Let us remind everyone how we wet ourselves when AWs held Italy to 1-1. This was a similar feat. The teams had four (?) players and a coach in common, interestingly.

I said this to my brother before the game, "I hope we can play like we did against Italy."

And we sure did, great defensive effort, some great saves by Warner and we rode our luck with some of the Brisbane chances gone astray.

You're right. We should've gone all-out on attack and lost 5 - 0. It would've been awesome, and people like you wouldn't have complained.

Lets remind ourselves, the only goal we conceded was a result of the ref calling a very, very harsh foul.

Why did you say "your supporters" earlier on?
Are you a supporter of another team?

Don't worry. The rest of us have shot our loads.

You're just left with a puzzled look on your face and wishing you'd brought a large box of tissues.

I am serious. I am starting a movement to put Paston on as a target man up front because he's getting splinters in his arse and the Scouse fellow is pretty damn good.

Durante for me. Warners were reaction saves. I think most keepers may have made them.

We got owned but snuck a result with good deal of hard work and good dose of luck.
I don't mind our approach as they are obviously a far better side. But I do wonder how in a salary cap league it is possible to get to the point that one side is so demonstrably superior to the other, and that one side can so completey dominate territory and possession, and attempts on goal.
Having said that i also thought Brisbane gave the ball away in some dangerous spots, especially in the first half, but we just weren't incisive enough to quickly exploit a back line that was often very high and very flat.
And to think when we did concede it was from a bloody set piece!

The difference Marius is style and content. If we had Ange, would we play arching balls in the area? Would Brisbane play that way if they had Ricki?

I hate to say it but I think coaching has a little to do with it... and resembling a M*A*S*H unit.

I'll also add in discipline in too many dumb fouls and cards. We gift them away.

How did Brisbane demonstrate their superiority? By drawing at home against a side ravaged by injury? Territory, possession, and attempts at goal are just statistics: superiority comes down to the result.

Coaching has a lot to do with it, but I don't agree that we would be as good as the Roar if we had Ange. Up until now half the forum have been bagging Ricki. The truth is that we don't have the quality players that the Roar have.If you want to disagree, watch the game again. They are sharper, quicker, better technically and appear to understand the game better.73% possesion just about sums it up.
If Ricki moved to the Roar tomorrow, they would still be the best team in the league.
If we are serious about winning the league then we need to get the players that are good enough, because if we are being honest then we have no chance with the ones we have got.
Tonights performance was fantastic, not because we were good, but we stuck to the job.

the thing the F***d me off the mot tonight was when we didn't put it in the box when we won a free kick at the end.It showed we didn't want to win.Yes we got an away draw but teams only go for draws in other leagues because there is relegation. There is no relegation so what use is one point to us in the long run?

If we get to the playoffs by one point, or Brisbane go through another season unbeaten then give me a call - I'll explain it to you

Berisha, Broich, Henrique, the Japanese-Canadian guy and the Bahraini guy. Not one import slot wasted. Apart from the Bahraini guy. I hear he's rubbish.

Just got back from the game and I can't believe the negative comments on here. The future of this club is assured, we are moving forward and with the resources at hand I felt very proud of our team tonight. I'll be on that plane back to Wgtn with a smile on my face, looking forward to Auckland next week. This afternoon I lost my voice but not my confidence.

Agree and I made a point as such to the lack of quality we have in another thread a few days back.

For me the coaching is a bit inflexible. There is a trend shift in the modern game to smaller quicker players with a better touch - basically the Roar team and you cannot deny that they are bloody good. As mentioned on this thread by a few people, they do not speand anywhere near as much time on the ball as our guys and its all one touch pass and move.

Our guys do not stack up to that style. If I was recreating this team to play a Roar style, I would probably only keep Dura, Manny, Lochhead and perhaps Sanchez and Ward. Ifill likes to have the ball at his feet and take players on. Good player but would not fit in that style of system similar to what the Roar play.

pretty impressive how Brisi managed to isolate our players the few times we had the ball and then triple team them - no matter where they were on the field. Obviously a big risk if the pass can be slipped.
Ward should still not be allowed in our defensive third - he tries dribbling the ball out and gets done.
