Really? FFA cover the cap now so theoretically we should have more money to play with. Is Carlos our marquee or under the cap?
Newcastle got Heskey. WsW got Ono. Sydney, Del Piero. MV almost got Karagounis then Miccoli - if we don't start aiming a bit higher , the league could pass us by. In saying that I think next season would be the time to make move like this - we need solid foundations to work from.

If we are going to fork out 2 mil for a marquee, you gotta see 5-6k increases in crowd just from their name. That is fine for Sydney with their large Italian population with ADP. Victory wanted Karagounis because of the Greeks in Melbourne.
I would love us to get a top quality marquee but not at the risk of going belly up trying to compete with the big market clubs.

If we are going to fork out 2 mil for a marquee, you gotta see 5-6k increases in crowd just from their name (or have the FFA and FoxSports paying the bill)

here the thing, I know we need the money to attract him to the a league, but he has been struggling to find a club and his appearance record for the higher league clubs is not spectacular currently so we could use that as an advantage.

If Fenton isn't going to be our starting RB then who is? Only option I see is putting Manny back there as he already said Bertos isn't a RB.

I suppose Manny could be a RB option. That would mean that Lia would be out pairing DM with our awaited international. Perhaps Manny could be encouraged to move forward more, I always liked seeing him get further up the field. He can place a lovely ball times, ala Fenton's goal first game last season.

That would be an exceptional young footballer for the Phoenix. I would assume he has declared for NZ then otherwise if he is still PNG, then he would be classified as an import if he was signed to pro terms.

Is Matthew Ridenton trialling yet? Along with Rufer, he's the best player in his age group. Should be being looked at
I've been asking the "where is the FSE trialling process at?" question for a while on FSE/academies thread. There's meant to be 16 of them this year. No answer over there either.

id reckon we need to be aiming for at least his quality if we are going to be any where near competitive this season, yes we may not be his first choice, but victory has turned him down, the roar dont seem to giving him much, we could jump to the top of the queue by simply offering him a contract.
