Hope they can sign Hopper up for a couple of years same as Ball.

So if it does turn out to be Hooper, which on paper is a great signing, I'm wondering if all the "We haven't got a decent striker. Dome, Morrison, the Club, Talay have all failed. It's an absolute disgrace. Shambles of a Club" brigade will be popping in to comment...

Not sure that's fair; there were legitimate concerns that we wouldn't get one over the line, and it looks we have lucked out with his Iran move falling through - I don't think we haven't tried hard, though, as it seems like we've been looking to get him since August.

Legitimate concerns or not, we should at least be big enough to say 'bloody well done' if and when a signing like this is confirmed.

I think it's fair to have had concerns, I've expressed them myself, but there's a bit of a reality check needed in some places. I'm sure everyone at the Club has been only too well aware that we needed a striker and haven't been siting on their hands waiting for one to drop out of the sky to us. To start laying into everybody and anybody because a deal hadn't been done, without knowing the ins and outs of the situation, is a bit OTT in my opinion.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I agree with all that. And on the subject of getting lucky, well there is an element here of making your own "luck". If we'd panic signed the Japanese chap (for example) we wouldn't even have had the chance to get lucky. This is a glowing endorsement of the strategy not to just sign someone for the sake of it.

If it is him it's pulled together so quickly that we must have already been in talks with him for awhile. Talay has said you need a plan b and c and while Hooper might have been our plan a we might have been his plan b

If they get him across the line fair enough.  But it is reasonable to wonder what we would be doing if his move to Iran hadn't fallen through

Think we had Takasaki on standby, but knew that this would be done pre-deadline.

Could also wonder if they have been/still were chasing other people?  As I said, I have no problem with raising concerns or wondering about it all. Just the perspective thing sometimes :-)

....and I'm as guilty as anybody else sometimes, so I'm not claiming any moral high ground on this one.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Has anyone tried to ring the Intercontinental today and ask if a guest named Gary Hooper has checked in?

Truly thrilled by this. If he can replicate some of Krishna's form and to some degree what Le Fondre has been doing in Sydney - we can be a top six side.

Would take Hooper, Moukandjo, Mbakogu and Rossi (if fit)

i do not follow british football except scores on the news so may be the only one that has never heard of hooper, so i hope you guys that know of him are right in what you say.

still not convinced that one player is going to change things from a bottom half of the table team to a top of the table team in the blink of an eye like people are saying on here.

Hooper would be an absolute baller in this league, he could definitely put up adam le fondre numbers. I know some wsw fans thought they might be in for him a few months back, but obviously nothing came of it. Don't want to get my hopes up because its pretty unlikely but he would be brilliant

After this comment. Not holding my breath on a high profile striker signing.

More likely to be a lower tier grafter than someone a bit more prolific like a Gary Hooper type.

"He is the first and only player ever to have scored in the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two, FA Cup, League Cup, Football League Trophy, FA Trophy, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Premier League."

...and now the A-League !!!
