Given the very low number of wins accumulated by New Zealand sides over the 64 A-League rounds looking at the number of wins/draws/losses doesn't prove much other than we've had quite a lot of the last two.

It is interesting to note the number of cards dished out by Green and Williams however. Can we find out how many of those cards were given to Knights/Phoenix players?

I think Lemon was after which team the cards were given to.

Interesting also that Shields is the number one ranked referee and we've only had him once.

Pretty much. If a significantly higher number of the cards given out by say Williams, were given to Knights/Nix players then I'll gladly join News in his Williams baiting.

seems to me that we've had an Ben Williams and Peter Green more than we deserve.......both with an average of 3 yellows dished out per game!

Save him for the big games ie when sydney or tards are playing

We must not be a BIG game team in the eyes of the officials. I don't agree but if we make the finals it should change and we won't have to put up with Ben Williams.

3 Yellows a game average is pretty low really, given how physical the league is and there were occaisions last night where I really thought a card was deserved and or coming and they didn't.

The yellows shown are just for the kiwi teams. Does not include rival team.

Ahh, thank you. The way you put it in the first post it looked like match stats, not stats for the NZ teams only. Well, now I am very annoyed with Williams and Green.

Not much me thinks. The refs get assessed during the season and i guess they would have a review at seasons end, but same crap each season with certain refs!

The ref standard is similar to the league standard, unfortunately. The worse the league, the worse the ref's.

sh*t refs are prominent throughout lower leagues in England... they make this load of mugs look competent.

The ref in last nights game good.
As for the lino's, I think you need to be a.d.d to be one of those, thank goodness they arent the refs cause they dont have a clue.

Surely it's only fair to make sure that the officials are distributed so that they are in charge of each teams home fixtures an equal (or close to it) number of times...we shouldn't have a situation where we keep getting Ben Williams...especially as yellow cards = suspensions and some refs are way more card happy. All we want is a decent referee.

To be fair, I'm happy to have Green over Breeze. Breeze simply can't referee and Green is their number 2 now. Hell even the Aussies acknowledge that. At least no-one is complaining about Oleary.

I'm pretty sure our abuse of the referees doesn't help our situation...

Hahahaha.

Yeah they'll care.

Three for me, and two for them.

Nothing they can do. FFA can only overturn mistaken identity and violence not seen by the ref.

But as a result of his inept performance, they can drop him to reserve game for any length of time desired. Preferably, the rest of this and next season.

What reserve grade? You are missing the point.

He is going to a WC, there is no reserve grade, nothing will happen because it was not a case of violence missed or mistaken identity.

If Ben Williams gets appointed to a game next week I will be gobsmacked. Deserves the rest of the season off.

You have to wonder if he is the fall guy for the FFA not wanting a NZ team in the finals due to gate and tv revenue....

I guess they wouldn't want the JamTards in either then based on that assumption.

To any outsider, investors, prominent players from overseas, coaches from overseas that sort of refereeing makes the whole league look

a) corrupt
b) farcical
c) both.

No professional league would be happy with that standard of officiating. Say what you like the A league grows in ability season by season and the match officials need to reflect that as well. So yes I reckon even Kiwi-hating Aussies who work in FFA would be embarrassed by that performance tonight.
