out of him again!  Maybe bring put Elirch on the bench to teach him a starting position is not a right and he'll have to play well to get one.

I'm agreeing with betters - normally I feel it's best to only have one on at a time, but hopefully spreading the two will dilute Queensland's "pretend their shinpads are the ball" strategy.

I'd also be tempted to put Plodder in Old's spot, but I'd rather not shake up the team after last week's loss "glorious" defeat of Perth's purple pie-eaters (Edit - Fixed. Now where did I put my caffeine tablets?)

I very much want him to play. If they are going to try to kick him out the game this time hopefully we get a half decent ref. Last game it was almost like they thought Felipe was a diver just because Daniel is.
