Could Akld City's success at CWC also be a thorn in our side. Part of the reason the Nix license was granted was that it is the only professional  side. Would FIFA now see the success of City and the Nix as being an indication that NZ could stand on its own feet with a pro league.

A pro league consisting of two teams? Sounds like the SPL.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Ah, I love the internet sometimes. According to some kiwi-hater on the Expand the A League Facebook page, the FFA have rigged the A League so we'll win it this year so they can justify extending our license. Of course, he can't actually explain how they've rigged it, but...

He one of those blinkered sharkcods who can only see that it's Phoenix OR an Aus club rather than actual expansion?

Nah, I think he just doesn't think there should be a New Zealand team regardless of whether it means more Aussie teams or not. Haterz gonna hate

Farken hell, do the other NRL teams complain about the Warriors and what about the other A-NBL teams?  Breakers have won their competition 4 out of the past 5 years.    Why is it always us?

Just read the same thing on 442. Don't understand that mentality at all.

First it was because bin Hammam would take away ACL spots from them.

Now it's because we're apparently preventing Canberra from coming into the league.

If there was a solid bid from Canberra or anywhere else, why wouldn't people want MORE teams in the league rather than just replacing us? I don't get it.

So much stupid to battle in there though.

While the A-League gives the impression of a higher overall average IQ than the supporters (and players) of other Australian sports I suspect that the lows in the A-League set new standards.

Who is actually against us being in the A League? I suspect it is just a bunch of small minded prats with no sway at all.

Careful. This is the country that elected Tony Abbott, those people you just mentioned are a majority.

Also.  If you read the 442 forums you will not get sympathy from me.

I've got money riding on the Phoenix getting an extension with said xenophobes on that forum. If they pay up it will be the easiest dosh every made.

A.  They won't pay up.

B.  You are losing points of your IQ just reading it.

C.  They will still pedal their myopic crap.

I have just read the interview with Damien de Bohun and decided to discount it.

His comments sound like a cut and paste from the PR handbook without any real meaning.

Anybody on this learned forum trying to read anything meaningful into his words, have a cup of tea and lie down for a bit.

I cannot be held responsible for this, or any of the previous 3 Prime Ministers of Australia for that matter. If I had my way Bob Hawke would still be in charge.

But Queensland had already sacked Rudd once, so there must of been a reason for that. He shouldn't be hired now.

Nah, Rudd would want Asian clubs to join the A league. Malcolm will be PM shortly after NSW election on 28th.

At least Abbott has shown he can hammer in a nail.

Into the coffin of his own Party!

Malcolm and julie team would bring them back to a centrist position a la john key. Get that right and labour have no-one who will get close, certainly not shorten. Of more relevance, are any of them true football fans?

Now that is a real question. Is there a political bias in sport support? Does it merit a separate thread??
