Still on the shopping list for me

1,12 to 15 goals per season striker

2, Ward or someone like him

3, wide defensive backup...someone who can play LB or RB

4, CD backup....is Musa ready?

5, backup goalie

6, youth guys.....maybe Lovemore

The run on 11 looks really solid and experianced. There are a lot of guys who have been playing atthis levelor higher for a number of years.if they gel this year then we should have a good season. But top of the list is someone who can lead the line and bang in a dozen or more goals. That sort of player could make the difference between mid table and top 2.

Fair assessment. Trouble is the run on team that starts the season is usually vastly different from the team that plays the majority of the season.

This absolutely screams out decent mid-table team to me.

Nice anti-jinx SC03.

Last season we were sure we had a playoff/toiletseat winning team, and look where that got us.

With reference to earlier posts: stuff said we only had 13 players (pre Pantelis), and in the list there was no Crowther. Remembering that there's no Gould to stick on the bench, has Reece been released, or are there a number of players still being offered (or negotiating) renewals (Ward, Dmac Crowther..) ??

AFAIK Crowther's gone back to Australia to look for a new team, fairly enough he got sick of warming the bench. I don't know whether or not he got offered a contract, but I assume he wouldn't really want to take one even if he did.

But would he start at any other A-League team?

James Musa proved he's the best under-20 defender still in NZ.

Andy Bevin would be handy too.

Yup, re-sign Musa.

Can only grow better. Sign him on a 3 year deal, and maybe we can pick up a transfer fee when someone overseas wants him :)

God forbid we make some money....

As he's playing Central League for Wests I don't think that statement is a stretch.

Not sure if this is meant to be public knowledge but I heard that Musa is being scouted for the Man United yoof team. I'd say the World Cup will be pretty defining on what he'll be up to next season.

He and Nick Branch were a very solid pairing against Island competition but it will be another thing against better teams.

I hope he does well, he has the athleticism and strength to get there - a few more years training around professionals can only be a good thing.

A reverse Pelter.  From the Premier League to Western Suburbs.  Musa going from Wests the the Premier League.

Doubts.

There was an article relating to a Man Utd scout being keen on two NZu20 players. People then assume it must be Rojas and Musa.

I despise MUFC on general principle, but if they got Marco out of his MVFC contract before the season begins, I would love them forever.

always good to hear new players settling in well.

He pretty much says he thinks the starting side has already been signed, and that new signings will be more for depth. I'd hope we could get a couple of imports to push themselves into the side honestly.

Twitter tells me that we have just signed Niko Tsattalios.
(online editor of four four two)

We need a name for him, Tsattalios is frustrating to write.
Tats? No, wait, that's Pavs...

I suggest we call him Nick Satellite. Perhaps a chant to the tune of SATELLITE OF LOVE: "Bom, bom, bom, Tsatallios we love you..."Doloras2011-07-19 15:57:17

Yes, sounds like a good signing. He was good against Wests and sounds like he went well on Sunday also.

Still young enough to mature into a Manny Monster too.

But is it a precious youth spot gone to an Aussie? Coal face football, good honest kiwis etc etc

If Pav and Satellite are two of the yoof, who will be the third? Chettleburgh, or someone else from the U20s? Perhaps O'Keefe?Doloras2011-07-19 16:33:06

I believe Pav is no longer young enough for a youth spot.
