I cannot believe calls for Daniel to come in. Of course he looked good (ish) against a tiring flank. Only injury will see him back in the starting X1 again in the near future.

.... yep.

APOLOGY: I will not be at Friday's match. I have a good enough excuse...even if Bill says it's not. So at the bottom end of aisle 24 there'll be far less rubbish being spouted.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I saw the boys at the pool today. they were all there and all seemed to be in great spirits. Talked to Daniel in the spa pool and I just wanna stress what a good guy he is. He said he loves it here and it's good for his family. We are both foreigners and we both love NZ. Told him that if he liked Wgtn so far, in a couple of years he won't wanna live anywhere else..also Fred seems very modest.

Back to more important things.
That's my pick

                                                      Paston
                                Muscat   Siggy     Durante    Locky

                                          Ferrante McKain Brown Daniel
                                                             Fred
                                                         Smeltz

Hearfield is not a striker. So I don't understand why he has to play up front. I'd rather have daniel in the midfield, playing with Fred and feeding Smeltz, who despite having played some horrible games this season is still netting them!!
Plus, Mc Kain and Brown (and Ferrante) would give us cover in the middle of the park...so why not!

I think the Bertos Hearfield Smeltz combo across the front works so far because they have good understanding, they've all scored goals in our last two A-league games, Hearfield and Bertos are pacy and keen, and prepared to run at defence, and put pressure on up front. I think if you see these three up front you'll get your moneys worth out of the game.

I think if Fred has these 3 options in front of him to feed or to draw players he will be much better.  I would play him instead of Ferrante. Though I wouldn't necessarily give him a whole game if he hasn't got the juice. Ferrante does like to shoot, but they are also often telegraphed shots, as opposed to snap shots after beating a man and have a low percentage rate. IE he hasn't scored any of them.

I think Brown is a must start. But could up his game. Also another guy who has scored this season, and has had two or three shots on target.

Between him and Fred there has to be a threat through the centre though, to create space on the flanks or at least put the opposition in two minds.

I like the idea of McKain dropping deeper and playing a link with the defence.

err. yeh.

I'm thinking along the lines of:
                                    Paston
Muscat            McKain             Sigmund    Lochness
         Ferrante         Brown            Daniel/Hearfield
                                  Fred
                 Bertos                   Smeltz

Bench:
Durante
Moss
Hearfield/Daniel
Costa

Really trying to convince my mates to come yo the game on Friday. Exams are over and its a Friday night, musch beter than a thousnad sunday games. But the problem is, i convince em to come but if theyt dont complately luc out and buy a ticket in aile 21 or 22, then they are guna have to sit by them selves. There pulling out when i tell em, that they cant sit with me unless there prepared to try sneak across, Very fustrating, when im sure the stadium, the phoenix, us want more people coming, but becasue iof the restictions, they just decide they cant be botherd with the fuss. I don't no what the answer is, Bar opening it up to anuyone like begining of last season (which was way meaner) but the bottom line is the fellas who are most likely to introduce friends are the guys siting in aisle 21 and 22. Annoying is all.

Heres hoping im wrong and we get 15 thousand on Friday

Yip I Agree too. But I cant see Herbert starting Daniel Yet.
Don't know if he has shown enough to credit a start.

However you could slot hearfield in for Daniel.
Possibly Pushing Fred wide??

They both need to be in the starting line-up, otherwise our midfield will be run over. Easy.

I thought that Fred and Bertos linked up beautifully which nearly led to a goal on debut for Fred so I'd make sure that we use that wisely

it was in response to torne's comment (which he has since edited). he thought that valeo said hearfield should start ahead of bertos but it was the other way round which i kindly pointed out to him

Manny v Allsop should be an interesting little contest this Friday. Manny will be wanting to make a point after being run ragged by Allsop last time. There's a bit riding on this one for him too because a good performance might see him cement that RB spot, otherwise he might find himself dropped in favour of the Sigmund/Durante/Dodd/Lochhead line up.

Although Durante can't take his place for granted either....

Yep. Unfortunately I don't think either one of them can control the midfield on their own.

Fred needs to be as central as possible too. No use on the wing.

Quietly optimistic about this one!!!
With out doubt Melbourne will be a huge challenge but I think we will be up to it. Our midfield won't be run over this time and if Muscat and Lockhead control the flanks we could have a chance.

We need to go at them like we did vs Sydney. Get in their faces in midfield and never let them settle. If we do all that and Fred can conjure up a goal or two for Smeltz then we could win.
If we sit back and let them play their game then we will be TOAST!!!!!!

When you look at the stats this year we are OK since the first disaster vs Perth. Since then in the last 7 games its won 4, draw 1 lost 2.......thats not too bad. The team now is settled and they look better mentally.

i think i actually am prefering daniel coming on from the bench.. i consider him good enough to start personally, but on Sunday when he came on there was deifinately some kind of spark added. Although this week i would leave him and Fred on the field at the same time..

It's a pity Dodd is suspended for this one because it'd be great to see him irritate Kevin Muscat to the extent that he lashes out at him and gets sent off.  I dislike Muscat almost as much as I do Joel Griffiths. loyalgunner2008-11-26 17:35:49

I'm fine with it too but i'd rather see him come on at 60 mins instead of 70-80
