Biss is ineligible to play due to international transfer rules and the A-League squad registration window being shut.

He's also nowhere near A-League standard.
I think he proved in his one game that he was.

We are judging players based on 1 game now?

Three for me, and two for them.

Aren't you? If not, you're basing your opinion on him playing for TW and Nix reserves. What do you think is the best measure?

I'd say several games for TW and nix reserves is a better measure than 1 A league game.

Hey i was kidding. Thought he did really well against Heart in Round 2. Will hopefully turn things around for himself with the Under 20s and be back!

Just seen some comments about Tony L. Sure he had a better game(but thats not hard) but correct me if I'm wrong (as I have not seen any replays etc) but the Jets first goal came down our left flank and the only person who made a challenge was Corey G. This was well  off the edge of the box and when the ball was delivered across the goal, Lochhead was 15 metres from the bloke that crossed it and marking nobody.

Yeah I made that comment during the game as well. Not the first time this season either.

The positive of that: really impressed with gameiros work rate and enthusiasm! Wish we could sign him on longer, just don't see it happening sadly.

Besides, he did nothing of note in the Heart game, and completely disappeared in the second half when they were waltzing down the middle at will. Yet now all of a sudden he had a great game that day (according to 2 people on this forum).
And he's absolutely honking at the ASB Prem level.

Yes , I think this Cory G would be  excellent for us but I doubt he will stay.

A select few people booed,  no idea what they were booing at though. They were quickly drowned out by applause and a 'cmon Phoenix' from the rest of the zone

It doesn't take too long to come up with the answer - the absolutely crap performance that saw us down 2-0 at home to a very average team.  That answer your question?

One or two people out of 4000 boo translates to the entire yellow fever (who were applauding) booing. Typical.

I never asked a question...
You are right, they nay have been booing the teams performance. They may have also been booing at the refereeing (which is what boo's at halftime/fulltime are usually aimed at right around the league) or they may have been booing at Ernie being shown on the big screen yet again. Just because there is one plausible option doesn't mean it is the only one.

This. As soon as the few people started booing, everyone else started cheering and singing 'Come on Phoenix' to try and give the boys a bit of a lift before they headed into the sheds.

That is just beyond believeable.

Says to me we put a fair bit of pressure on the opposition goal line, just not really on the opposition goal. Except for Brockie when it doesn't really matter.

Says to me we can't find our own players in the box, instead choosing to hammer the ball off opposing defenders (usually the one closest to them).  Also says that we are absolutely shocking at corners in terms of both delivery and attacking the ball.

I've said for a few weeks now we'd be as well to just give the opposing team a goal kick whenever we get a corner as the end result is the same - no goal and other team with the ball back eventually.

What I got out of it is that you're still blaming Ricki for shit performances after he's gone. You really need to find a new scapegoat. Start blaming Lochhead, he's the next cab off the rank.

Wrong, not looking for a scapegoat, please try again.

Tell me what Greenache could have done in 2 days to improve the team's performance significantly?

I reckon he's used the same line up and gameplan that RH would have used simply because there was no time to install anything else. Probably [I hope] we will see something more in his style this weekend. If not, then he just isn't head coach material in my book.

Changes I'd hope to see would be Stein coming in and starting in place of someone and probably the same with Boxhall. Swap Lia with Sanchez if the injured guy [name!!!!] isn't back.

For the sake of playing devils advocate, I could argue that the team played like shit with Ricki coaching, and played like shit without Ricki coaching. Thus, was Ricki the problem? I'm not advocating that theory but you can spin many things many ways.

The fact of the matter is, regardless who is coaching, this team is poor, lacking in confidence (with the exception of Moss who looks lively) and nothing will fix this except an offseason and time apart. As it stands, giving Greenie 3 days is a bit of a piss poor call. He is a young man in his 1st year of coaching and you want him to pull a rabbit out his ass in 3 days with a team thats bottom of the table and playing like shit? Alex Ferguson could not turn this sows ear into a silk purse in 3 days.

