We win 3-1. First half goal to Ifil to be leveled by Jessic before half time, We come out swinging after the break with an early goal for Brown and another around 60 for Rojas before being subbed off.
Heard it here first, take it to the TAB.

Righto, because I'm an old-school Star Wars fan I've placed a massive $1 bet via my bet365 account on the Nix to win 3-1.

The odds are 1-18, but hey, sometimes ya just gotta live life on the edge!

It's been said many times, but tomorrow is a 'must win'. Newcastle come after an arduous playing schedule and without two of their most consistent players (Wehrmann and Ljubo), so hopefully they aren't at 100%.

Roger that.Wehrmann has been the biz for them lately(I do think hes a bit of a w**ker) so hopefully they are out of sync and we can take them for all they got.

The Jets have the best defense in the A-League....only conceded 12 goals. We have the worst....conceded 34. If the boys at the back can keep it tight and super Marco and Ifill can break them down and bang in a couple we can win this.

So who do people want to play upfront with Ifill in our 442?
I would pick Dmac. He has the height and strength to do some damage off Rojas and leos crosses. Ifill will go roving, like he does, so we need a big guy who will stay central and contest all match. Greenacre looks out of form to me. He struggles to have any impact on big central defenders. He missed a sitter last week.....he can come off the bench later if need be.

Yeah i don't mind DMac starting tbh. May actually end up more like:

          Brown     Lia
Rojas           Ifill           Bertos
              MacAllister

I've got a damn good feeling that tonite Ifills gonna be lethal tonite. Think he's gonna have freedom and he will test their new defense.
Possibly hattrick on the cards tonight I feel.

I'd have written off top six already this season and settled for the fact we're not good enough to be even there ....

except
they do have these veeeery good spells in games

so pull it together lads, play a blinder and get this run to the finals on a roll

Go NIX!

Ward and Dura out, matches up with Jets missing Lubo and the other fella watshisname
so even contest

getting forced into a 442 to start may actually help us
Hopefully Leo sees this as a big game and comes with his wheels and attitude on
Marco for miracles, Ifill and Greeny or Ifill and Mac up front.
The hard men in the middle, Timbo wheels forward for a nudge in goal, Vinny does the Manny role to perfection without giving away any serious free kicks n cards

No worries

Not sure if Ifill is the best support for greeny up top as he often doesn't really link with him. But this is the way we will win. And having DMac come on and pushing Ifill wide will work well too.

Come on boys.

I've got a good feeling bout this one.
Could be another 6-0. Or maybe 7/

Ifill will tear their defense a new ass hole. Booyah
I agree with what you are saying with Ifill/Greeny but I reckon Ifill has missed a few chances this year to play an assist ball to his team mates for an easy goal.  Hopefully tonight he scores one or two himself, but is a bit tuned to setting up those around him as well.  We'll need a bit of that from him without Ward playing.  Otherwise I think they may shut him down and it'll be a tough night. Play as a team lads.
6-0 Or maybe 7 I like lol ...

Yes, I think Ifill was guilty of fannying about on several occasions against Adelaide when a cross or through ball was what was needed. He seemed to be a bit blinkered to what his teammates were up to. I hope we don't see that tonight.

Probably prefer DMac over Greenacre to start. I wish Greenie was a bit more adaptable. Has anybody ever suggested he play on the wing?

Thought Greenie has actually been a good impact sub on a number of ocassions. Comes on controls possession and brings players into the game at the end.

Haven't seen anything from D-mac since pre-season. Be bludy good if he came right. However we've gambled on him and Pavlovic and got NO important goals from them as of yet IIRC.

Greenie's strength hasn't been scoring important goals during the season, but he did pop up with one in finals series, and you never doubt that he could go on a scoring run, just that it is rare....

yip ive fluttered about with the thought of Greeny out wide. Has a good work rate, but realistically, hes the best with another "propper" striker next to him in the middle.

Does anyone else feel a bit odd that Leo just wants to play through the pain? He should just take his 7 weeks off like Wardy is and come back to us fresh rather than having him not really able to push himself at all.

My theory on Greenacre is he's best when the conditions are absolutely miserable! nothing to do with positions or the number of strikers or anything.

Maybe not last week against Gold Coast though.

He started well with DMac next to him. Both were just full of confidence playing together

Since I'm such a useless p**ck I probably should have taken the flag back to the BB by now, so I guess I'll just drop it off before the game to HN or the counter

[/QUOTE] Perhaps Ward is taking a long-term (i.e. post Phoenix) view of his football, whereas Leo is wanting to contribute whatever he can to the team despite his injury. If that's correct, at least it shows a good level of commitment from Leo.

Well, the sun is shining here in Wellington so better leave Greenacre on the bench.

not cold enough, muddy enough or enough puddles on the pitch! perhaps the wind wasn't strong enough too...!

I'm not sayin he isn't a good player in all conditions- but maybe his genius switch is thermostat controlled? Had a couple of really good games early on in the season and I thought he was going to have a bumper season and threaten for Golden Boot...

I think I'd rather see DMac and Greenie together upfront and a Ifil on the wing, DMac and Greenie haven't had much time together upfront and I think that could and should be winning combination, It's looked good in recent weeks when we have played this going into the last 10.
Imagine those two in the middle with Rojas and Ifil on the wings.
The Dream a reality tonight...?

4 upfront? I don't think our midfield is dominant enough for that

Yeah Id rather have this than having leo start if hes not up to it tbh.

But Ifill is probably best up front with no defensive duties I think. Maybe in a few weeks we could have:

               Vuko
Siggy North Dura Lochy
          Muscat Brown
Ifill                            Marco
        Greeny DMac

?

Guarantee you didn't have that feeling before the Gold Coast game last year. In fact, I think we all said we'd take a draw from that game.

I'm sticking to a win as I don't think N'castle are good enough to beat us at home, and the fact they have four of their players out.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Should get a good rollup tonight. Perfect footy + beer wx. Hope DMac starts because of the height option in the box. Chance of a good win, I think. Basis for that is simply because they have to !
