We have the hottest strip in th league all right.

It will be interesting to see whether the Phoenix store (opening next week it appears) has unsponsored shirts for sale. I suspect not.

Could have done lost worse than Sony. One of the least intrusive (aesthetically) yet still a top (global) brand.

Big ups, credibility-wise.

I know, I know, its serious!

Wow, stunned. Sony back again, good to see they came to their senses and re-signed :)

Wellington Beds, the colour is a bit awful for a main logo (especially on yellow/black stripes). But good to see them in a more prominent place this year too

A bit awful??

It looks horrible, give some of the increase pot you gave the Nix to a decent graphic designer to find something nicer and something that would look good on a shirt, green and yellow doesnt...

Nice work Nix, getting Sony back is a terrific outcome.

green and yeller do go well together (according to colour theory) problem is the shades of green and yellow and then stuck over stripies. plain sleeves? yellow ones. problem fixed

I agree, we have the best looking top in the league with the simple "sony" word. Just watch the other teams grow green with envy . . . .

Ok so Sony on the Front and Lower Back, Wellington Beds on the sleeve
. . .
so do we have a guest spot for the front of the shorts? Must have better pulling power now that Sony is back.

A good return....perhaps influenced by what I percieve is the clubs desire to strengthen links with  China and expanding into Asia.  Good for business.

And it looks neat and simple on the front....

Devalues those previous souvenir shirts from the first few pages of angst.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

im guessing that offering sony a far cheaper deal was the last resort after drawing blanks everywhere else...

What this proves is that daily anonymous bomb threats to the Sony Style store do work, despite what the Police will try and tell you.

why did they leave again?

Head Office didn't like the image of renewing a sponsor when they had lost 50 billion dollars and were pushing staff out the door.  Things have calmed down now I guess.

They wouldn't have had to pay as much either. Thus no back of shirt sponsorship.

I wouldn't bet on it.  If they were selling themselves cheap they could have just put Century City on it.

Does this open an opportunity for someone else to get their name on there and a further income from sponsorship??

I would bet on it. There's no way they would have paid as much as they did two years ago.

Not saying they paid as little as to suggest 'century city' could have matched them, just saying they would've paid less.

You can't argue with that, surely.

Yep. Melb have different back/front shirt sponsors. Their back sponsor is bigger than the players name though.

there is also a credibility and brand benefit for phoenix is being associated with Sony - and i expect that would have been a consideration for the club in deciding what their expectations were and assessing Sony versus another possible sponsor

Paulm, based on what ?

An uncontrollable urge to find something negative in a great bit of news for the club ?

There is no evidence to suggest they have paid any less (or more), the major change is that the corporate political situation is different within Sony.

I like your point.

In the end i agree that sony is a great sponsor and am happy to see them back.

Especially since the club say they are very very happy with it

Based on the economic climate compared to it's state two years ago, and also the fact that we obviously have struggled to find a sponsor that met our needs financially - otherwise we would've signed one prior to the shirts being printed... and more than 2 days out from the season opener...

Yes there isn't any evidence, but it's common sense.

Find me some evidence to show otherwise... i beg of you.

Am happy to have the sponsor (as posted whilst you were posting your retort), just giving my opinion on an open forum - thanks to YF for giving me the opportunity.

Obviously it was - I doubt many sports teams would've got an upgrade on their sponsorship deal though! At least we have a sponsor. Look at Adelaide - sponsorless.