Just some Random impertinent questions.

1) Is Moss any better than Paston. - I think he looks a bit livelier

2)What has happened to the pace Leo used to have - Age.

3)Has Leo completely lost the ability to cross a ball - When was the last time he was consistently doing it..

4)Why does Dura even bother coming forward for a corner, putting aside our shit delivery I can only think of about three times in four years he has actually got his melon anywhere near a corner - CBs traditionally do a lot with the head because of GKs and punts so its natural to assume they excel at set pieces.

5)Did Siggy win a header against Heskey last night - Has Siggy performed this year?

6)Does Lochhead have another A League season in him? His form seems to be returning and again was one of our better players last night (certainly defensively) - I think so but he wont be on the same coin.

7)Have opposition teams worked out Leo as a fullback. His early season progress seems to have stalled - thats a good question. Perhaps lack of experience is showing?

8)How many times did Lia give the ball away. I love the guys effort, but sorry Vinny just gave the ball away too many times - This question should be asked every game.

9)What as happened to the real Manny Muscat. The bloke wearing the number 2 shirt is a pale shadow of his former self - I am expecting him to ask for a release at the end of the year to return to Melbourne.

10) Is Louis Fenton up to A league standard at the moment. He has huge potential but drifts in and out of games and gets knocked off the ball to easily - He is. He needs coaching. I was critical of him earlier but there is signs that he is getting his head up and seeing the field in front of him which is what was killing him. Work in progress.

11) Is Tyler Boyd really upto A league standard? Will he ever be - Less likely. You may as well cut his left foot off because he will NEVER kick the ball with it. Makes him a one trick pony because he will always go the same way and thus, easy to shut down. Could not score in front of an open goal (how many misses?)

12)Is this the last year we will see Ifill playing? He is so frustrated with his own form at the moment, I would not be surprised if he pulled the pin - I think Ifill owes it to himself to see out his contract and try to finish strong. He has admitted he has been poor this year and the injury has not helped. He needs to drop 6-8kg. Hopefully Ed can do that. He is next years X factor I think.

13)Is Corey Gameiro actually Pav in disguise? Would we spend a chunk of cash to keep him at the club? He has something about him but is it enough? With the resources we have in the front of the pitch (and used incorrectly - Stein) probably not a high demand in Welly. Thats said, if we have a need, I think its worth it. Someone get him a smaller shirt though.

14)How do we get more out of Brockie? Some terrific goals and our season would be really bad without them but we need some creativity and assists out of him as well - how long is a piece of string?

15) Does Danny Sanchez have his ticket out of Wellington already booked? Should not have been resigned in the first place. Well overrated. The new coach needs to have 1 import slot free. Smith and Sanchez are toast.

16)Will Stein and King Carlos be a good combo - YES. Carlos is the kind of player that Stein needs running off of him and Stein is the exact kind of player to make those runs for Carlos' through balls. This is exciting.

17) Did anyone seriously expect a significant change in how we have been playing - not but reading the posts, some did.

yeah that's pretty low.

I'd feel worse if I played badly and still got cheered. I mean, worse in a good way, if that makes sense. It would make me want to do better. Whereas being booed, I might just be like, ah fuck it.

to cap off a brilliant night, I went out with Feverish and 2nd Best after the game.  Made it home just past stupid o'clock, and went to sleep on the couch (my designated sleeping area if I have been anywhere near Feverish).  About an hour later I woke up to use the bathroom, but in the dark, spending my first night in my flat in over 5 years, and still being a little squibbly, I walked out the front door.  It locks behind you, so I had to sleep the rest of the night on a welcome mat wearing only my underpants and a retro Ricki.  It gets pretty cold here at night, doesn't it?

I don't think I can compare Phoenix to a child. So, no, I would not boo my own child. For one thing I wouldn't have paid good money to get in and watch said child.

Maybe it's a UK thing, but it's far from the first time I (and many, many others) have booed a poorly performing team off the park.
