UNBELIEVABLE.

What happened at the ring of fire last night is only just starting to sink in. What a result. What a performance.

You should do it as bittorrent or something so we can all share. I'd love the opportunity to relive that 90 minutes when ever I choose. Something to show the grand kids

Not sure what your point is.
What has Kevin Rudd, Steve & Bindy Irwin, Noosa got to do with Gold Coast United.

I was at Castle Point for the weekend so we were forced to watch the game at the Wakataki - the local pub. When we went in there, we asked the guy if we could watch the football. One of his mates snickered to himself when he heard us ask. The man said 'sorry, were watching the races.' We looked at the tv to see greyhound races on trackside. We asked if we could watch it at the tv at the back and he reluctantly turned the tv on after 5 minutes. Around the first few minutes a few of the pub regulars walked past and said 'typical, nil all.'
It was all worth it and so much more when I watched the best game in the phoenix history.

I have been saying this for months, the Nix have been waiting to break out.
I have watched the game 3 times and it could have be more than 6.
Without taking anything away from the Nix(because they were very good) I said after 3 games that the Gold Coast were the most over rated team in the A league. All the hype has come from the media. Both their keepers are not up to standard, and their two defenders would not get a game in any other team in the league.
They do have afew very good players but most of them have been reading the press on how good they are.
The main problem is that their coach is trying to get them to play South American football-- tip tap in their third of the field and has not realised that they are not good enough to do this.
He had the same problem with Qld Roar, who played the best football, but could not win any games. The guy is a plonker.

No doubt, but as I said, the team is over rated and to be fair Smeltz is one of them. Great in the 18 yard box, what I call a sniffer. Ifell is a far better player than Shane, and when he is tightly marked, does not want to know.
That is the problem I have with him in the AW.

I think he/she failed geography, badly.
And to mention Steve Irwin ( I think you'll find he's dead) is in very bad taste.

F*** what a fantastic game.
Our midfield was huge, hassle, hassle, hussle all game. They couldn't handle it.
Christ GCU were s**thouse, and we made them pay.
Beautiful

Thanks mate - will watch and relive the moments. i was in malaysia during the game, but got regular updates from  my kids and wife in aussie who were watching. it's the first game i haven't watched either live or on tv (so maybe i am the jinx...) At first i thought my wife's reports of a ballooning score line (i could believe 1-0, even 2-0, but when she said 3 and then 4-0 i started to get might suspicious that it was all a cruel hoax). But then my oldest boy held the phone to the tv and i could hear the commentary. what a moment. Am so bloody rapt - and thanks for posting the highlights - that's appreciated.

Wellington Phoenix 1.0.6
West Coast United 0.0.0

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

There's a good 10 min compliation with a great moment:  "Lip reading practice, with Ricki Herbert" about six minutes in.

The sound of the crowd after the sixth is unlike anything I've ever heard from an NZ crowd. Unadulterated exuberance at its best.

While I thought Chen tried hard and ran for everything when he came on did anyone see his dummy spit when we scored the 6th? Wouldn't come and celebrate with the boys and it took Siggy to give him a bit of a rark up to get him to come over, though still reluctantly. Im glad he is passionate but needs to be more of a team man from the look of things.

G**?

Or perhaps he was disappointed in himself in the passing movement that set up the goal.

(HP - f#ck off)

Don't tell me to f**k off.

So your trying to say that he shouldn't have gone over with the rest of the team to celebrate a goal just because he was disappointed in himself?

Didn't know where to post this, may have already come up. But just heard on radio Sport, that GCU have officially capped their crowd to 5000 for the up coming game, what a disgrace.

Only opening one stand, so they don;t have to pay $3.50 per ticket.

Ah i see it has come up. My Bad.
