Reports out of Melbourne said Marco was taken to hospital bleeding from the mouth. They feared he may have a broken jaw but will not know until they do some scans. He does have a heavy concussion so I guess that will be the end of his chances of playing in the Olympic playoffs.
I have no problem with heavy challenges but you really get concerned when people get hit in the head.
Get well soon Marco!!!

I was going to comment on the match....post how the Lia, Brown combo does not work(again), how we lack creativity, how its only Ifill who can make any attacking threat etc etc etc.

But you know what?  I can't be Ferkin bothered!!!!!!

Kruse is fair game.  Was praying Manny would do Kewell instead.

Get well soon Marco.

Very disappointed with some of the comments about Marco, he's in serious doubt for the Olympic qualifiers.

Also, would absolutely love for the Nix to have a forward of Archie's calibre, but can't see it happening.

I would love us to take fatty from the tards, he and Ifill creating havoc with a quality poacher in the middle would be choice

Hello neighbours. I'm from Victoria and support only the one team in Melbourne......Victory.

Great to see the fantastic banter between Victory and Wellington fans last night. You Phoenix mob was at it very early and it took while for the victory lads to fire up, but once they did it was on. The chants, songs were very humourous and almost as entertaining as the game itself. Well done to both sets of supporters!!

I just want to wish you guys the best for the coming finals as many have respect for your club and on top of that, f**k Heart and Sydney.

Good luck and see you next season :)

appreciated and thanks

dont blame ricki, last nights performance was appalling. i am so pissed off after watching that, we are a much better team. we gave them to much space, never put pressure on them at all.

we were slower than my grandma in transition, and didnt look like scoring at all.

it was utter crap, and we as fans deserve better.

but the thing that made me the most angry is we gave up
how could they give up, they are paid proffesionals in a race for home play offs where goal difference is key.

Responsibility for any lack of effort and poor individual performance lies squarely with the players concerned.

Responsibility for playing Greeny, Smith, Sanchez and Brown out of position and leaving a gapping whole in the middle of the park lies with Herbert.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

All I know is that Sanchez and Smith do not deserve places next season. its a sad day when Lia is our best midfielder.

Alex has been sound for most of his appearances. I think you need to take a day or so to think this through...

Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

OK, it seems that a few of my comments re: Marco Rojas have touched a nerve or two.

I want to take this opportunity to clear a few things up. I know how important Marco Rojas is to NZ football and as I have many friends acquaintances on this forum I do honestly feel for the hard suffering football supporters of this country.

As, however, I have pointed out I hail from the West Island and have absolutely no allegiance to any football player who represents this country with exception of the lads who don the Stripey from week to week!

So, as it stands, to me Marco Rojas is a Melbourne Victory player and as I hate them I was a little bit happy to see him get clobbered accidentally by Manny. I am not extremely happy that he got injured and wish him all the best for his recovery, nor would I wish his injury on any other player (with exception of Archie Cock Magnet Thompson!).

My reaction was not aimed at Marco but moreso directed at the shirt he wears.

Hope this clears everything up!

One thing we do know now is that Sanchez is not a winger.
He is, as we saw earlier in the season an excellent attacking mid. We all have hoped that one day we would see a good attacking mid at the Nix...Sanchez could be that player. Hoever it is a waste of time recruiting that sort of player if you don't play that style of football.

IMO Muscat beside Smith as DM's with Sanchez in front of them would be a potentially great  midfield. But it won't happen.

Its really up to the gaffer. If he wants to play a certain way then go and select players who will implement that style. Don't recruit attacking mids and then play them on the wing. recruit proper wingers.

Sanchez and Smith should go. Not because they are bad players. Sanchez because he does not fit into our system. Smith because he will always be behind Brown and Lia and you don't want to waste an import slot on a bench/utility player.

paullt your quoting doesn't appear to be working for you. ^

West Island = Australia

Is there a chance Manny could be suspended for the tackle on Marco?

The fact that the FFA are reviewing it would suggest that a suspension is indeed on the cards.

Clear as mud. Some Most times you are really sharp and amusing, others full of crap. Last night I thought your comments were crap.

Wouldnt wish an injury on any Kiwi myself, no matter who he plays for.

One game to go to get ourselves the best chance of getting results in the finals. COYN nix at home

By the way, I don't think it was as 'accidental' as some have implied. Would not be surprised at all if he gets suspended.el grapadura2012-03-17 19:28:51

Ditto on that.
Having watched the replay many times there is more than a hint of a leading elbow/forearm. If there is a post match disciplinery review then Muscat could well be in trouble. I read the that a recent case similar to this Barbiero(i think) got 6 weeks.
I know Musact is one of ours...but if he is found guilty then he will have to do the time. Attacking the head should never be supported.
Often the Nix sail fairly close to the wind with their aggressiveness in the tackle. If used properly it can be an effective tactic. If you step over the line then you always are in line for a red and/or a siteing and suspension.

Ineresting time for Predictions. I never put one down for this game, as I thought we would get done over (actually I expected worse than we got). We have to remember though that these were were three excellent goals, and if our defence (usually brilliant) had held together a bit better we MIGHT have come away 0-0.

Lia really, really has to go, my old Nan could play better in her young days. It was good to see Brown step up his involvement as the match progressed- I hope this is a good sign for the Mariners.

Going back to the Predicition thing- I actually prediceted every one of Ricki's subs before they happened (I have witnesses!). Does this mean (God forbid) that I am too closely attuned to His Royal Herbertness? I'm also not admitting that I agreed with these subs. either......

On first viewing I thought it an accident. On re-viewing, not at all sure. Manny has 'previous', so doesn't look good. Has let us down, if the night was not disappointing enough.

Poor.

Manny's elbow was disgraceful and I think Ricki should ensure that he makes an example of Manny (Which I'm sure he will with the olympics at stake). Regardless of what Marco has done he is a clean player, shows up for the all whites and is still just a kid. I'm Disappointed and it makes it hard to support a team with players who act like thugs.
