Comments based on not seeing the game -

1) city Waitakere game - way better

2) Ian Hogg - your best player.

3) shame for city but that's football - fans were amazing

5) I love city!

So you've said one game was better than the other, despite not seeing one of them. FITH syndrome?

Stein is twice the player Brockie is.

Brockie has scored almost four times the goals Stein has.

True, but Stein has mostly been a wide player most of his career, but has been playing up the middle for us.
So you think Brockie is 'class'  I don''t.
Have a look at the A league teams he has played for. None have been 'great sides'
New Zealand Knights, North Qld Fury and Newcastle Jets and now us.
Seems to go where he knows he might get a game.

Brockie is rubbish. Soon as Stein went off we lost complete shape.

He was a loooong way from our best player, but it was a solid debut.
Next time you should watch - especially if you're in Auckland when a game is on

Yes Hogg was good. Cernak same. Couldn't give a stuff about how ugly it was. Will take the win. Main agony was fred and harry. Just inane.

He might be a good goal scorer but that does not mean he is a good footballer. He only seems to play for teams that are not in the top 4.He scored a great goal today but over 90 mins how would you rate him?
For me, about 4/5 at best.

Maybe, but I've also seen him get back and defend pretty well. Not saying one over the other but you'll have a hard time justifying more than 4/5 for Steiny Heinekens given his results so far, he missed some sitters in Sydney which put us under pressure when we could have been keeping in touch with them. Different players that's all. It's like comparing Greenacre and Ifill when they were together

Positives for Jr and me:

1 WE WON

2.Cernak

3,Hogg ( looks OK , we think he deserves another run)

4.WE WON

5. Dura looked much much better tonight , we thought.

Negatives - at the risk of breaching a forum rule or 3 , de Jong must be the biggest f...ing numpty commentating at the mo'. Simply awful. We turned him off and did our own commentary. Given that one of us was a bit pissed , was bloody funny really.

So 11.5 k away from home, which to my mind confirms the fickleness of the Auckland crowd. I acknowledge the benefits of taking it on the road but you have to say Wellington has the heart, the passion and the appetite for the A League. Bring on the next round, we're back in the mix....ugly foot ball does it for me!

If ever there was evidence that we need to take more games on the road, here it is.

A great result and an Auckland crowd that once again puts Wellington to shame.

Back home now.

SO MANY wgtn season holders up for this game.  I bumped into more people I know in Wgtn up here than I do at the RoF.

Lots of fans up last night a few at the zoo this morning.  Fecking heaps on the flight back tonight and at the airport going to other places.

Shoulda come to the Bill McKinlay game. At Eden Park, I was the one at 80 minutes with my shirt off and NIX written on my chest in felt tip.

Also: after that performance I never want to hear any of you clowns badmouthing Pasty again. He put his body on the line to stop Perth's long-ball game, and made a couple of hot saves. I particularly liked the end, when Vuko had come up for the corners, and Pasty was deliberately punching it out in the hope of getting it to a striker to sneak a goal. And OH Cernak came close. I agree with the "Sign Him Up" chorus.

A win is a win! Thought it was ugly as shit, but I'll take an ugly 3 points over getting hammered every week. My thoughts, for what they're worth:

Dura looked back to his old self again today. Thought he was superb

Hogg looked solid and did enough to keep his place

Stein led the line well in the 1st half, didn't see the ball in the 2nd. As for the Brockie v Stein thing. I'm starting to think that Brockie is one of those 'luxury' players. He'll score goals, but his contribution in terms of workrate etc is piss poor. That said, he's there to score goals, so he has to stay there.

Cernak did more in the first half than Sanchez has done all season

Paul Ifill is trying too hard to score. Once he gets one, I think he'll relax and the goals will come again. Some glimpses of the old Ifill today

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I really liked the Paston chant to that 1D song.

Also enjoyed shutting down the attempted Mexican waves.

He won't be paying for them off the game yesterday. They lost money on playing it in Auckland this time. There's some happy cats around

So why take games on the road? Out of 11k at the Auckland game, maybe 4k of those were Welly people= 7k were Aucklandites and from other places within reach, therefore the financial adavantage (which is actually all the owners are interested in now, it seems from some recent statements) has disappeared.

If all of the marketing effort went into the Wellington region and it was recognised at long last that Wellington is the Capital of New Zealand Football  and this will NEVER change, is in the middle of the country with great communications (i.e. let them come to us), the core group will increase organically. Then Welnix make money, Fever increases etc.

Win-Win.

Damn I'm clever..................and Gareth, keep your hands off my pussy, bitch.....
