Pinjanker can still be a target - he's at a third division club in Sweden - probably has a get out free clause if he wants it/Edge wants it for him.

4th Tier actually and his team are bottom.

Which consists of 6 regional leagues! Has to be mud.

Probably keeping fit & doing Declan a favour, whilst looking elsewhere in Europe.

We shouldn't be surprised if all of the Ole U20 boys, bypass the Nix.

Yeah I'd say the Norwegian top flight is better than the Aussie one.

Well, no, Rollo just reminded everyone what Wynton had said.

Rollo mentioned him and Rufer didn't, but that's besides the point lol. Having an established Kiwi in the same sentence as a club like that (Ollie Derlin played for Dortmund's youth though he was only 15 or 16) is immense

So assuming Waine and Stensness are given new contracts (which has been implied by Uffie) we finally have an XI of sorts. If we roll out with that defence mid-season I'd be reasonably happy, really interested to see what strikers and midfielders we are trying to sign now. We'll have an FFA cup game in six weeks so hopefully we've got a couple of our imports by then.

It's an XI so that's a start, actually relatively happy with that lineup at the back and Rufer and Singh in the middle. If DeVere's knee can hold up through a 30 odd game season that gives us a solid base at the back from which to build the rest of our squad in this off season. He replaces at least some of the experience that we lost in Durante, and with his height will give us options from the set piece as well as aerial coverage at the back.

Still those four import slots to fill too which is more than exciting - If we can't get Bell, and it's looking a little unlikely at this stage... I'll go with an import slot for DM, another Midfield option (either central or right sided), a striker of some substance - Boy do we need one, and probably another Defender as 3 of the 4 have all tended to go down with pretty significant or persistent injury problems in the past.

Any word on McCowatt or is he going to give the Swedish 4th tier a go?

Looks like we are in for Ryan McGowan also, I wonder if this was before we signed DeVere tho

It’s understood the Sky Blues are offering a multi-year deal, and are favourites to get their man ahead of other interested parties, including Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City, Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix.

He can play anywhere over the back four iirc, so could be a RB option if we are still chasing him? Dunno if we can compete with Sydney tho.

He's a good player, and one that we should definitely be in for - it's unlikely that we will get him though.

Jesse Curran, 22 year old Aussie would be worth checking out. Out of contract with Dundee who are looking to re-sign him, but with them relegated to Scottish Championship (briefly) it seems he may be looking at other options. Mainly plays anywhere on the right, pacey & dangerous going forward. Can cover in midfield too.

You reckon he'd be within our budget?

Apparently Dundee's average wage is £35k, and last season was his first of playing regularly so would have been on less than that.

Actually he says the door is still open to a return, but he'd rather stay in Poland. Interesting he mentioned a spat with Rudan early on in the season which (alongside a minor injury) was the reason he was left out of the squad.

Yeah is quite interesting to show why he wasn't used. Everyone was assuming he was still injured/unfit at the time.

Most people figured he just wasn't good enough at the start of the season, no?

Yeah, basically the calls at the time was either that he wasn't good enough or wasn't fit enough when he came to us. It appears from his comments that, that may not have been the case.

In the Australian league will play next season Radosław Majewski. The services of Jose Kante and Michał Kucharczyk were also questioned.

Polish WSW fan tells me it was us looking at Michał Kucharczyk but is unsure if our interest is still current.

Not amazing stats but I think he would tear up this league tbh.

Hopefully we can lock in Stensness soon, too. Wonder if there are any Aussie clubs circling for him?

Stensness turned down the Nix's offer. He's looking overseas.

That's a shame. Was Stensness dropped for the aussie age group teams by Talay? Wonder if that was a factor?

Stensness never really stood out to me, honestly; still a bit disappointing we can't even retain youth players.

Happy Waine has signed; has bags of potential.

Stensness had a good u20 campaign and scoring that goal would have helped his cause.

If nothing happens in Europe he will come back to us IMO.

Yep, high stocks are at a high so its understandable that he will look to take a chance and look for that dream move overseas.

Waine on Radio sport said he had offers in Europe as well. Can't remember who said the u20s isn't a great window to get scouted from, but they are being proven wrong!

Logan Rogerson has left Carl Zeiss Jena by mutual consent. Worth a trial?

Dom Bossi reckon Sydney have got their man, so can cross him off our wish list.

Probably me. Prior to Poland, not many had been recruited direct from U20 WCs.

Class of 2019 did great, and a welcome highlight for NZ international football, in an otherwise pretty gloomy year.

However so far you have Bell likely to be signed by a 1st Division club in Norway, McCowatt will go somewhere (though if anything his star dimmed a little in Polska), and a bunch of Ole guys sitting at a Swedish 4th Div club, or a Danish 3rd Div club. The Ole guys were all going to Europe regardless of the U20 WC.

For Waine to stay with the Nix, rather than try Europe, the offers may also have been at a lower league Scandy level. I imagine he has a UK passport (Scottish born), so like say Cacace he has time on his side re Europe.

Stensess is off to Europe as well. The reality is Pjanker and Just would be to if they hadn't had something lined up alreday.

What is amazing is, outside Waine the entire starting 11 for us in the last game will be playing in Europe somewhere next year or have full deals at the NIX.  That's pretty cool IMO.

Denmark & Sweden are in Europe.

Just is locked in, but don't think Pijnaker has signed with Torslanda. Lets hope he gets a gig at a higher level.

But you are right the future is bright for this group. Pity we will barely see many of them in NZ again.
