Yeah I think some of those salaries will be a fair bit lower. I think Manny would be closer to 100k than 200. Lia somewhere around 100k too.

Fuck this stupid game

Think Manny got a pretty decent payrise when we were trying so hard to keep him.

It a little bit of a worry when you see Tyler is eight times the value of Cunningham!!

Actually when I look at that team, I think if I could release players today, I'd ditch Lindsay. I'm comfortable with the rest. Last year I could have tossed a few.

Ditch Lindsay but keep Lia seems a little harsh. I know he is good at long balls but that really about it.

Hold on. The club has called Kenny a striker. All JV's earnest arguments have been on him being a midfield/half !!

Waits for JV to give the club a blast .....  LOL

Wonders if JV has a sense of humour.....
for what it's worth i did some web digging on the "Pre-season - a week off" thread
my impression from that is that Cunningham has played mostly at forward/striker

... and still no comments about Richard Garcia? Anybody know where is going after Heart cut him loose?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

So funny that you lot are trying to work out how much of the salary cap is left to be spent based on nothing more than a bunch of wild guesswork on how much each player is earning.

And than theres no posts asking for a source.

If people in the club are reading this (i'd doubt they bother) they must be having a good giggle.

It's not that hard to guess what each player is (roughly) on.

This. It's not like we're throwing wild numbers into the air. It's basic math to work out the average salary from the cap.

Ironic nightz, given that most people on this forum have a giggle at basically everything you post.

Than you'd both be factually wrong.

Soccer Stoppage Time reckons Cam Lindsay has been told by Ernie he can look elsewhere for another club.

From stuff...

Meanwhile, the Wellington Phoenix resumed their pre-season training yesterday, with New Zealand under-17 midfielder Matthew Ridenton arriving to trial.

Someone was talking about Ridenton here.

Went down to the training in Petone. Tyler and Sherminator were doing laps, rest of the squad was training apart from who I'm pretty sure was Cam Lindsay. He was just standing around watching on like us.

To be fair, you sign a young player who is unlikely to step onto the field that season, you're not going to slag him off and say he's only going to be a reserve.
Every youth player is generally touted as "the future"

Was this his last contracted season or did he have another after that? Wonder if it would be a full payout.

The more I hear about what Ernie's doing at the Nix - especially kicking out Ricki's more obvious favourites like Lindsay, Totori and Lochhead - the more this sounds like that time the Germans bought the nuclear power plant on The Simpsons and went around with their jaws dropping at all the safety violations, green goo leaking out of things, etc. If this were The Simpsons Ernie would corner Ricki in Rotorua and beg him to take the Nix back.

I've always though Lindsay has been out of his depth. To be fair though, Lindsay can put his feet up for the summer if he really wants because he does not need to sign anything that gives him less than he is entitled to. If he is smart, he would quickly look to go somewhere else. Not sure it's to his benefit playing ASBP when he will be looking for exposure though.

Auckland City has the Club World Cup coming up, it wouldn't be the worst move for him. He has hardly played the last couple season, it wouldn't hurt him to get some solid game time under his belt.

He really should have gone over with Boxall to Oakleigh to get some games over the off season.

I'm sure that one VPL club that takes all of our players will be keen.

I think last offseason he went on loan, so did think it was interesting he didn't go again.

or maybe I imagined that...

Its interesting how these youngsters like Lyndsay and Rowe kind of fall away. Both had good time with OK clubs in the UK at youth level but when it came to the crunch they just were not good enough to establish themselves as good A-League players. As many have said on these forums getting a gig at youth level in Europe means very little. So many kids are picked up and eventually get discarded.

Even now we have a kid like Payne who had not been including in the senior squad for his UK club this season. Good player but obviously not good enough. If he does not make it through this year then he will be cut. Ditto Cam Howieson....another good prospect....gets loaned out to Div 1???? club and ends up sitting on the bench. In Europe there are plenty of 18 year old and lots of 19 year olds playing at the top level. If the kiwi kids don't make it through at that age then they will get the chop. Same for Tuiloma. Olympic Marseille will put a lot of effort into him this year but if he is not first squad material next season then he will also be cut.

What it means for the Nix is some of these kids will possibly be available for us in the next few years. Payne and Howieson at the Nix would be OK for us IMO

Fenton was in VPL before we signed him and Pavlovic went to NSWPL. Lindsay didn't go any where afaik.

Why not? Good bench-sitter. And they won't have to pay him coz it's not allowed, right?

Well in that resepcts yes Jerzy. I was more meaning that I don't think he would add anything as a player to the club.

As much as Im disappointed we wont get that midfielder, I do like the fact that Ernie wanted a particular type of player, he couldnt get one, so he'll hold back and wait for the right one to come along - rather than panic buy someone who's not up to it
