I've heard from a former team-mate of his that Aaron Clapham makes close to $30,000 from playing for Canterbury United. Probably just a rumour, but sounds like it's enough to make a living.
If he was working a 40 hour week, that would be 14 bucks an hour. Don't know if he has kids but I think that would be pretty tough even for a single man
How about Flores and Carlos as a midfield pairing? Seems a bit light in the tackling department..

Isn't the ASB Prem just 14 weeks? Anyway I'm sure that figure can't be accurate, my argument was that at least he's making a living playing football
Yeah he does make a fair bit of coin playing for Canterbury considering it's a few trainings a week and a game. Also does a bit of TV work for a couple of shitty kids shows based in Chch. Last year he was on What Now, not sure if he's still there. I know a few players from Canterbury were making some money playing for their club sides as well. I heard Russell Kamo was playing games for Ferrymead Bays for about $200-300 I think it was.
In all seriousness though, if we signed Clapham as a squad player on the minimum. Would everyone be opposed?

Grumpy old bastard alert
I'm with Jeff, yes opposed to him as a squad player as I would rather see a youngster (Maybe from the U20s) signed into the place as they can have a development chance, are in the professional environment.

Whose likely to be offered youth contracts? Matthew Ridenton or Alex Rufer could be two options though I'm guessing Fenton, Boyd and Basalaj if signed fill those roles?
Also Bill Tuiloma might be a good investment at RB.
Call me crazy though but if Payne or Howieson don't break into Blackburn/Burnley respectively this year...loan deal???

I didn't realize Lindsay was still young enough, I guess that's a good thing then.

Fenton, Boyd &...? Lindsay? still?
So for 2013/2014 it should be 1992, Lindsay was born Dec 1992.

No to mention that's only for a few months work. Good coin.
Allegedly
Few months so basically a short term contract - pretty good money for one of those
There is no direct quote but according to Sam Worthington...
"Merrick said the two "crucial" positions to fill were another striker and midfielder, and he would cast the net far and wide."
I am a bit surprised how determined he is to get another striker. I would have thought another midfielder and right back or two midfielders were a much higher priority given what we already have. I think Iffil, Brockie, Boyd, Hysugems and Totori will be collectively well down on game time this season.
Our near golden boot winner isn't a striker?
I thought brocke was technically our only striker, everyone else is a converted wide man....Stein, Ifill included.
Queenslander 3x a year.
Think i got it right from what Merrick said on TV3 news tonite he has the his eyes on spending some good money on a striker and another midfielder.Maybe he wants to spend some decent money on them and will look for some who maybe wont be so expensive for the other spots.
