Oh aye, hmm maybe second thoughts on Pevs.. Although he is an Oceanic All Star
Lol still think we should sign him, is his preferred position DM News?

Football manager calls him a DM C, but he can play D C, M C.  He ran the midfield for the Olympic side with Si Elliott and played at both M C and D C against the Phoenix the other month.

Anyone who was at Newtown should be able to tell you where he played on Sunday... and anyone not there better have been out of town or dead (Feverish by all accounts was there, but close to death).

Peverly and Old are similar in that they both have mad blood rushes in committing mad challenges in the stupidest places. Thats about as similar as they get.

Peverly is a lot lighter on his feet and is a far more skillful ball player though that said, its hard to compare a CB to a CM in that they have different attributes, strengths and weaknesses.

Peverly would be a good signing for the Phoenix. He has played well at HBU for 1.5 years, has been given a crack at age group and senior level and wasn't bad/out of place for the All Stars.
At 21, he wouldn't cost the earth...

He's not a LB Scottish Boy sorry. I would classify him as a traditional box to box CM not a DM or an AM

Phoenix should sign Niko Kovac just retired from Croatian national team as captain.
I think hes 35/36 but defenciv midfielder (DM) behind Modric.

Hes playing for Salzburg in Austria i think, but he hasnt been gettin much game time.

He still got a a few years left in him

Signing a player at that age is exactly what the Knights would have done. We don't need to go down that road.

When you consider we are very light on strikers and they just let Covs go (aged 37?) and are saying they wont resign Johnson due to age and a required knee reconstruction, they are very unlikely to sign a 35 yo player. Its basically wasting an import spot to an aged player. Lets not waste an import spot on an aged player.

I was feeling a bit rough - but after watching that guy Abba do back flips, I felt Bjorn again.

Anyway - we're not going to sign him in a million yrs.

Why do you keep pushing this barrow when we have 2 very solid CBs and maybe a 3rd about to be signed? It got boring months ago

I believe he is like my putter in golf. I can use it from 60 yards in the rough and get it onto the green, or can use it 5 yards out from the hole.

I mean BB can either play, upfront int he mid in goals or in the backline. I mean he could score more goals than any other ALEAGUE striker with a hand tied behind his back

Why don't you just put it in your sig... Its a least better than reading a wasted post every 2nd one you post.

Besides, who the f**k is Wyners anyway?

edit: While I am aware you are a troll, he's scored 22 goals in 347 games.........

Found our striker for next year..jokes

Get more on: shane | huke | dagenham | redbridge AUSSIE Shane Huke has left English fourth-tier club Dagenham and Redbridge and returned Down Under for personal/family reasons. The 23-year-old has spent much of this season recovering from a groin problem and has had to be largely content with stints off the bench.

Daggers manager John Still told the club's official website: "Shane has decided he needs to go back to Australia until at least next season, if returning at all.

"So we thank him for the fantastic effort he has put in and thank him for being an unbelievable lad and personality around the place and I'm very sad and disappointed for him and his family and wish him all the best for the future."

Huke's return could alert A-League clubs with the former Peterborough United man once having been linked with Sydney FC.

I'm aware of your fastination, just haven't bitten the hook until now.
Educated? Nope. Am prone to posts of stupidity much like everyone else. Thats the beauty of football. Two people can look at the same thing and see it totally differently.

Edit: I was born in Scotland tho. Maybe thats it.

Cut the rubbish SB, can't be bothered.  I don't care what news has said but if you mention BB again on this thread I'll ban you myself.

On Draper, the thing for him is he doesn't have a lot of options, he'll have to go back to the NZFC otherwise, he's a bit old for overseas Youth Sides and doens't have enough experience for first teams.  I'm sure he'll stay, and I think he should

What about Winston Reid?  I mean he'd be insane to leave Denmark for Wellington but maybe he's insane.  Or that Kiwi Celtic chap (the young one, not Killen) on loan for a season.

...wistful thinking...

Is his name mcglinchy or something?  He must still be behind KIllen in the pecking order which also means he isn't getting any game time.

I've hear dhis link to NZ is tenuous, was born here while his dad was an overseas player at Stop Out, but was only here for a very short time maybe less than a year??

Michael McGlinchey. He's declared for Scotland, so we won't see him in the All Whites, but since he was born I'd imagine he'd have citizenship, and thus be counted as a domestic player a la Daniel.

SYDNEY FC'S new sister club relationship with Shanghai Shenhua could bear early fruit, with exciting Chinese international Sun Xiang - whose spectacular goal consigned the Socceroos to their first home defeat in a World Cup qualifier in 27 years, at Homebush Bay last June - emerging as a prime recruiting target for next season.

james duncan of Sydney

FourFourTwo Belief Factor: 8/10 - Sydney need defenders and playmakers so he'll be a definite target if a deal can be done.

A shame about the injuries, would have loved to seen more of him. Class player, very much in the twilight of his career though. When he was fit he was a class above just about everyone in the league.

So when are you gonna throw some names out there, who have never played for anybody else?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'm guessing Yomcat's point is there is a difference between picking up players who have been released by a club because they are no longer wanted and picking up players who are out of contract but are still wanted by their current club i.e we make a better offer than their current club or players we pick up by paying a transfer fee.

The acid test for me on new signings is;

1) Would they be good enough to secure or seriously compete for regular starts at Adelaide, Melbourne or the Roar (these are the teams we will have to compete with to be title contenders).

2) If not would they make the squad at those clubs and

3) Are they better than the player they are replacing in the Nix squad.

If the answer to 1 and/or 2 is yes then the answer to 3 will almost always be yes but not necessarily so (think Smeltz & Moss).

The answers, for me, with resepct to Diego are yes so, as long as we can get / keep him fit, he is a good addition.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Amaral  -they haven't re-signed him and they haven't not re- signed him.  He is in limbo at present and they are deciding whether to play him in the remaining games in their youth side (3 elderly allowed) or to send him overseas in the off season to see what his fitness is like and whether he can stay injury free.

If he does get through I think they will keep him, we wouldnt get him

If he doesnt,  we wouldnt want him either

So best off the list altogether

The only reason Adelaide released Diego was because of his injury problems, considering we have probably by far the best fitness team in the league I doubt we will experience the same problems.
