Almost had an apoplexy in the last few minutes when Fenton farted around, lost possession and gave up a free kick on the edge of the box. Ugly win but a massive relief and a good team effort.

played well but lets hope it continues. had some good players in their first game before falling over and turning to shit

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

prefur to be called a realist.  but thought Hogg and bertos played well. aswell as Cernak and Ifill. could have been more goals but a win is a win, and only 1 point from the top 6 now.

I picked 20 k last year as it was the first Phoenix game at the Garden of Eden and the Phoenix were sexy. I picked 11k this year based upon it being the second game but above all because of Gareth's awful PR exercise recently (many Aucklanders have cats and don't find him sexy)

Boring, dire, poor skills for most of the game, hoofball..... hope we win the rest of our games like this.

It was the sort of win we needed, grafted it out.

Thought Hogg played well

Hope you are right, but looking at the rest of our fixtures I doubt it very much. Agree that Hogg was OK.

Just got back from the game.. solid. Solid football, solid crowd, solid result.

Not pretty, but what can you expect from two sides desperate to avoid the bottom spot?

I wouldn't read too much into only beating the bottom team by one, because they were up for it and, er, desperate.

Cernak had a good game. Hogg solid. Pasty, well, just OK really, I think it's time for Moss. Iffy good.

Pretty good crowd and a good atmosphere.

What did Paston do wrong that you would replace him with Moss.
I think he only had one shot to save all game-- so why would you drop him/

He was OK, but several times he did dodgy moments where he drops the ball and then picks it up again. It's not so much the performance today but the performance over the last few weeks, e.g. being outjumped by Heskey last week.

It's not a particularly strongly held opinion.

Fred de jong was awful on comms. Just awful.

Hogg did enough. Glad Boxall will get another run. Like to see stein benched perm.

He has made mistakes this season, who has not, but over the season he has saved us a lot more times than he has cost us.
If it were not for him we would probably be 6 points less than we have now.

awful is been nice to him.

In two minds with Waffles, think he does some good hold up play, don't think he fits into the style of play RH chooses to use.

Brockie has scored almost four times the goals Stein has.

Cernak looked really good, so did Hogg.

FZ was pretty decent i thought. Only early in the second half the atmosphere was a bit dead apart from that i enjoyed it.

Slighty disappointed i didn't get to meet the (in)famous Doloras.

Three for me, and two for them.

so last weeks popular theme was why wasn't Waffles brought on instead of Brockie - and this week's theme is seems is that Brockie is twice the player (or some kind of fraction better at least) than Waffles.

I thought both were good today - Brockie worked harder and had a bit of a free licence and i thought in the first half Waffles worked really hard and linked play particularly well, he tailed off in the second half and i thought it was the right call to sub him for fresh legs.

I for one advocate them both playing next week - I guess the only change I might look at is possibly a formation change to 4-2-3-1 with Lia dropping off for Fenton or Sanchez and Cernak dropping deeper next to Manny.  But would be happy to see today's lineup next week (minus sigmund of course).  EDIT - just realised they may have already been playing 4-2-3-1

Was happy with Hogg - didn't think he would do so well - he covered really well once or twice (don't think i have seen lochead do that all season), so would be happy to see him continue.

True, but Stein has mostly been a wide player most of his career, but has been playing up the middle for us.
So you think Brockie is 'class'  I don''t.
Have a look at the A league teams he has played for. None have been 'great sides'
New Zealand Knights, North Qld Fury and Newcastle Jets and now us.
Seems to go where he knows he might get a game.

Cernak was class in the first half. Nice feet, a bit of pace, an athletic player and ran his socks off. Looked at first glance to be superior to Dani. Second half he faded but I am not sure how much top football he has had recently.

Brockie is rubbish. Soon as Stein went off we lost complete shape.
