great game tonight, solid first half and strong finish. there'd better be a huge crowd in chch, 3 straight wins is a big enough build up. I reckon brown's abscence leaves a gap to play someone up front, either costa starting or caceras wih greenie on the bench. Lia and Muscat can run the mids with Leo and Ifill on the wings.
Either that or same formation with Diego for Brown.  Ricki's given him some time the last two games.

YES!! a great win nice to be in some dry clothes, deciding whether to attempt the whiskey or the wine warm up option

as someone said failry grim 1st half - great second 45!!

Ifill took his goal superbly

Costa got stuck in just before then with a great sliding tackle and i think that might have lifted Iffy and the lads

summer football at its best

Fantastic game. Glorious walk home in the rain. I am a happy camper.

9 goal difference now.. Loving it.

Good game. Thats how we should be playing.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Great result.
No wonder There are 600,000 Kiwis living in Oz. Mid summer and the coditions looked like they were like the UK in the last week.
I thought that that was one of the worst games we have played this season. Apart from Ready most players were crap.Fury will wonder how thet lost.
The worst were Lockhead and Brown who continues to contribute nothing except a yellow card. We will probably do a lot better next week without him.

Rubbish. Brown was one of the few decent performers in the 1st half and stood out like a beacon in the midfield in the 2nd.

Those conditions were horrible just got back and it was the worse conditions for a nix game which I have been to I think.

Just got home from the game (and dried off) I tell you what, it was f*cking miserable, the 7700 odd crowd was a fantastic turn out for such a dreadful night. If you don't make 10k in CHCH (provided the weather is good) it will be a disappointment because I could have seen at least that plus more tonite in wellington if it wasn't the middle of Winter.

Not a great game to watch, but was a lot of noise and exciting to be at the RoF. And well, we won 3 to nothing. Good times. nothing more to say, going to have another beer.

Pre-season cup final vs. Melbourne.. that was shocking, probably be my worst.

Even the best teams have to know how to win ugly and that was ugly - the goals aside which were all finished very well - the build up for the 3rd was the move of the game.

There were a handful of players who had their worst games of the season and we got away with it.

Three points in the bank and on to Perth.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Ripper result after a crap first half.  Great seeing heaps of goals from a team that seemed incapable of finishing and only good for one goal a game earlier in the season.  Go the Nix.  Keep 4th spot for that home finals game.

lookin good.

tho' a tough three travelling games coming up

thought i should add it must have been tough as out there in the conditions.  ball swirling, slippery, variably wet surface

some-one said have a thought for the ball boys and girls - for sure.  and for the players.  it'd be harsh to be too critical of anyone tonight

Yeah, with good weather this would've been our biggest crowd of the season. It's disappointing because our next 'home' game is in Chch where 5-7k will turn up at best

Bollocks.
The Christchurch game will get the biggest home crowd of the season - wait and see.

Hopefully you're right. If we continue our form and get another win against Perth I could see it happening I guess

I have to admit to thinking  " Oh No...here we go again"  thoughts after the Dadi goal.
Ifill's second goal seemed an eternity coming. Shame on me for having little faith.
This is not the Phoenix of old.
Very happy to see McKain get the third and finally get the monkey off his back too.

Nice to get home, and dry off..now after the Adelaide-CCM game finishes I'll watch the replay.

Well done the Nix!!

Good win lads.  Sometimes ugly, sometmes heartstopping but they took the chances that came their way.  Superb goal from Ifill.

Any news on Dadi?

Sat in Aisle 29/28 at the back.  F%ck what a pack of silent b#ggers they are over there.  FZ awesome from a distance tonight.

Good news is that the workmates are keen for 12 Feb game and keen to get tickets closer to FZ.

Yep, I have to say with the YF retreating up the stand, the amount of noise generated seemed to be a lot more than normal. Perhaps the roof keeps it down low. Was impressive from them tonight and the reception they gave Dadi as he went towards the tunnel is one of my proudest moments of them. They really made the effort. Lonegunmen2010-01-15 23:25:54

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

The singing in the rain made the walk down the concourse bearable.

Good on you Phoenix.  At halftime it looked like either team could sneak it with a single goal.

Out of adversity...

Liked last week's game for the footy on show.  But I'll gladly take tonight's effort by the team in sh!te conditions.

Costa was brilliant when he came on.

at half-time, an own goal or completely unfathomable penalty decision seemed the more likely causes of an actual goal

Brown doesn't miss next week because yellow card limit for suspension is reset to 8 after 21 games.

Dadi 15 stitches just under his eyebrow, but no concussion.

When brown got booked I was gutted, but about 10 mins later realised that the limit was upped.

Bad news for Dadi - looked like a fair bit of blood as he walked off.  A week off to heal?  (but Greenie comes back in hopefully)

I didn't realize that.  So he can get another four before he get's a suspension?
And if Lia and friends get a yellow they won't be suspended?

If that's correct that's great news.

Proud of the 7 700 of you that showed up to the game.  Wishing I was there with you.  What a result.  Now the only team we're yet to beat is Adelaide and I'm looking forward to it.  You'd think Dadi would be fine for next week - anybody heard anything about it?

I seem to recall Fox Sports showed that game live in Australia, about 9000 there from memory.
