That's pretty generous when you consider Marinovic's club career.  Personally I think Gleeson has the better track record at club level

By the start of next season, Oliver Sail would have played more than Gleeson in the past couple of years.

Hasnt he been released from his last 2 clubs,as LG said ask Bristol fans about him. Rather give Sail an extended shot to be honest.

We've seen more and more A-League clubs over the last season or so sign two goalkeepers who can legitimately push each other for the #1 spot each week. Regardless of who we sign, Talay will play whoever puts their hand up in training that week.

There is no wrong answer here

By all accounts he had one terrible game and that was him done at Bristol.Harsh to completely write him off

We concede enough goals without having someone who might play the odd terrible  game  in goal.

Ok so lets go with the barely tested 23 year old and an academy player to back him up.

If we don't do our darndest to sign one of Marinovic or Gleeson then we may as well sign no one and just chuck the academy out there to get walloped. Even if Sail is up to the standard we'd be silly not to sign an established pro to help develop him and provide competition for the number 1 spot. Who better than a non-import player with significant experience overseas, at a far better standard than the A-League?

Wasn't even nearly as terrible as Michael Theo's debut at Norwich, for example (and that was league 1!), who then went on to have a very solid A-League career at the Roar winning championships and earning the record for most number of minutes without conceding.

Also a good thought! Are we keeping Gothard? Coaching has to play a part...

What hurt Theo was that he conceded 7 goals to arch rivals (Not Ipswich in this case) Colchester United.

He was pretty excellent when he played this season so I imagine they'll want to keep him. Plus I'm sure the guy is doing a lot better near his family.

He is off contract but Sydney have indicated they will be offering him a new deal, Corica said for at least 1 year.

Read recently in the Polish sports newspaper a low-key comment from Kopa's partner (forgot her last name but it is not Kopczynska) that they were looking forward to seeing family in Warsaw as she missed her Mum - but no idea whether it was a permanent return or a holiday. The snippet was about womens rugby and not about Michal Kopczynski.

Like most, I do not rate Kopa at his original position of DM, but that was also his case at Legia, where he slowly slipped down from a preferred candidate to a third choice at DM, since a new coach took over. So it might be that being converted to a CB is a key for him to reinvent himself back home in Warsaw. I cannot see ourselves paying his full wages; and you'd be mad to.

The guy is not good in the air and does not tackle.

He holds back from attackers and tries to intercept balls with his positioning, something he is quite good at. That approach won't cut it in the back line for him, because he is too slow to deal with quick attackers and can't stop crosses.

He's average and there are better, cheaper options.

To his credit, I thought his passing from CB was very good and was a big reason why we went on the winning run in the middle of the season.

Absolutely agree with him being a factor in that mid-season run. Unfortunately he was also a big factor in our end of season slump, he was particularly awful in the Adelaide and Brisbane games

Not sure I quite agree. The whole team (manager included) were pretty honking for those two games. Everyone made individual errors that cost goals, and ultimately fourth spot.  If he was willing to take a huge paycut, yep, happily have him back unless we had someone that was guaranteed better than him

Mandi is a weird one. Perhaps the most unfit player I've seen play for us, but he has the habit of getting out of the first tackle and playing a good forward pass - something most midfielders in the league can't do.

Far too many bad defensive errors for my liking. Every player makes mistakes but for me, especially as he's an import, the good stuff he did was cancelled out by errors and inability to contribute past about the 75th minute. Your import player simply has to do better. My impression was that Rudan had lost patience with him in the last 4 or 5 games, given that several times he was humiliatingly subbed off early after some notable cockups.

Showed some great skill on the ball and with his passing range but pound for pound I thought Rufer was the consistently better midfielder over the course of the whole season.

I'm prepared to give Mandi the benefit of the doubt. He didn't have a proper pre-season last year, so what might he be like with that under his belt? No question he needs to be fitter and more dominant across 90 mins, but not sure this past season was the best guide of whether he can do that or not.

Totally agree with Wandersing Sheep here, and it is simply unfair to single Kopa out considering we also had Williams playing unfamiliar RB role and that Golec was his partner in the defence. Oh, and also that little bit of adverse impact when the gaffer said pre-game that he would leave in a couple of games.

Like who Ninkovich, Brillante and O'Neil ?  That would be a good start.

I'm sure tho since Talay has been released by SFC he won't be poaching any players from there.

Da Silva is off loan tho.

Still contracted to CCM.

Since joining Sydney on loan, I've found a new appreciation for Anthony Caceres. Not sure how long his deal with Man City has left to run but he wouldn't be a bad midfield option to chase.

Ryan McGowan is being released by Bradford City. With how many AL teams who need CBs, he will probably be in high demand.

[Edit: Alex Jones also in their released list, maybe if we signed him now NZF might get the paperwork done in time ...]

Don't really mind Mandi going. Thought he was a bit too slow, and gave away too many fouls for my liking.

He's one that I wouldn't have minded keeping at the same time.

Bit of an overhaul coming, I can't really see many of 'stars' sticking around e.g Williams, Krishna
