Is this bit possibly an error?

THE JOB Head of Commercial Coach of the Wellington Phoenix has ultimate responsibility for the off field commercial strategy and implementation. Meeting and exceeding commercial revenue and customer satisfaction objectives

Any good prospects in NZ for a replacement?

Yup he does a lot of good work outside of the Phoenix too.

An objective question that someone will have the answer to. How much of a loss is this for us?

I think the only NZ based keeper coaches I know of are

Paul Gothard

Danny Robinson (with the Ferns fulltime).

George Smith (who used to be at Waitakere)

Grant Robertson (who used to be at Waitakere)

Kevin O'Leary (WaiBOP)

If we were looking locals, Gothard would seem to be one of the only ones that would be an option although how much of an option is he? Is Mark Oates still doing work in this respect? Robinson seems a bit young and his own technique at times is marginal

When you read that list, do we look offshore or create new pathways?

Oates still does TW. He's got a young family and seems pretty content with his current employment outside of football. Imagine they will use Chris Pilne in the interim (think he is working for the academy) and assess over the offseason.

Mark Paston is the obvious answer if he's up for it...

Huge loss Gouldy. One of the most pationate, enthusiastic coaches in the game.

Yeah he works for Revera as a BA or PM or some such. I'm sure if his employer is willing he could fit training around work.

I guess as a fill in, he could do a job for 3 months. Long term, Gould had head coach experience at HBU along with his playing experience and where he has been and specialised as a GK coach. That's a hard act to fill.

Good luck to Gouldie.  Will miss his half time comments and banter with Daniel McHardy on the radio commentary.

Maybe this could be an opportunity to establish a formal link with an EPL club.  Place for our academy lads to train for a few weeks as an experience.  Chance for WBA to send the odd lad on a season long loan

Gothard  - must have done his coaching badges to be working with the All Whites and now the Phoenix?

He must be employed on the strength of his coaching ability rather than his playing career in England which was with a lot of very minor clubs - Gray's Athletic, Chelmsford, Billericay etc. and he didn't stay long at any of them:

http://www.transfermarkt.com/paul-gothard/profil/s...

Quite a contrast with Jonathan Gould's rather more stellar playing career.

Still, good coaches can come from humble playing backgrounds sometimes (Wenger, Van Gaal, Houllier etc.)

Another ex ACFC player joins the Nix.

NB Gothard also has 5 semi-pro England caps (1996 - 1999)

plus is in the Guinness Book of Records for his 12 game run of clean sheets 1998/99, highest in England ever.

The big question - is he good enough to take Goulds position as the third ranked keeper?

Really?  There must have been other keepers here in England/UK who over the last 120 + years of Football League and even longer in the FA Cup, who have achieved this.
