who we talking about here?

They sit at the back of the feverzone at (proper) home matches, ive always been with them for all except at one home game. Just sick of whenever something happens, people say it was them, when clearly it isnt. Have suspected its them who people have been talking about in the past, and now someone has posted a photo of them, and others are saying "yeah thats the same guys". Not cool.

I dont know what they were like at this palmy nth game as i wasnt there, but at every other game theyve been fine, except for the odd random outburst at daniel by one of them. Theyre loud and have british accents, that makes them responsible for every dickhead action in the feverzone? I think not.

well to be fair,it was you and a couple of others who started it. So its already turned into that, and im quite allowed to defend them (especially since a photo has been posted).

Also,if we had megaphones,id be likely to not much like it either, but thats an entirely seperate thread

Fair enough, I just wanted to post to get that off my chest, it wasn't my intention to kick off a witch-hunt.

Should have had a race going during the game. Would have been more exciting than the game, OR that nix promotional van during burnouts round the track!

Hold on, he mentioned that they were acting up in Palmy, and now you're saying that they're blamed for everything that happens in wellington.  That's really not got anything to do with people acting up in Palmy does it?

was one I particularly liked. I would call it

"Brosque in flagrante delicto" ....... has a certain ring to it.

I'm of the opinion that beeing a discerning fan allows you to vent your frustration at individuals, yet still love the team. Indeed, love of the team often drives the desire to see a player get on their bike.

When its constantly at the same player for 90 minutes like in my case (and no, it wasn't the guys in the photo) it gets tiresome very quickly.

So the solution to being biffed off the stadium and people not liking Palmy is to play at a ground that holds 2000...  great spot for pre-season games, not even close to an A-League venue.

I think there was a rule in the NSL once that 3000 was the minimum seat requirement for a game. Not sure about A-League rules, but 3000 seats minimum is the number I recall

I'm glad it looked nice on TV because being there was awful.

That's what I imagine football grounds in Eastern Europe to look like. Rickety old seating, dirt track round the pitch, high wire fences. All that was missing was the police turning up in armoured vehicles to blast us all with water cannons. And that would have been a more pleasant experience.

Sometimes it's good to be somewhere old and with a bit of character. Here in Melbourne, a lot of us wish we played at the old Olympic Park (the new stadium here is right next door to it though).

Even though Olympic Park was old and craggy, it had some character and you were closer to the ground than Etihad Stadium.

Etihad is new and comfy, but lacks character when the seats aren't it. I know the new stadium here will solve it, but yeah, if you look at lower league Belgium, Holland and Serie B in Italy, the stadium you guys played in in Palmerston North had that effect. Looked good on TV, really did.

Some local in the crowd was reported as saying "wouldn't it be awesome if the stock cars were racing while the game was being played?!".

I was there and I thought it looked good too. Wind was a factor but would have been at any ground where the end or ends are open [unlike Wellington where it is fully enclosed]. Saw an article that said the pitch was too spongy but the same article also said it was too hard. The pitch looked good to me and there weren't any obvious errors becaus eof the state of the pitch, all seemed to eb related to wind in my opinion.

I must admit to hollering loudly in frustration on Saturday night...and it might've even been in an accent too!

Alas it wasn't directed at any particular player that I remember (other than when Daniel smacked that free kick at Ifill's back)...more of a "F***ing helllllllllllllllllllllllllll" when there was an outrageously bad pass.

It's a reflex action I think, can't stop it!

Ok,ill explain better. Ive been of the belief theyve been blamed for things in the past. Then again after the palmy north game it was suggested in the same way it was them, then the photo came up and there they were. So thought since their photo was up,that id clarify that they have never acted up in games previous (so that no link was made, and no hate started coming our/their way in future games)...and to also point out that it wasnt likely to be them as theyve never acted up previously bar the odd bit of yelling (which is quite normal in the YFZ).

Though i cant say for sure about the palmy game as i wasnt there, but based on games in wellington,id be surprised if it was. EDIT: and i just saw that aitkenmike said that it wasnt them anyway.

Did that make more sense as to what i meant?

Jag and Aitken, just in case in between your posts you missed Tony P's view on continuing to take games away, which I believe brings us back to my point. Hope comments from the CEO adds some of that "substance" you were looking for:

"Mr Pignata said the door was open for Palmerston North to host the Phoenix again.

"Definitely, we hope to take games away and it's not too far from Wellington so hopefully people who were there for the first time on Saturday enjoyed it." "

Oh dear. Certainly seems to. Hopefully, Tony P was just playing politics and making all the right noises. Dumb idea, imho.

I hope he was playing politics too - he's issued conflicting statements on it, depending on the audience. On these forums before the season, he said it was because they didn't have a choice. Yet in the papers, he's talked about the strategy taking the team outside Wellington.

I wouldn't mind knowing what the true position is. From my perspective, if they're going to make a habit of taking the Phoenix away from us, then how do they expect us to come back to them when they do play in Wellington?

surprise, surprise - we agree SiNZ, funny that

we seem to share the quaint view that home games work best when they are played in the club's home city - the one where the vast majority of the clubs fans (including  the season ticket holders) live
