Any updates on Reno Piscopo?

Any young kiwis or Aussies at European clubs who might want to come back on loan for a season of first team football?

That is a great question - a whole other pathway of finding players I had not thought of - there must be a few decent Aussies fancying a trip back home.

Considering he wouldn't take up a visa spot would be a great pick up but think Victory would be his first choice

He's an Australian, the club has also tried to get him a couple of times before so it's not a bad shout.

Berisha would be about as clear a violation of the no cocks rule as you could imagine, but what the hell, I'd take him

If we can pick up a striker who can get us at least 10+ a season (which Berisha would) as a local player then I would be over the moon even if he is a bit of a dick

Would've taken him after his spell at Melbourne but his recent spells with Mariners and Motherwell were pretty bad and he was overweight irrc

I feel like there are two forms of dickheads though. There's the lazy, arrogant, primadonna Carlos Hernandez type who is detrimental to his own club and team mates because of a dickhead attitude, and then there is the absoute cod-on-the-pitch, Kevin Muscat type dickheads who all other clubs hate but their own fans and team mates love because they'll do anything for the team. I think Berisha is the latter, and although I have hated him for many years, it's mainly been because he was bloody good at scoring goals. Off the pitch he seems like an alright bloke

And you need only one dickhead in the team (Berisha, O'Donovan, Simon etc), there is just no room for more than one.

I don't care if they are dicks on the field (might be part of their process to fire themselves up)... off it, I want them to be decent human beings that represent the club proudly.

Simon is a good example.

Taylor is an intereting case... womaniser, cheat off the field... humourous bloke on it, is that better than Simon who is the reverse??

Cheat? He's a single man. Not sure how it was even a news story.

Newsflash: Single bloke dates women

Permalink Permalink

I believe he was dating multiple women at the time and they were unaware of each others' existing, which may not be "cheating" but is the kind of behaviour I disapprove of. That said, holy shark there would be very few healthy young sports professionals who don't do things I disapprove of in their time off.

Was a news story because he called them both Long Pins. That's hilarious and exactly the sort of thing people want to read in the news.

Also inspired one Sunday League side to name themselves Steven Taylor and the Long Pins.

All round good outcomes out of that one I think.

was it one or two seasons ago we were complaining about the lack of "gossip" coverage of the Nix (A year or so after shorty appearance) which would bring Nix to light for a lot of non football people well BOOM Long Pins did it!!

basically all the woman whom he cheated on hate him

And everyone else loves him because he acts like a top bloke

The truth usually is somewhere in between

He is however a top salesman so if he can convince a top import striker to come here then I will forgive whatever he has done

Sorry, but I think cheating on multiple girls at the same time, including one who was long term and not even having the energy or creativity to give them seperate nick names makes you more of a COD than a guy who gets mouthy at everyone on a footy pitch in the middle of a contest.

I like Taylor, but lets not all pretend he's a stand-up bloke, because if it wasn't for the free game day tickets you would get, no one would be happy if he dated their sister or daughter.

Durante and Siggy were both CODs on the pitch, but ours so we forgave them. Siggys elbow on Kruse was nothing short of thuggery, same with his stomp etc.

The question of "how squaky clean do you like your sports role models to be?" is a well-worn one and extensively covered by others.

If the double-dating stories are an ongoing issue then I am unlikely to invite Taylor to a family BBQ at my place. However, while double-dating is a social/moral misdemeanor, it is not a crime, unsavoury as it is.  And in our society it is not always just the blokes that are doing it.

But tolerating that in people playing for us does not make us look like we live in glass houses. It is a question of balance. A problem off the field must be significant enough to override the quality of a player's contribution on the field to merit a censure. Conversely, a good consistent on-field contribution can be redemptive.

FFS seems like some of you would be happy with a team of losers who are  squeaky clean.Shark since when did double dating someone become such a bad thing.Yep not ideal but come on,bloody hell some of you must live perfect bloody lives the way some of the posts read.

Dont care if a player is perceived as a  prat as long as he dosnt disrupt the team and turns up and does his job on game day then he is our prat.Cant believe some of the rubbish posted nothing like the off season.

I don't care either... my message is, there is no COD rule in reality. As fans we will forgive pretty much anything if the player brings enough to a team.

Is that right, no. Is it reality, yes.

Saying we don't want a player because of their behaviour is about as hollow as a comment one can find anywhere. If Berisha scored a goal every second game he would be loved!
