Tommy Oar would be great! I'm hoping this is true. What a huge coup that would be.

So if this is a midfielder, he would be a replacement for Fenton's shift??

We have been needing a top class box to box midfield, even before that Fenton shift was proposed.

Edit - If you translate the tweets, they are along the lines of "New opportunities abroad" - and someone tweeted to him (in Spanish) when he posted a photo of an empty stadium "Is this why you have changed to the Phoenix?"

Foschini can play right back, and he's young. Solves a problem? Ernie seems dead keen on converting Fenton to that position though.
Markelis is only 21 and has player as a striker and a winger. Could potentially be decent pickups

Foschini could be a pick up for right back...?

Rather have Foschini as RB rather than Fenton...

Apparantly Markelis has a really bad attitude

Markelis is seen at the nightclubs more than on the training pitch.

Foschini better option than converting fenton

Merrick signed and played Foschini while at victory, they know each other. Merrick is probably keen.

RR mightve picked kosta to victory based on stoppage time podcast

Don't we want to move forward?

How would signing players not good enough for another A-League side be a step forward?

By all means if they are proven and out of contract but youngsters they would not offer full deals to and don't forget the Victory defence was a disaster at times last season.

How's my driving? - Whine here

We're the last dog at the bowl. This is what happens. Rather we got someone like foschini than conducted a stupid experiment with fenton.

I'm not sure if there are any ASP premiership or other domestic kiwis at this stage who are commanding a contract in this position. I don't know if there are standouts who would be up to A-league level at this time. Taking a risk on a guy like Foscini is safer than taking a risk on an unknown state league player. However, I'm certainly not saying we should neglect looking at these competitions. Foscini is young and has experience with the biggest club in Australia. He has the potential to develop, and sometimes players don't fit in certain systems that's why they're cleared out. Doesn't necessarily mean that all players who are released are rubbish. Pretty much every club in the world picks up players who have been deemed surplus to requirements at their previous clubs. If we were signing a 33 year old reject then I would 100% agree with you, but I think its potentially worth a try to look at Foscini.
However, it's just an option, and of course we should be open to all possibilities.

Kind of agree on the Foscini pickup. At the moment we have as wide defenders Rowe on trial...some kid from Queensland State league on trial and converting Fenton. Looks like this guy Cunningham may take one import slot and a DM the other. That means the rest of the squad have to be kiwis and Aussies.

Two and a half months out from the start of the season we need to start bedding players into the squad and getting them converted to Ernies style of football. Remember we are needing a squad not picking a first eleven. If this Forcini guy has played RB at A-League and is seen as a useful prospect then he would be OK to fill out the squad IMO. Seems like Ernie already knows him.....in Ernie we trust!!!!!

As someone has pointed our we are the last resort for players. We have to pick up other A-League discards....fact of life.

It's Moneyball dudes. An island of misfit toys. A heart-warming tale about a team of loveable rejects assembled by an aging coach who just wants one last shot at the big time.

Completely agreed. I watched all home Victory games and Foschini was often the worst player on the pitch and a complete liability. We need to be aiming higher than this, despite the realities of trying to get players to Wellington.

The less said about Theo fucking Markelis , the better.

Good news. Nice to have a signing. Still want him to change his name. Steven O'Dor is currently sitting across from me on the train - should I sign him up?

From wikipaedia...

Kenny Martin Cunningham Brown (born 7 June 1985) is a Costa Ricaninternational footballer who plays in Bolivia for The Strongest, as a striker.[1][2] He is currently being seduced by the Wellington Phoenix in the A-league, but Kenny's well documented fear of earthquakes, hurricane force wind, torrential rain, and chicken fighting could scupper the deal.

Twitter sauce is the only thing we've got so far.

Probably the kind of signing the club would want to reveal with the player in town

I can confirm we have signed a player with a first and last name.

More to follow.

Costa Rica is currently in second position in the CONCACAF world cup qualifiers only behind the US, and ahead of Mexico, Honduras, Panama and Jamica (in order). I havn't seen too much of Costa Rica, nor know many of their players, but this fact alone suggests that they are probably better than the All Whites. The fact that Kenny is playing regularly for the Costa Rican team, at least in recent fixtures, is a good sign that he could be a quality player. Look forward to seeing how this one pans out.

So are the clues referring to a 2nd signing? Is it Solomons, the youth guy?

Also, 2B, if the cunningham thing hadn't jumped the gun, would this have been your clue?
