So you went from "he is only there because we have no other left sided defenders" to "ricki hasn't given our other left sided defenders a chance"

Make your mind up.

Lochead is keeping them out of the spot,he is doing better than those two would. Though I admit I don't know much about lyndsay, lochead doesn't really deserve to be dropped.

I've been one of the first to jump on his bad performances in the past, but he's an important part of the team at the moment.Tegal2012-01-10 13:15:07

That is a highlight for me. One of the best internet forum pieces of flip-flopping I have ever seen. Well summed up Tegal.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

It's like the Frankie Mac game without having to dig anything up as it's all conveniently on the same page.

And yet he has the audacity to constantly have a pop at other people's football knowledge on here. The hypocrisy is remarkable.

Three for me, and two for them.

Had a look myself, I think you are wrong, the ball was well above Pav and he was marking McGarry. Everyone seemed to go to sleep, and didnt consider a ball to the back post (why not??),  Mitchell ghosted in, Smith was unaware of him, and that was that. Wartner had the most chance to stop it, reacted late

Thats why you should always have a defender on the back post, to cover things like that.

From a free kick 18 yeards out... Yeah right, simply play everyone on side and allow them to stand on top of the goalkeeper!

Yes and we can see how not having someone on the back post worked.

Man on the post on a free kick? Very, very bad idea.

Not correct, look where the free kick was taken, look where they scored a man on the back post  could have made the difference.

FFS that is like saying having a "longstop" behind a wicketkeeper in cricket "incase" he misses it. Not a team in the world above under 10s would have had someone on a post when a freekick is taken from the position it was.

Well we had no one covering the runner from the far post and look at the result.

Why not just have eleven players lined up across the goal line?

I look at it as being almost like a corner (the fk was not far off the same position). I think the reason why you put defenders on the post at a corner its because there is no offside directly. In this case there is and while hindsight is a wonderful thing to say 'there should be a man on the post' I think it would have just put 5 attackers on Warner in the 6y box and made it a lottery. You would not have expected a lottery with the back line 6y up and Warner with some room to move freely.

The reality is that a few Phoenix guys switched off. Had they been on the post, they could have well switched off there too.

Bollocks sums up what I thought of the reply. To say that Locky does not deserve to be dropped is a joke. He is the worst passer of the ball in the team, he can't defend and in my opinion would not get in any other A league side.
Sure he has played well at times, but how many times in the last 10 games?

So you advocate starting Nick the Greek or Lindsay in his place since they are the other LB's in the squad?

No, but Manny has played there before, and we have others that can play right back.
You can't keep picking a player just because he is left sided if he is not doing his job.Quite simple.

Incorrect -  Nick the Greek and Lindsay are LB's
And how many games have they played at left back?
How many chances have they been given by Ricki do you mean?
Exactly.

Manny is a better left back. I cannot judge the other two as I have never seen them play.Leo has played at right back before, and he could do the job.

So you want to ditch the best LB for our best RB and put an aging out of form right winger at RB where the best RB used to be?

Best you check the filter on your water cooler dude. The chemicals are getting through.

Vader. Tegal. You guys are in as much denial as ricki if you think lochs is the only option at LB.

Griffiths deserves another crack. He was less aimless in his distribution and almost scored if I recall. Lochy missed a sitter last week with that wayward lefty of his.

I can accept criticism of Lochheads passing (as it is at times woeful), but he gets up and down the wing very well, combines very well with Daniel at left wing, and I find it almost nonsensical to criticise his defending. To me, he is one of the better defending left backs in the league. Very few goals from down our left flank that I can recall, and the stretch last season without him was calamitous defensively.

Pros shouldn't miss sitters. Some do from time to time of course. No surprise Lochy did.

I'm not saying Lochy is worst LB in the league, but in the spirit of trying to constantly improve the nix, he should be able to monopolise LB so easily.

I have no problem with this last statement (missing the word 'not' I suspect).

HOWEVER suggesting change for the sake of is garbage. The player replacing him must be better. Nick the Greek and Lindsay are not and if they were in training, they would have replaced Lochhead. That's what f**ks me off with all these stupid formation posts people put up. Dumb posts with no foundation in football mechanics and a lot of 'lets play Griffith or Nick the Greek or Bertos at RB so we can play Manny elsewhere' or some other random sh*t like 'lets replace Locchead' or something they did in Football Manager on PS3 (Mossy seems good for this). No one in this forum likes consistency of selection but two years ago we were screaming out for it at one point.

I will add that the one game I have watched Griffiths play lately he played in the centre of midfield and was excellent vs the Phoenix reserves/Team Wellington.
