What's the go with the academy next year? Are these guys just on a one year deal? Do we try get some more players in for next year? Do we go younger?

I think Tinnion is a real talent. Does he live here full time now or go home? I think he usually plays for Western Suburbs with Hindmarch. Hoyle came out early and played for Napier CR, don't know about Jones. What makes it hard for theses young guys is that they're imports in the A League sense and so can look forward to only NZFC football.

At the moment the Academy team allows fringe and returning from injury players to get a game at a reasonable level. If the academy goes younger, that will remove that opportunity I think. If the current players also train with the senior squad ( I don't know if they do or not) then younger players probably wouldn't be able to o that to the same extent.

They really need a youth team playing in the junior nzfc and operate as a trues academy side. I think the current rules allow the use of 1 or 2 over age players, but then we get into pro in an amateur competition territory.  I've given more questions than answers really....

lol the poll on that link asks who has been the nix's best youngster? And lists totori. Do the nix even know how old their players are?

I heard one of the tv commentators also mention how he was young and part of this youth revolution

He is 26 by the way

Just wondered that myself! I thought he was even older than that.

yeah i thought he was 28, but wiki says 26

Good to see them get a win though. Much needed.

I actually laughed at the Poll mentioning Totori as a "young" player.

Guess that means Messi should be Spain's Young Player of the Year :D

totori and smith scoring against the kids just shows where their skill level sits. Totori barely gets a look in on goal in the a-league but against players of lesser experience and ability he obviously shines, same with Smith - time for these two imports to stop taking up space on the bench and move on.

smith wasnt even in the squad for the jets game - sadly i didnt even realise this till after the game. Shows how valuable he is to us

2 starting, 2 benched, 1 not in the squad. At some points this season, Wanderers have had all 6 on the park at the same time. Not sure if we could say the same?

yeah sadly he's just not worth his import spot. not even sure if he would be worth just a regular spot anymore. I really rated the guy too.

Honestly thought Smith could fill the hole that Brown left in the midfield. We could use his aerial presence up front sometimes. If only Waffles had the same.

Smith - like a lot of our young guys has promise, if he was given the supporting players around him he might achieve some good things. I'm surprised Waffles isn't better in the air - he has the height and the jump for it. Totori has to go. At best he is a bench player for the nix and a starter for the reserves (ASBP team)

Waikato FC played well but yeah you should expect a team stacked full of ASB Prem standouts to beat them, I guess its the team not gelling - maybe that's a lack of training time, match time, or coaching, it's hard for me to say.

Well, they managed to get spanked by Manawatu too, so it's not really that shocking.

They won't pay a media manager but the million dollar estimated for an NYL campaign 'can be resolved'... let's just say I'm cynical.
