Dodd is soooooooooooooooo bad its funny!!! Did anyone see his attempted back heel???
It was such a pathetic attempt and with that he shud retire or play NZFC or something

Poor backheel but he did more in 15 minutes than Johnson in 75 minutes. Showed some passion too.

He wud only be a reserve Centre back in my squad...at best.

Not enough quality to match his so called passion!!!

Well, that was painful. I just sat through 94 minutes of "Garbage".

Tony Lochead: Played well below his potential. He looked ok running the ball up and croosing it in (on the odd occasion) but as Left Back he failed miserably at holding Adelaide up out wide and stopping the crosses. Overall a night he should soon be forgetting.

Jon Mckain: Played OK. Was a damnsite better than Lochhead and Mulligan. Did well at attempting to defuse Adelaide attacks however overall the Nix' defence was sh*te tonight.

Andrew Durante: Pretty much the same as Mckain. Ok game nothing special but still contributed
to the defences piss poor performance.

David Mulligan: Well. Boy oh Boy! For someone we had all anticipated as a great player. He certainly did not look great. He was average at best. Failing to stop people run down the left flank into the box or whip it in. Overall he did not even nearly live up to expectations.

DEFENCE:  The Defensive effort was absolutely pathetic tonight. It was garbage and therefore needs to be thrown in the bin, put out on the curb, and taken away(forgotten). I do no believe that this performance is something we should worry too much about as I think it was uncharacteristic of what looks like a great squad however something needs to be done.

Michael Ferrante: Would have to be placed in my Top 3 or 4 tonight however that doesn't say too much. Deffinately looked OK at times and seemed to be the only one running at the start which is good to see. However as a midfielder he did not fulfill his job.

Richard Johnson: Similar to Ferrante however he wasted alot of ball, with some really silly shots. I do think we don't shoot enough as a squad however he got a bit stupid shooting from 40 odd metres out. Tonight should be quickly forgotten.

LeiLei Gao: Lazy. Looked ok at times however when tackled or skinned he just stopped and gave up and made no attempt at regaining possesion. Worst of the three mid.

Midfield: Garbage. Way to many percentage balls through/over. Wasted alot of ball.

Leo Bertos: Pretty average really. He was a slight glimmer of light in the team however failed to produce anythiogn special. At times he looked threatening with his speed however would of liked to see him create/execute an opportunity.

Adam Kwasnik: Lazy, seemed to be lacking the will/drive to win. Did not play to his potential. Was glad to see him replaced early in the second half.

Attack: A bit boring really. Never really got/created the chance to do anything special.

Karl Dodd: Much better performance this week. When he came on he was a spark although tried to be a bit tricky once or twice overall it was an OK performace considering the circumstances while he attempted to get a consolation goal.

Vaughan Coveny: Like the commentator said when he got on the field he is one man that is willing to poor his heart and sole into a match for the pride he has in his side. Good to seem him pressuring Adelaide a bright contrast to the rest of the team. Would tie for Man of the Match with Dodd in my opinion.

Daniel Lin Cortez: I was glad to seem him come on as i thought his normally charasmatic personality would bring some hope into the team, it didn't. He had an OK game good to see him running hard when he first got on but the depressing atmosphere created by the rest of the squad eventually dragged him down.

Substitutes: All looked better than the rest of the team. Atleast they tried and seemed to push their hardest even to no avail.

Overall tonights game really did hurt to watch. We failed to string any continuity together. There was sometimes a glimpse of a chance but never really much hope. I was dissapointed to see that the majority of the team failed to try and would not have minded loosing so much if the score wasn't so embarasing or if they had gone down trying hard pushing themselves to the max.

That's my opinion I guess. Don't get me wrong because I am fully behind the phoenix however it is very hard to be positive after a match like that. Ricki needs to sit them down and have a good chat because a repeat of that performance would be catastrophic.
I hope that the boys can go away from this having learn their lesson and be ready to come out firing in a couple of weeks against CCM.

