If he doesn't fire after this season I think he should be released.

I had high hopes for pav this season, then he broke his arm being an idiot - from what I've read, and then that god awful tackle.....dump him in January and get a real striking option.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Yes, because foreign clubs will come running for a sweet sweet taste of "Master of the Bicycle Kick" Pavlovic.

Not forgetting his ability to sythe down defenders from behind and get sent off at a crucial point in the game

I like the fact that he's shown some passion. I think he's an example of zealous youth being misdirected in a squad full of players giving away dumb fouls.

We always back the players we like when they give away stupid fouls, and I'm sticking up for him.

I think he offers more pace, height, and movement off the ball than Greenie does, and has huge potential. Give the kid some time.

Better in injury time than the first few minutes.

Lacks class and appears to have no nose for goal. Can't fault the effort but not up to the required standard IMO.

To give him greater height????

Massive over reaction here, yes he did something stupid and is now paying the price with the suspension. If he didn't get the red card, no one would be moaning about his performance.

He is a young player, that is trying to force his way into the starting line up with cameo's off the bench. I think we can excuse him for trying a bit too hard, but its the only chance he gets to impress the coach in a game.

To be fair, this stands true for quite a few of the players in the squad. As it is, we're hardly in position to release players considering our playing stocks and the current vision of the new owners.

So let him play out his contract, see how it all goes and make a decision at the end of the season.

Surely it's not that hard to figure out News?

Why did we sign Downey, Pantelis and Tsattalios?

How can you say that? With two A-League clubs he has scored a total of zero goals....

Agree with this and I don't think there's any other outcome than him playing out the season with Phoenix, but for me there's only one possible decision that can be made at the end of the season - unless he somehow scores a hatful of quality goals (which isn't going to happen). If he's re-signed for next season then god help us as this is not the quality of player needed if the club wants to actually seriously be a competitor in the league and not just another also-ran.

Herbert needs to give him game time before a fair judgement can be made.
He has a history of underplaying young forwards then making a judgement on it.
I say start Pav with Greenacre. Might even give Greenacre the space to do something.
Ifill and dirty behind them and lets see what they can do.

So we can bag guys like Leo (who sits on the touchline) and Manny, Dura, Lia for not scoring (and are defensive minded players) but when a striker doesn't score, we should sympathise?

Kwas got bagged for not scoring. Pav is no different.

To all your other points sure/maybe, but how many Phoenix players have ever been shown straight reds or committed studs up tackles from behind?

Sure Brown Lia and others give away the odd stupid free kick but usually nothing as violent as that even if put it down to brain explosion.

Maybe he can be a good striker but I think he requires an attitude adjustment, more kung fu football, all Zen at peace with and one with the ball and stuff.

I had given him the benefit of the doubt, Ricki after all must see something in him for the deal he has.

But for me, as with many others on this forum it seems, he has fallen from my good graces and I'm now sort of assuming he is crap until he proves otherwise. I wish him the best of luck but if he doesn't show results soon any visit he makes to the YF forums will be met with disappointment.

P.S Pav really detracted attention from Warner's fairly poor game, very nearly spilling the ball and gifting Perth and given that he hasn't has fantastic games I think Paston should be put in goal, their should be competition in the starting line up and as long as paston has been training well I see no reason not to see if he can put a better performance and send Warner a message.
P.P.S according to Ifil Warner is one of the funniest in the squad! He looks so serious all the time, reminds me of that intimidating history teacher that gets called in to make 3rd formers toe the line!

Good impact player..just needs more game time to show what he is capable of doing but wont get it and will be another lost to the Nix cause...as noted earlier I would start him ahead of Greenie and see what happens.

He's only a kid, and I can see some real promise. If he gets the chance I think he might do really well- trouble is after the last game he looks as mad as a bumful of Smarties......
Maybe sanity can be nurtured from e.g. Lia?

One day, Smartie and Polo were enjoying a quiet drink in a bar. The bar door opened and in walked Humbug.

"Oh sh*t!" shouted Polo, and dived underneath the table.

"What are you doing?" asked Smartie.

"That humbug always slaps me and bullies me whenever I see him, so I'm hiding," replied Polo.

"You should stand up to him," said the Smartie. "He'll respect you if you do."

Sure enough, the humbug walks over and gives the Polo a smack.

"Piss off you stripey twat, or I'll knock you out," said Polo.

"Na, no problem Polo mate, leave it," said Humbug and backed off.

Next night Smartie and Polo are sitting in the bar when Humbug walks in with his friend Vapo Drop.

"Oh sh*t!" shouted Polo, and dived underneath the table.

"What are you doing?" asked Smartie.

"I know you told me to stand up to bullies, but he's with Vapo Drop," replied Polo.

"So?" said Smartie.

"He's f**king menthol."

bump

Killenesque header and the clown/laconic style and he's stopped whining to the ref as much. Let's hope he keeps his shooting boots on the rest of the season.

Certainly seems to give the playmakers something to aim at with his movement.

Scoring the occasional goal keep Brown in the starting lineup.. why shouldn't it at least work for Pav?
