Nix v Fury MOM

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Apologies if I've left anybody out. Missed 10 minutes of the 2nd half!Jag2010-01-15 21:40:03

Stepped up in the 2nd for sure but some kiddy stuff in the first half. I remember one elephant-like touch that nearly let them in and a couple of times he came charging out and missed it. McKain wasn't much better. Took them a long time to get used to conditions which is understandable but we were lucky to get away with it. In saying that, based on his 2nd half performance the MoM call is fair.

Leo is my MoM. Didn't do much wrong in conditions not suited to his play and was our main man going forward for much of the game. There weren't any standouts though really - shocking performance first half from everyone and then much better in the 2nd.

Reddy so easily, kept us in the game.

I say Leo as well. In the first half he was the only Nix player who looked like he'd turned up to play a game of football, while the rest of the team seem to have been temporarily struck with amnesia.

Hard call really....Reddy kept us in the game with that save on Daal in the first-half. Dadi didn't look the part until the second half. Ifill underlined his class in the second-half...game was tailored for Browny's way of play etc...Everyone had their moments.

Reddy was awesome. I wonder if he's ever experienced weather like tonight in a football match. Anyway I voted Reddy but also think Durante had a superb game.

Reddy and Brown were the best of a generally not flash bunch today. Voted for Brown, on reflection probably should have been Reddy.

If you think Brown was one of the best players, you are either one eyed or know zip?

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

I'd say Reddy, really kept us alive, especially with that save from Daal. Did pretty decently considering he couldn't actually kick the ball...

Reddy had a strong game, leo ran heaps, brown struggled early on but came but strong. Think Reddy kept us in it in the fist half, and then we ran riot in the second.

First half was absolutely atrocious, let's not let the result paper over the cracks there.

I went for Ifill - led up front and worked back in defence, held the ball well, drew players, good goal.  He's always such a big presence out there and guys look to pass to him.

But Reddy had a good one, as did Super Leo.  Allowing for the conditions I thought they all contributed, though Locky had more than his share of misplayed balls.  Muscat still looks good in that holding midfielder position.

Ripper win and guaranteed 4th at the end of the round (but the jets get the extra game over the weekend).

Reddy I think overall...first half was awful even allowing for weather..lacked any drive.  So based on second half Id go Reddy, Dadi, Leo.

McKain for me. I would give him MoM even if he didn't get the goal. He defended very well and covered the rest of the back line when they made errors.

everyone did alright considering the conditions, Brown was pretty solid actually, didn't do anything flashy but you really have to watch him off the ball to see what hes doing, saw one time hearfield went right forward brown tracked all the way back, made the tackle, turned around and got straight back into position in the middle of the park again.

Reddy probably deserves it though for once again being solid, quite sad he won't be with us next season.

shocking conditions tonight that was proven by the sh*te level of play.

For me McKain was a rock at the back for most of the game.

Im not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!

Muscat did more good work this week.
Durante was magic again.
Reddy was solid and Dadi pulled the all important goal out when it mattered.

So its a tough call

Atrocious for both teams I guess though and I suppose you have to be a little lenient because of the conditions. Agreed, though, some of the basic errors that were happening were almost unforgivable. Just lucky the Fury are crap.

i'm sorry but we have to find a replacement for Lochhead. He was the worst player on the park tonight. Those constant, useless long balls down the sideline are unprofessional. His shot in the second half almost flew over the roof. Can't use his right foot to save himself, disgraceful.

and it's not like this game is his only shocker. He is consistently sh*t house.

anyway the MOM for me was Ifill with McKain coming in 2nd.

Didn't Reddy spill a corner in the 2nd half that one of the defenders had to hack off the line? His two saves were tidy but regulation at this level, so MOM seems a bit excessive to me. Took him 45 minutes to properly organise the defence too!

Or watching the game on more than a surface level, work off the ball, breaking down plays, tracking covering, getting into supporting positions, turning over almost no ball (although being one of the main ones guilty of slowing us down in the transition, 1st half especially)

no one was exceptional to me but thats great that we won still. McKain was scary tonight, don't think he deserves MOM. For me, Muscat again simply because he really does save us a lot and breaks down the ball a lot.

I agree with playwithfire. Muscat is a freakin good DM. Reddy is actually totally the money shot. Ifills goal was well taken. Costa was lively when he came on. Bertos played quite well. Lia I thought played crap. Brown average but ok'ish.

Lochhead, well, what can ya say. When you're the last line of defence you don't pass across to your team mate when there's a player from the opposition inbetween within interception distance, god he got lucky there.  Credit where it's due tho he did one awesome tackle. I feel like a dick for knocking this guy all the time, cos he's part of the team, but sugar coating it achieves nothing. He had a mare. There's no competition for his place tho so he's automatic entry every week.

Conditions were radically bad tho, but that excuses only so much. Good to get the win. This team is looking solid overall. love it.

How does Reddy have so many votes  odd

Voted Mckain, was leaning towards Manny but then Mckains goal tipped it his way.

You are correct. But yeah, nothing overly special for MOM for me,maybe if he'd been more quick on counter attacks he'd have got there.

Was a pretty close MoM with no one standing out,as has been shown by the spread of votes (random Reddy votes excluded)

muscat deserves nothing, anyone dumb enough to try turn away from an attacker towards his own goal in the box instead of clearing is retard.

Thought they bounced back well enough from that first half though, made all the more impressive considering the conditions.

I voted for Reddy but McKain can't have been much behind.  Even forgetting his goal he was superb.  Everyone did really well.

Lochhead is a bit of a worry but to his credit he defends more than adequately.  Just going forward is the problem.  In season 1 his connection with Daniel was brilliant but now that Daniel isn't even making the bench it won't be coming about anytime soon.

some of Reddy's later votes are probably down to the fact  that he picked up most of the first 10 or so votes - then a sheep thing seems to kick in with polls like this

edit- not a criticism of reddy - who gives me a lot of confidence as a shot stopper and a communicator

No way - Reddy for me. He gives me more confidence than Paston, and than Moss used to. Very strong in the air and good shot-stopper. Plus, he always looks angry, like he's gonna punch out the defender who f**ks up, unlike Paston who just kooks scared.

that what "communicator', in my post,  was shorthand for

i still think that anyone who gets an early run in these polls tends to storm ahead, in ways they wouldn't if people couldn't see who was in the lead

be interesting to compare our polls on here with the text poll for MoM

Reddy was the stand-out player in first half when frankly we were dire. His save from Dahl was much more than regulation it was absolute class.

there is no-one that didn't have a bad moment in the game - some more than others. Reddy again didn't do much wrong but looking at stats I think our defensive guys deserve a lot of credit for their efforts (they had 12 corners to our 3) shows we got in the way abit and deflected shots off goal - Of the back 3 I think Hearfield, McKain and Durante share equal spoils - Lochead not having a very good game getting caught wrong side of the player more than normal and go forward  / crosses / passes not at his normal standard (not that his crosses / passes are normally high standard anyway ).

So share of mom spoils I think to Durante, Hearfield and McKain - if I was to choose 1 think McKain not because of his goal but often you did see him clean up well and a couple had to be well timed to not give up a penalty.

And that was with a fair bit of competition from Lochead.

I thought McKain played well, again, and I like him. Have to say though that his distribution is diabolical, every time he gets the ball he gives it the big hoof. Either straight up up the park or into Row Z.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
