He got forward really well in the Roar game, only I had to wear my crash helmet in row D when he crosses. Nothing wrong with his go-forward I reckon

surely ben sigmund could have a go there, or whoever, mix it up so that all four of our strongest defenders are there. how many floating crosses that go nowhere/out or offer notihng does lochhead have to put in before we can try something different?!!?

man we need someone else at left back.  sorry, but we do.

I completely agree. He was the only poor player at the last game. Siggy would be out of possition, but he is much better than Lochhead. The way everyone else played we would be silly to mess with the starting 11 otherwise.

The same Lochhead who took the ball of Reinaldo's toes when he was one on one with Reddy inside the penalty area ?

How's my driving? - Whine here

Don't be stupid Dave, that's defending.

A left backs primary role is to attack...

news, that was nice, but he still gave away the ball with several sloppy passes in midfield. Siggy would be better, thats all i'm saying.

Give Ifill a rest, they were suggesting he's got a minor hamstring niggle, no need to do any more damage than necessary. We'll need him come playoffs.

Ifill has had hamstring problems all season. No amount of resting will fix it now - he needs a couple months break. I don't think he's ever actually been fully fit which is a scary thought considering how good he's gone.

And Lochy has been playing well since we have been pushing our fullbacks forward more. imo he's actually been one of our best at getting forward and his defending has been solid as well - wher ehe falls down is his passing but as a left fullback that isn't his main job. Putting Siggy there would be a disaster and would unbalance the team a bit because only Troy would be getting forward on the right. As much as I like him as a player he's much more suited to playing in the middle - he can play right back at a stretch but left back? No way.

Can't quite agree with that but overall I'm pretty pleased with the way he's playing. He's not the best wing back in the league but he's a long, long way from the worst.

In the last few games he has been great going forward - don't know what everyone is on about

It warms my heart looking at the league table. The goal difference is my favourite... Thank you Gold Coast united!

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Was there anybody out there who didn't give the ball away at some stage?

I remember a certain E. Dadi giving the ball away in midfield early in the game with a shocking attempt at a pass, which directly led to them going through and forcing Reddy into a very decent save. So, let's drop Eugene and play Siggy up front!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Wrong!  He had a good game, got forward well, beat a lot of players, defended well,  his passing was average but he had a consistant, good performance.

Agree, but I would fix that to "his passing was average at times..." I would also add that he showed some very good examples of passing down the line in some very tight situations. (yes a left backs bread and butter, but in this league especially you often see these go haywire under any pressure.)

edit: I will admit I cringed when he let the ball run under his boot over the sideline for probably the third time this season.aitkenmike2010-01-15 10:21:37

I'm scratching my head as to why so many people dislike Lochhead?

Sure at the start of the season I was of the same opinion, but I think he has improved a lot since then and he's doing now what I wanted to see him doing then anyway- taking players on and going forward.

So its going to be windy in Welly tonight, .
Hope the tactics ( and aplication are better than that pissant Palmy effort.
Love to see dadi, greenacre and ifill together, lets hope they are ready and we should bury these bozo's.
GO NIX!

I agree, Lochy has been one of our consistent players, he turns up each week and plays hard, sure siggy is right there with him but who can you drop from a winning side???? muscat can't even get back to his right back spot cos an attacking midfielder (hearfield) has done very well since slotting in 5 weeks ago....as long as we keep winning I don't care wo Ricki plays in what position.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Completely agree Lochy has been good. He overlaps well and then gets back to defend. Takes players on and puts in good crosses (most of the time). He has been one of our most consistent players.

Me thinks we are going to pump them 4 nil tonight, With Vinne Lia grabbing his first since the one he scored against the Tards.

Haven't lost a home game in Wellington in 15, not too surprising. Draw would be a good bet but no profiting from a Phoenix failure. Only a win will do here tonight, I'm thinking 2 zip.

Lots of news in the DomPost and on the YF home page.

I had forgotten about the freekick incident in Townsville  - nice reminder and has served to get me in the mood vs the furries.

Ifill telling it like it is in the DomPost (he da man! - keeping it real with his peeps, innit)

Im sorry, thats where you lose me. He does all the great work, but cannot cross at all (am hoping this comes back to bite me as he delivers beautiful crosses to Dadi tonight who gets a hattrick, with Lochead getting 3 assists all from crosses )

Allegedly

I agree Tegal, most balls Lochhead delivers these days are pretty average. Which is disappointing because he definitely has the quality there.
