No.
I wasn't told anything. No one talks to me.
Smithy had an informal chat with people earlier in the week (introduction through an acquaintance rather than us searching them out or them searching us out) just as an introduction and a chat about football in general but at that stage the message was all "Terry is staying on and we're just their in case".

OK, here's my tuppence worth on today's development.
Everyone here wants what is best for the club, the Phoenix. We are all, in various ways, emotionally invested, in the club. Clearly some more than others, but we all care for the club and again, in various ways, have gotten pleasure and joy, and heartache sometimes, from being supporters of the club.
And everyone of us has nothing but admiration and respect for what Terry has done. Without him none of us would have had the opportunity for that joy and pleasure the club has brought us. Heaven only knows where New Zealand football would be without the commitment, generosity and passion he has shown. It is a unique contribution to football, and indeed sport, in New Zealand. Honorary life membership is the least he deserves.
The question we are all asking is, "Is the transfer of the license a good thing, or not, for the Phoenix?" On balance, my answer is "I think so, yes." The certainty of funding the new owners bring is itself a major plus. And they appear committed to the Club in the way we all would want. Time of course will tell. The financial difficulties of Terry I believe have not been in the best interests of the Club. This is no reflection at all on Terry and what is has done and wanted to do for the club. It is just a commercial reality.
I will go to the Phoenix games this year and give them my all. And if Terry is there at our beloved Stadium, I will stand, cheer and applaud him and pay him all the respect he deserves.

Hey you bastards I'm still here.

Yup, lovely piece from Woodcock. I love that image of Terry calling him over to his office just to "have a rant" at him. I fear that Rob Morrison and Gareth Morgan are far too sane and sensible to do anything cool like that.

It's worth about $8-10 mill I think.

Why can't the other DP "reporters" write like this?

I've just realised that all this has happened while JD has been tucked up in bed.

He's going to jizz his pants just a little when he wakes up!

Ican see him now, doing that Travolta strut on his way to work.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Feel like a cliche...

The king is dead long live the king....
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

You'll all be shocked to know that Dave Burgess misquoted me quite horribly.
Anyway.
Agree completely with what some have said in terms of Terry deserving our admiration and respect. I feel the same way about Chris Turner fwiw.
To the new era of the Secret Seven then. Lots of work to do to get us ship shape for the season. Be nice if we could get a pedigree striker in before game one.
Well played everyone who has posted positive comments online.
Someone tell Stuff that the story deserves to be on their homepage, not just the DoomPost site.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Waldegrave thinks Terry is scum/football loving trash. Deserves a fate worse than death. Thinks the new owners are likewise phoenix-loving trash but will concentrate on the grass billiards - not the ego stuff. Could almost feel the Waldegrave anti-football/phoenix hate seaping through my earphones.

announcing a major sponsor next week according to Gourdie!
And for the first time I'm convinced it's not going to be WGA.
