Why do all Spanish commentators scream GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL until they completely run out of breath? After that, they repeat the process again, it's crazy!!

If Kenny signs with the Nix then it would be really cool having a Nix player to follow in another team playing in the WC....Costa Rica would be our second team.

Interesting reading Ernies thoughts on Lia and Muscat in the DP after the last trial match. He said they "must do better...." which is polite Ernie speak for "they were Shiite"  I don't think he will put up with sub par performances. Expect transfer action very soon in that area. There are a few young CR DMs  playing for the national team and still with local Costa Rican clubs....apparently many of the clubs there are in financial trouble......could we pick up another one for DM?

Must say I am very happy about the direction  Ernie is taking the club... its early days still, but its nice to feel that the bloke in charge knows what he's doing.

Imagine having 3 Costa Rican national team players, that would be sick! Could develop a nice little Costa Rican - Nz football link which could potentially be beneficial in the future, who knows..
I'm kind of happy that he wasn't too impressed with Manny and Lia in the game last night. It means that it will hopefully increase competition in that area which can only be a good thing. It became a bit boring seeing players like Manny and Lia under perform so much last season, yet still be guaranteed a starting place.

But then we would have no team during international windows! All our Kiwis and all our Costa Ricans would be gone

Am real happy with what Ernie's trying to do. Like a breathe of fresh air to have some-one without NZ and AW's connections to do what has to be done. Some of the floater fans I work with seem to have renewed interest in the Phoenix, after laughing at them last season. Helps with the club seemingly trying to connect with their fanbase more openly. But no doubt Ernie's had more than a bit to do with that.

I agree, it really does seem like there's a proper plan this year from the top down to be a lot more open.  A lot of stuff seemed to go on behind closed doors previously for no good reason.  It's nice to actually here from the coach about what he thinks of players too - even little things like commenting on Rufer's debut that he was nervous but he's done well at training.

The thing that amazes me is how willing he is to give young Kiwis a go. Even though RH was a NZer, he did not.

Errr how much game time did Boyd & Fenton get last season? Ricki always gave plenty of game time pre-season to young Kiwis.

This has always been a myth. Apart from Kosta, I don't think he did wrong by any young player. Maybe he should've chucked Lindsay in a bit more last year, but he obviously didn't think he was ready (and Ernie doesn't either by the look of it)

Lindsay never got a go because he was not good enough. End of.

Isn't he still under contract?

I haven't seen anything from Lindsay to suggest he should have been signed in the first place or that he has the potential to be a professional footballer. It's tough and I may be being unfair on him because we haven't seen a lot of him, but from what we have seen, he appears to be a completely average footballer. A 3 year contract was staggering in hindsight.

Full article translated..

Not a day more nor one day less, midfielder Kenny Cunningham, has until tomorrow to respond to the leadership of Saprissa whether to accept the offer put to him by the club.

I have heard on good authority that Kenny is close to signing with us. He is just concerned about his place in the Costa Rica national team.

So in other words, like every other occasion, you're having a guess while the chances are in your favour. Well done, again you' ve added nothing the rest of us couldn't have.

That article on Kenny speaks volumes about why media shouldn't jump on every transfer rumour and claim it as fact.

I'm more concerned about why Carlos Hernandez is living in the attic of a military school.

Man is it easy to troll and get a rise around here. NUFC's comment wasn't even good that time yet the red mist is thick as hell.

Personally, after my initial week of "WTF??" when he first started commenting, I've grown to like the lad. He has a sense of humour, and his new 'balls' rhetoric promises for some very funny banter during the upcoming season.

I do not usually defend our Newcastle friend, but if that reply is the best you can do then you are what you have written. I suspect if Newcastle had written that he would be banned for a while and maybe you should be as well?

FYI it was a reference to balls coming out... next time I make an indirect reference attempting to be humorous (some may call this a joke - others, not). In future, I shall provide an explanation to negate any possibility of upsetting or confusing somebody who may not pickup my line of reference - as that's clearly how things are done around here.

Or more likely, I won't bother.

I find it humorous that you find him humorous. He's like the new mate that was around for a while until everyone realised his chat was shit and repetitive. From then on he was just a pest. nufc do you run the Ernie Merrick twitter account?
