Crap, didn't Dani Sanchez read this forum and realise he's wasting his time at a doomed club with no backroom staff, guaranteed tiny crowds and wooden spoon?

Well, it could be worse - he may have had to go back to Scotland otherwise!

Does anyone remember - this is my own personal recollection from the 82 World Cup - that there was a kind of corn chip whose TV ad was a chant which ran thus:

SANCHO! (D major)
SANCHO! (Eb major)
SANCHO! (D major)

That has to be our new CAM's chant.

That was my first impression too when I heard it.
Mind you, Ricki thought that was Kosta and Marco best position too.
B*llocks to subs, just start them if they can attack, its not as if there is any bloody relegation in this league.

ok signing for me.....welcome to the club Dani

Sure hope Rickie gives the guy a chance. Start him from game one and let him get some confidence and develop some combinations. He is the sort of player we need to lead us to a different side of play. Attacking midfielders need to be confidence players.....he won't get that sitting on the bench.

I suspect Rickie will start the season conservatively with Brown, Lia and Muscat...and we will play our normal way...play it wide and whip in crosses. This is too easy to counter IMO. Sides will know to defend wide, stop Ifill and you shut the Nix down. A proper attacking mid would mix it up a bit more.

C'mon Rickie, give the lad a chance!!!!

                                                                  ifill
                     pantelis               sanchez        brown/greenacre                  bertos
                 downey                    durante          sigmund                                manny
                                                               paston

i would have sanchez starting .running at defenders playing on playing balls into the feet of pantelis, bertos and ifil. use brown to float and even 3 at back with manny playing further forward to help stop attacks on goal. i think this is a very attacking strategy but one we should go with.

ill be dissapointed if he doesnt get a shot to start, but seems he'll have to earn it off of the bench. Could be good for the side though, maybe it will put a wee bit more pressure on the current guys. We are still a striker short of a team I would be happy with. For me, if we could get a solid center forward, with Iffy on one of the flanks and the more selfless wingers on the other, then we will be allright

I like this formation. Only 10 players, shows we've got balls. Sack Ricki, hire Taranix

I'm looking forward to seeing him play. As I would be with any new creative mid-fielder. There is concern with how long it has taken to sign him, and what the reasoning behind that was, but before seeing him it is difficult to comment. Commentary from games has actually been fairly positive. He has showed he wants to be here by extending his trial right through his injury.rjmiller2011-09-06 09:10:25

IMO we can't afford to drop both Manny and Lia off CM....Brown will randomly disappear in game and our CBs will get exposed badly...this becomes more important if we want to start Sanchaz in CAM...IMO Brown only goes forward and score goals, if Sanchaz does his job he can replace Brown...

       Ifill    New Striker(Greeny)
                   Sanchaz
 Pantalis      Lia    Manny
Lockhead   Dura   Siggy   Downey(Bertos)

Manny/Lia/Siggy to cover right flank if needed, Downey/Bertos as wing back. Given how Bertos performed last year, i think he has become very "defensive", so probably good for him to start the season from playing wingback, fighting for starting spot with Downey.  If his form stays like last season i don't want him to start every game...same to brown.

Obviously just comments from the coaching staff, and they obviously wouldn't be saying bad things about a player they have just signed, but these comments sound positive.

Player-coach Chris Greenacre believes Sanchez will dazzle on attack. Greenacre says he's a player who has the potential to create goals with some spectacular passing in the midfield.

Asked if Sanchez shaped as the elusive playmaker, Herbert said: "I think he's different, he's clever, he's good off both feet, he's probably technically different to what we've got.

"He can play in behind a striker or in behind a front two; he can play a little wider if you needed him to.

"So the options are the appealing thing, but one of the big things is he's fitted in very quickly to the culture, accepted it, and he works really hard.

"I'm not saying other foreign players don't, but I'll give him his due, he's knuckled down and done everything that's been asked of him."
