Has Tyler down as Suspended but Manny only down as Omitted. Interesting.

Could just be that he needs to get refreshed. Tired legs and all that. Otherwise could be Ricky just isn't happy with midfield option taking

Or he could be taking internal disciplinary action. Unusual if so but unlikely. If he has done, well respect to Ricki but he has to learn to be tough and drop them when they are not playing.

I would go for 532 :                                                           Bench: McMaster, Lindsay, Totori, Fenton

                               Paston

               Boxall     Sigmund    Durante

Bertos                                                       Lochhead

                Smith         Lia          Sanchez

Melbourne Victory will be pleased that he won't be able to injure Rojas on Saturday.

Manny you cock! You are a senior player......how many times has your ill discipline cost you and the team.

Just as well Smith didn't have a fractured cheekbone or we would be in trouble in CM. Lyndsay must get some game time now.

Man we have a lean squad. Pantellis and Pav not replaced, Iff's injured, Boyd and Manny suspended

Im sure people said just this before the last victory game and the roar game last weekend. Funnily enough the victory are probably saying just mark brockie, nobody else can get a threatening shot on target. Just saying

rojas, so special

He should be fined. Nobody should be surprised as his record speaks for itself.
Burns is no different except he is a much better player.

Clear video evidence vs he said/he said. Manny copped a 4 match ban pre-season, that would have counted against him. Time for Smith & Lia to step up.

Tbh what Manny did you see week in week out. It wouldn't have been picked up if Bes hadn't had his little hissy. Reminds me of the nrl when a player stays down just so replay of incident is shown so it can be put on report

Do you think it's coincidence that both suspensions were for indescretions that occured during matches officiated by Tim McGilchrist?

Which games do you watch? That is bullshit. I don't see players elbowed in the face every week and I watch at least 7 games.

You can't blame the referee for this one. This was a complete fuck up by Manny. There was nothing in the game that warranted this.
As much as he is a cock, Berisha actually handled himself well for a change.

elbow in the face.. Pleaseeee. You obviously watch to much European football where if you get 5 yards near someone it's a free kick. The player Manny shrugged off with admittedly leading with the elbow hardly noticed it. Watch English championship or league 1 where the real men play and you will see it every 5 mins. Not this Hollywood premiership /La liga fairy boy crap

Not once but twice. By the way regardless of which games you watch the fact is it is still illegal and thuggery, and I might add cowardly

Actually, if he'd got twice as long it wouldn't have been outrageous. He had a go twice, has a history, and has also got away with it in the past (thinking here of breaking Marco's jaw last season).

If the Phoenix are smart, they wont say anything on the issue and let it lie. You've basically summed it up El Grap and Boro.

Considering the factors, he is lucky with just 3.

Manny has pissed me off this season.

If you are going to have the team arranged around your personal preferences then one thing's for sure - you better front up and do your job superbly.

He hasn't done that, and now this happens.

Hopefully a 3 week break will allow him to undertake a period of self-reflection.

Or go home to Melbourne for a week and get it out of his system by hammering the missus and seeing his family.

Do not under estimate the effect on being away from your Doris.

Followed by a struggle to get back into the team because his replacement is doing the job Manny's failed to do all season?

Would work for me. :)

I think our best way of playing them is to press when their defenders have it, you are likely to turn over ball high up the field, but then the defense has to drop more quickly when/if they get it through to their midfield and not under immediate pressure. It was that second part we didn't do against them in the earlier round and they got in behind us far too easily. This is the sort of game I would even consider playing 3 at the back, Melbourne aren't playing any genuine strikers so having 4 back there will be leaving dead players a lot.

Playing high with 3 at the back will be a spanking and a half. I laugh at no genuine strikers. Where does Rojas sit on the golden boot? How many has Archie scored in his career?

It wasn't a comment on their ability, it was a comment on what position they are playing. Rojas and Archie are both playing as wide forwards, it is a different position to a genuine striker. Victory have played every game this season with a Flores or Nabout as a "false 9". With four at the back, all in a line, many of them will doing nothing for much of the match.

If they are playing as wide forwards, what is the merit in giving them more space down the flanks by having only three defenders at the back?  And Nabout has hardly been playing a false 9 role, just because he the player to take the field when Flores gets subbed off doesn't mean he plays in the same role as Flores does.

Its not even close - Burns by a mile.  Manny's passing game is not up to scratch for that position.

However Manny is a better right back & should have been playing there since season start.

Moving Manny into DM was a turning point for our season a few seasons ago and after the Sydney game this year it looked like a great move. Since then his form has disappeared, maybe the break will freshen him up but moving him back to RB I don't think is the answer.

Strangely his best performance since that Sydney game was when he had to shift into the CB against Adelaide, when Dura came off hurt.

does seem a bit shitey considering they left Leo Bertos lying there while they played on.  Listening to the crowd at Brisbane you remember that before Ange this was the team that supported Danny Tiato, Kruse, Miller etc etc...

I dunno-- didn't seem like he made contact. But definitely has priors. Surely the ref had seen the incident- or is he claiming he didn't see it?

Perhaps we can ask WSW for some spare players? they seem to have two first teams ready to go...

Because your center backs are not marking a striker you are able to cover them both with 3 at the back, and in some ways you naturally stay inside them more instinctively. Nabout seems to be playing a similar role to Flores to me, he tends to follow the ball out wide more and is much more likely to run or shoot.

And remember, from all this you have an extra man in midfield.
