I saw the boys at the pool today. they were all there and all seemed to be in great spirits. Talked to Daniel in the spa pool and I just wanna stress what a good guy he is. He said he loves it here and it's good for his family. We are both foreigners and we both love NZ. Told him that if he liked Wgtn so far, in a couple of years he won't wanna live anywhere else..also Fred seems very modest.
Back to more important things.
That's my pick
Paston
Muscat Siggy Durante Locky
Ferrante McKain Brown Daniel
Fred
Smeltz
Hearfield is not a striker. So I don't understand why he has to play up front. I'd rather have daniel in the midfield, playing with Fred and feeding Smeltz, who despite having played some horrible games this season is still netting them!!
Plus, Mc Kain and Brown (and Ferrante) would give us cover in the middle of the park...so why not!
I think the Bertos Hearfield Smeltz combo across the front works so far because they have good understanding, they've all scored goals in our last two A-league games, Hearfield and Bertos are pacy and keen, and prepared to run at defence, and put pressure on up front. I think if you see these three up front you'll get your moneys worth out of the game.
I think if Fred has these 3 options in front of him to feed or to draw players he will be much better. I would play him instead of Ferrante. Though I wouldn't necessarily give him a whole game if he hasn't got the juice. Ferrante does like to shoot, but they are also often telegraphed shots, as opposed to snap shots after beating a man and have a low percentage rate. IE he hasn't scored any of them.
I think Brown is a must start. But could up his game. Also another guy who has scored this season, and has had two or three shots on target.
Between him and Fred there has to be a threat through the centre though, to create space on the flanks or at least put the opposition in two minds.
I like the idea of McKain dropping deeper and playing a link with the defence.
err. yeh.
