Worth a shot. Now I've seen him play; he's still got it - would've offered a bit.

Besart Berisha has revealed that he receieved a bigger offer believed to be from Wellington Phoenix, compared to a modest wage within the salary cap at Western United, but that he just wants to enjoy his football and that it's not just about the money for him.

thats a pretty good dig at us tbh

Sounds like a Rudan comment to me tbh

Berisha is just his bitch

I would rather assume that he did not like getting uprooted from Melbourne.  Mrs Berisha might also have a say on that.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I thought I had heard that WU offered him a 2 year deal and the Nix one was only 1, so he went to WU.

That's probably true. But facts won't get in the way of judan being a cod.

Pretty sure we've signed players before and then said they had other bigger offers etc. It's no big deal.

Seems to depend on who is telling the story.

If Hay gave him a call this week to say you have made AWs for European games in 2 weeks, he might well be in the UK a bit longer.

I'm sure Scun-thorpe would let him run around their fields for a few more weeks, to keep fit. He's had plenty enough of 20 hour flights between Australia/NZ/Fiji - England lately.

I don't know, I think a Hooper Berisha front to would scare most defences.

Doubt we could have afforded both, not getting Berisha let us sign Hooper

Would much rather have Waine playing than Berisha. Not on current quality, but on pretty much every other #metric

Genuine question ... how did Gianni Stenaness, slip past your scouts, he is an amazing player got a huge motor and is one of those DM's who is one or two plays ahead of most on the field...

Stensness is better than Rufer. We wanted to keep him, but he went to Europe (CCM)

As Valeo said before, it was actually Gianni's decision.

"Meanwhile, Gianni Stensness has rejected an upgraded contract and will be moving on from the club after one season to explore opportunities in Europe."

He’s playing for some club in Europe on the Terrigal Riviera.

On the weekend's performances he's better than both our mids! A few misplaced passes here and there but no more than our guys. He was everywhere and actually could've/should've scored after a lung bursting run up the park. Considering his age and inexperience he is doing brilliantly.

Nothing flukey about the Mariners win over Perth either. They are so much better organised than us it's not funny.

Didn't Ufuk tell him if he went to Europe he couldn't come back?

Different stories going around i heard he turned us down to try Europe and by the time he realised nothing was happening there our offer was gone.

It seems that Stensness is just another of those Kiwi players who thinks the Nix is beneath them. CCM is probably a better option because of close driving distance to the Seednee nightlife.

Rufer was better than Stensness last year. I think part of the problem is our formation and tactics, which seem to be confusing for our midfield. Perhaps we'd be better with Piscopo and McCowatt starting, from the defensive side of the equation.

Our defense is at the moment, worse than last year.

Also he came over from Oz cos of Rudan yeh and has links to Central Coast? Before that he wasn't thinking NZ right?

That is correct, and probably the right approach even if we ultimately missed out on the player

Found it interesting that a journo asked Ufuk if we had "any wriggle room" in the transfer market.

Short of attracting someone like Lewis do we have any options at all?

Not really, unless we sign another free agent or recruit a guest player.

In reality he's an Aussie. Grew up Syd Nth beaches, youth player at CCM. Bought to Nix by Rudan, but also with lure of possible U20 selection. Tick. Stensness's decision to try Europe. Didn't work, and ends up back at CCM. Another 'Kiwi' in the A League so all good.

And yes last season Rufer was the better player, so I'm sure offered the better contract by the Nix.

But on form Stensness is unlucky to miss out on AWs to Rufer, Ridenton and Weemac.

James Musa has left USL team Phoenix Rising.

Surely he would be a good pick up for the Nix. Left footed DM player.

Similar player to Payne and TAHW I guess. But Musa could also fit in quite nicely to that left CB role.

Better at CB than Devere?

If we are not even using TAHW then I don't see the point in getting Musa

He is a decent player and a Kiwi. We should try to get all the good Kiwis we can, we need competition for places.

Why should we have all the good kiwis only for them to play for the WeeNixs or be bench. They need game time not bench time.

Yeh, but- mixed thoughts on this.

Could be a long term prospect, could be a bust.

Need heirs to Siggie, Tim Brown, Dura, Manny, Daniel et al. Some club stalwarts who'll hang around and give their all.

It's unlikely to be an MLS starter so Musa is a possible...plus has Nix history
