I'm a bit worried about Putter - his name isn't cool.

I recall Tony P saying a few interviews ago that we had 2 strikers and a youth player to sign to complete the initial 09/10 roster. That takes to squad up to the minimum of 20.

A squad of 20 seems sensible - little point in going over the minimum until we have a youth team to give fringe players game time, also leaves a slot or 2 for too good to miss opportunities.

Currently signed up are;

CONTRACT EXPIRES END OF SEASON FIVE (09/10):
#4) Jon McKain
#7) Leo Bertos
#10) Michael Ferrante
#13) Troy Hearfield
#16) David Mulligan
#17) Vince Lia
#23) Costa Barbarouses
#22) Andrew Durante
#1) Mark Paston
#25) Manny Muscat
         Reece Crowther

CONTRACT EXPIRES END OF SEASON SIX (10/11):
#3) Tony Lochhead
#6) Tim Brown
#11) Daniel
#18) Ben Sigmund
#31) Diego
#30) Chris Greenacre
#4) Jon McKain
#7) Leo Bertos
#17) Vince Lia
#23) Costa Barbarouses
#22) Andrew Durante
#1) Mark Paston
#25) Manny Muscat
All need to be locked down ASAP

#10) Michael Ferrante
#13) Troy Hearfield
#16) David Mulligan
Not sure about them

Reserving judement on Crowther, but confident he's got the goods.

Putter has a reasonable scoring record.

If we sign him and  he was to continue to score in the A League at the rate he has over the last 3 seasons, then he will give us probably 6 goals. Only 10 players scored more in the A league last year. Our second highest goal scorer after Smeltz was Tim Brown with 3.

Be interested to know how the league he played in for FC Dordrecht, the Jupiler League, is compared to the A League

Not sure about them

I'm sure about two of them, Hearfield the jury is out.  Needs less 'party all the time' and more consistant football.

Is it costa's last year in the under20 age bracket?

If so it would have to between him and Troy?

Sergio van Dijk played for FC Emmen from 2005 - 2008 scoring 35 goals in 95 games (a goal every 3 games). FC Emmen are in the same division (Eerste Div) as Putter's old club FC Dordrecht. Putter scored 56 goals in 213 games (a goal every 4 games, not sure all were in Eerste Div).

Putter is 27, van Dijk is 26.

If van Dijk is any indication of the relative standard of the Eerste and A-League Putter could be very useful in the A-League - let's hope so - a fit van Dijk standard striker, a fit Greenacre and fit Diego, our already solid defense and we could be useful.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I totally agree with HN Ferrante and Mulligan can go, so far I am leaning 60/40 that Hearfield go after this season however I am happy to be proved wrong.

Barbarouses, Daniel and Rojas can cover Hearfield's position though...........

Disco Troy should stay - he's shown enough glimpses that he could be a decent player if he settles into a position and knows what's required of him.

Mickey F - in right set-up, could be useful. Wouldn't discard him yet.

Mulligan - out.

Doubt the club would spend money releasing either of the two, and they could always pull a blinder of a season out of the hat and stake claims for being re-signed... you never know.

Mulligan

Bad attitude, bad player.  Goooone.

With regards to the Spanish game he was more than within his rights to get annoyed.  Given a number of passes to far ahead of him that went out and another that bounced straight over his head, nothing he could have done about it.  I'd be annoyed as well.  He has seriously just become the scapegoat.  He didn't do too badly at all against Spain, certainly not the worst in the team.

He obviously wants to be a centre-mid. Every time I saw him play last season he was constantly drifting towards the centre-cirlce and getting caught out on the wing.
