Does anyone know how many times the Nix have gone towards the Fever Zone in the second half?

I'm sure the majority of games they do this and I mentioned to my mate that if they are winning the toss then they should go towards the zone first for a change cos we were lacking wins at home.
On saying that, I do remember beating Sydney this year by going towards the zone first half. After that my memory fades.
I reckon last year all but 1 or two games were away from the zone first half.

I'm sure that if we win the toss it is the normal call.

So that's 4 all up last year.

If that is the game vs Adelaide that was the night before the Galaxy game then that was scored at the fever end.

Also Aloisi got the goal against the Galaxy at the opposite end.  I know it wasn't a match in the regular season but it has to count because we are gauging how helpful the crowd is so that won't matter.

so then the percentage of goals scored at our end in the second half is 59%???? or is it 59% of all home goals.
59% of all home goals. Fever end in second half is 7/10 Fever end goals first season and 4/5 Fever end goals this season, so 11/15 or 73% of all Fever end goals are in the second half. Also, 50% of goals are scored at the fever end in the second half. Which is a lot. (it should be ~25%)

Can you say with 95% confidence that in the long term it is more likely that a goal will be scored in the fever end than the other end, based on this sample size?

No. I'm no statistician. And even then, the end is only one variable of many.

All fixed. Read the entire thread...

I think we're just stroking Feverish's ego. Assuming that it's all to do with the crowd is kinda stupid.

Then again, I could add in the friendlies (pre-season and Galaxy) tomorrow. Home Internet is too crappy to do anything here.

but in that game the crowd went right the way round, so YF would have made relatively less impact

Actually, in that game YF was non-existent.

Yeah, I was in my normal seat in YF zone that game, and had an elderly couple sitting politely next over, and some very, very drunk girls (maybe 18-19) in the row below.

Never saw either group after that game...

I think the Fever Zone gets more into it when they play is towards it and second halfs are always inspiring when the noise gets up and Daniel starts flapping his arms around....so migrate to the other end if needs be so they are always playing towards the YF.  Of course that wont work when we have a full stadium...

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

not sure red badge would appreciate the whole zone moving to other end of stadium

Now that is a result.

I can't even remember the Beckham game so can't comment.

Okay, I decided not to add the friendlies because I can't be bothered mainly.

However, I did add a summary table which should provide stats at a glance. I'll probably keep that page updated as the season goes on.

I really hate to be out-geeked (even by you yomcat), so I broke this down into 15-minute periods.  Major findings are (with apologies for the ones that have already been pointed out)...

* The Phoenix have scored 24 goals at the ROF (including the game last night).
* They've scored 8 at the northern end and 16 at the Fever end, so exactly two-thirds at the fever end.
* Of the 16 scored at the fever end, 12 have been in the second half, and of those 12, 6 have been scored in the last 15 minutes. Conversely, the Phoenix have only scored once in the last 15 minutes at the northern end.
* The Phoenix have never scored at the fever end in the first 15 minutes.
* The most common 15-minute period for the Phoenix to score at home in is the 76th-90th minute (7 goals).  Second most common is the 16th-30th minute (6 goals).

And if you're not asleep by now, here's the table...

  North Fever TOTALS 1-15 1 0 1 16-30 4 2 6 31-45 1 2 3 46-60 0 3 3 61-75 1 3 4 76-90 1 6 7 TOTALS 8 16 24

In terms of the way the Phoenix play in each half, they've played towards the fever end in the second half 12 times in their 17 home matches.  Their results though are actually better when they play towards the northern end in the second half; of the five matches they've played that way, they've won 2, drawn 2 and lost just 1.  Of the 12 games they've played heading towards the fever in the second half, they've won just 3, drawn 4 and lost 5.

I really do need to find something else to do on Saturday nights.

i think you've won back your title, o Royal Geekness LF1 ,

i figure the connection with the age old stories of Liverpool attacking the Kop end must have inspired you against the young pretender

but, i suspect that we'd need 30 goals before we can apply a parametric analysis of significance - e.g. a chi square test

Good train spotting boys.
So when do we prefer to play? Friday night,saturday/night or sunday/night.
Begin.

The far end should be known as the "Tim Brown End"

I say tackle him in the face.

You can get that from my Goals page thingy
