4-0? I'm pretty sure I saw Moss concede one in the second half, and I overheard someone saying the final score was 4-2.

what game were you watching mate? :D
Nah it was Spoonley and especially in one occasion he missed the ball and the TW winger crossed it, but it went all the way across the goal without actually being tapped in!
no goals scored by TW
4-0 the final result

I was watching the same game, but evidently wasn't watching hard enough! I blame sleep deprivation. That's my excuse and i'm sticking by it That, or maybe I need a stronger prescription

That's not really a typo. It was Phoenix IX in the first half

LoL mate, I couldn't see that well myself..
I guess you might have been confused by the fact that Spoonley was wearing Moss' top..
but then again, there was an indian looking fellow who had Smeltz's no.9 shirt and looked nothing like him!!
Or there was a guy wearing Christie's shirt as well...they made it tricky for us!

I also noticed that Felipe had CAMPOS written on his shoulder..does he usually have the same name on in the A-League matches????

Go to Gallery -> TW vs Phoenix XI (25/10/07) but give HardNews a few minutes to upload the pictures first

The No. 9 is Costa Rican.  Miguel something.  Never did work our who the 6 was.  He had Campos and that shirt pre-season but has Felipe now.

Yomcat, photo's on the gallery link, once I approve them.

It was his pre-season top. And with the other shirts, that got real confusing for awhile. Aloisi, Smeltz, Christie and some people in Lochhead's shorts.

don't worry, there are no photos of boobies (this time) :D

Yomcat, yeah most players were wearing the 'wrong' gear, but I guess that if the Nix were 'borrowing' TW players they had to supply them the correct gear to play in.

Was a bit puzzled though as to why Spoonley didn't have his own jersey..

I thought it was Mossy's shorts that the girls were trying to get into

the pics seem to be smaller than their normal size..I guess HN must have had to reduce them cause they're quite big..maybe you guys could save them and zoom in a little

oh ok, ah well as I said they can save them and zoom in cause there are a few nice details (i.e. the ball in the air when Felipe takes the penalty..)

Thanks HN, appreciate it!

I heard someone to the left of me saying "What...that's not Aloisi!" haha
Cleberson's kit had Santos on the back I think...must have been gutting for sit on the sidelines in full kit. I'd be tempted to jump up and start kicking around...mind you, I wore the standard Phoenix kit and I was tempted to join in anyway!

nice, I took about 50 but some of them are complete rubbish (too much sun and too fast a game!)

[my beautiful girl wants you all to know she took the pictures..]

Anyway, the more the merrier..
Was DialSquare by the goal? Saw a couple of guys playing with a camera around there..

I took some photos and videos, but my camera's batteries are flat so they're just charging now. I'll try to somehow drag myself away from here to actually start packing for my lacrosse tournament so that hopefully by the time I'm finished, I can upload any good ones myself, and maybe youtube some videos.

For the first ten minutes after we got there we were by the ramp up to the Terrace, then we were on the deck, waiting for Feverish and James Dean to finally appear.

right I must have seen you guys then.
I was the one who went to the toilet like 4 times (took a whole thermos full of tea with me, and the consequences have been devastating)!

So, excuse my ignorance again, Feverish is the british man who owns Champs right??

The ignorance is totally forgiveable, it's a very low key sport in NZ, pretty much restricted to Auckland, which is why I'm on the rep team for Wellington instead of as a waterboy! It's "that sport with the net on the end of a stick", most people know it from American Pie. I'm retiring after the season though, was fun to try it for a year but not really my thing in the end. I'm thinking of maybe getting back into football next year...even if I haven't played it in 10 years

How well did O'Sullivan play? I always wondered whether he would be more use to the nix plying on the field rather than coaching.

No, that is Dickie aka Champs#1 or something on here.

Check the gallery and you'll see shots of Feverish with his name next to him, and me, and James Dean.  DialSquare is in there to but I don't believe he's named anywhere.

Oh, except in the name and shame thread after Perth.

sounds like a nice sport. And I mean, I used to 'play' tennis table (at a quite serious level).
But despite having had a crack at: tennis, swimming, boxing
my main sport has always been football. Played in Italy's U21 National League of Indoor Soccer for 2 years but I screwed up my groin and sort of retired.

Been playing football for Varsity for the past 2years, had a lot of fun but wanna look at something a bit more organized and competitive for next season. Any suggestions?

Certainly not out of his depth.  I know they were talking to the FFA about getting his status changed as currently he counts as a 'foreign' player.  That way he could be used for emergency cover.

Not sure if it was ever done.

Work on your fitness over summer and try to get a few trials at better clubs than University.

nah the thing happend as follows:

I was enjoying lots of football on Sky Sport (instead of studying, as usual) and I had just made myself a cuppa before the replay of Phoenix vs CCM started. At the same time I jumped on YF, checked the forum and realized the Nix were playing vs TW.

Didn't want to wast such a nice tea, so I poured it into my thermos and took it with me....

Who did O'Sullivan use to play for?? Is he that good? What kind of coach is he at the moment?

Indeed I will, although will be overseas from mid-November to the beginning of February..do you think training will have already started (in most clubs)by the time I get back?

I'll train overseas, that's for sure. I just need a team that forces me to train at least twice a week. Need commitment. Had a good team this year, yet some players were more interested to get pissed every second weekend and they turned up to games in shocking conditions.

Plus we got the occasional "study comes first" player..and that was it...

Parramatta Power before that.

He is assistant manager with Stu Jacobs, they share the role.  He was playing A-League for the Mariners last year.  If I could bother loading FM I'd tell you how many games...  actually, hang on.  I have the Phoenix mini-ed file.

Swindon Town, Cardiff City, Plymouth Argyle, Parramatta Power, Geylang (Singapore), Mariners.  Played 14 games for the Mariners last season.

I'd imagine that pre-season for most clubs will start late January/early February, so you probably should be able to squeeze in on time. You may want to sound out a few clubs before leaving overseas and tell them about you plans/situation. The Capital Soccer website has contact details for all clubs in Wellington (www.soccer.org.nz).

thanks grapadura. Will think about it, although I have to admit I have a very poor understanding of how the various Capital League(s) work..

For me it'd be great to play from Div 6 up so we get a ref and a bit more 'organization'. But thanks I'll have a browse and perhaps will make a few phone calls.

In a way I don't even mind grabbing a lot of bench, as long as I'm fit and I train, make friends within the team etc..that's what I miss the most about playing at a serious level