Man of The Match: Vaughan Coveny and Karl Dodd tied.

Mate I think its bloody awesome - the opportunities they have and good to see Mr Wilson helping out not only the local boys but around the country too - like durante said on paper the Nix look pretty good, same could be said about the USOLE team too - difference is they are deliverying

Why the f**k do you come on here, ask for our opinion and then bag it when you get it? Watch the game yourself and you will see Hearfield was average, which makes him one of our better players tonight
Ricki!!!! What the fuk was with that, tactically it made no sense from the start. We have an inability to play through the middle, we get someone sitting in the hole behind the striker and all they do is play it wide hoping for a good cross, where is someone with the ability to play a decent ball to a player with some brains making a decent run
last week i came close to being embaraased by being a phoenix fan, tonight i went way past embarassed. That was shameful and disrespectul to people like Terry and although i dont like to say it but to us aswell. They showed no passion for the shirt or for each other. Every time they got the ball they had space to run and make passes, we had no shape and ran around with no apparent game plan. One instance late in the first half i remember is we were on the edge of the box and 3 guys all got in the way of each other in a horizontal line. no one making a run all just looking sideways so they could whip it wide for someone to send in a cross. I dont mind losing when you a)either lose to a very very good team or b) you get pipped in a tight one. Tonight was neither, didn't think Adelaide were sensational and in no way was that at all close. 3-0 flattered us.
very very angry but at least it makes the bop loss bearable..... whew glad i got that off my chest. luckily for my taxi driver home from the 4 kings i didn't unleash on him

Did bring back memories of most away trips last season, however just disappointing was the effort put in. The only justifiable excuse is if the whole team actually did have the flu, as the commentator woudl remind us every 2nd minute.

it's only been mentioned once but I think it's a huge point, all three games this season we have conceded almost instantly after halftime.

The entire team was guilty of letting opposition run straight through them, no one was closing down on their man, Alemao had a field day drifting straight through the midfield.

These are the sort of performances that directly impact crowd numbers, tomorrow people will start hearing about this and the magority of fans aren't loyal enough to put up with it and come back. It's a shame because next week is the pieman match and I wanted a huge crowd giving El**ch sh*t for a full 90 minutes, we could quite easily end up with 4000 halfheartedly remarking that he's actually looking like a marquee player.

HOLY f**kING sh*t WE WERE f**kING USELESS OH GOD HELP US AND NZ FOOTBALL BLOODY HELL

As I said earlier in the week, we're missing at least a cylinder compared to the other sides.  We're simply being outclassed in the A-League.  What's puzzled me is that each club is allowed 4 imports and the Phoenix have only one on its books (Daniel, the only player we have who's actually able to do something decent with the ball, i.e., when he's allowed on the field).  The Australian clubs have all used up their quota and have made some very good signings.  They've imported players because they realise they can bring in better players from overseas than are available domestically.  The Phoenix should have done the same!  Any three of the imports floating about at the other A-League clubs would walk into our starting line up.

That was the first Phoenix match I've watched (thanks to web streaming) and it wasn't a great choice! Having only seen that match and no others my thoughts are:

1. Lochhead is disappointed at missing out at Middlesborough and has lost his concentration. Some signs that he is a class player but also some awful marking at other times.
2. Kwasnik is busy watching his bank balance go up faster than it did at the Mariners instead of watching his game. He was invisible.
3. Bertos and Hearfield really are midfielders and don't have a nose for goal. They need a couple of strikers to aim at - they are not going to put many away themselves. With Smeltz out we are therefore toothless.
4. Gao - can be slippery at times but gives the ball away twice as many times more.
5. Generally looked uncoordinated and could not make out the game plan.
6. From the first minute generally gave Adelaide acres of space to play and nowhere near enough pressure on the ball.
7. Durante - man of the match for his forthright post match comments.

The only silver lining is hopefully it will turn out to be a wake up call.

That really was painful but fans stick by a club through thick and thin so I'll be watching again next time.
